When To Change Your Hypnosis Niche (and When Not To)

00:00On today's video guys, let's talk about the idea of changing your niche.
00:02We've got a lot of videos where I talk about how to research your niche,
00:05what a niche should be, the red ocean, the blue ocean.
00:08But what if you've decided, hey, you know what?
00:10I'm done with this niche or it's not making me enough money.
00:12I want to scale.
00:13What should I do?
00:14Is changing your niche really the right thing to do?
00:17Well, if you're just about to decide or you want to do it in the future,
00:20please watch this video because I'm going to point out the reasons
00:22why you do not want to change your niche.
00:24What to look for that will tell you not to change the niche
00:27because I don't want you to leave a ton of money on the tables, guys.
00:30Don't change your niche yet.

00:33It could be the most important video that you watch that I've put out so far.
00:36So all in all, guys, every hypnotherapy business is different.
00:39I'm not saying whether you should change your niches or not.
00:42But guys, there are three or four main things you want to look out
00:45before you do decide that I want to go through now.
00:47So guys, don't change your niche too quickly
00:50if you're seeing these things right here.
00:52Emotions is a huge one.
00:54I see a big issue with therapists and coaches changing their niche
00:59because of how they're feeling.
01:01We're going to have good days in business.
01:02We're going to have bad days in business.
01:04Don't let your emotions blind you to what's really going on.
01:07Do not change your niche based on emotion.
01:09Like one day you wake up and say,
01:11I'm really excited about this niche.
01:12You go for it.
01:13Everything's good.
01:14Four or five days later, maybe you didn't get any clients.
01:16You didn't make any money.
01:17You're a little bit stressed out.
01:18You wake up and you think, you know what?
01:20I want to change my niche to something else.
01:22Over the entire month or two months,
01:23you've jumped and jumped and jumped
01:25from niche to niche before long.
01:26You've done this half a dozen, if not a dozen times.
01:29Your emotions play a big role in business.
01:31It's one of the things I tell people
01:32to take your emotions out of things.
01:34So if you're taking your emotions out of things,
01:36what's left in regards to the niching?
01:38Well, it comes down to this.
01:40I would say nine times out of 10,
01:42the reason a niche is not working
01:44outside of the research phase,
01:45which is all of the most important thing you do,
01:47but it comes down to inputs and outputs.
01:49What are you actually doing?
01:51Or what have you done over the last 30 days,
01:5360 days, 90 days?
01:54Have you actually put the effort in
01:56to make that niche work?
01:57Nine times out of 10,
01:58when I ask therapists and coaches this,
02:00I ask them to look at their schedule,
02:02what they've done.
02:03We have this weird idea that
02:04if I've just done one or two posts for the week,
02:07that's enough.
02:07Or I had one YouTube video go up
02:10on YouTube for the month.
02:11That's enough.
02:12I think people underestimate,
02:13therapists especially,
02:14underestimate the amount of work it takes
02:16as far as how much effort and marketing
02:18I've got to put in to get clients.
02:19And unfortunately,
02:20most therapists and coaches
02:21don't want to put in the effort,
02:22and that's fine.
02:23But if you're really keen on growing that business,
02:26and you're looking at wanting to change your niche,
02:27you have to take a step back
02:29and be honest with yourself.
02:30Okay, have I exhausted all the possibilities?
02:32Did I really post as much as I could have?
02:34Or was I really, really lazy?
02:36What have I done?
02:37If I look over the last 30 days,
02:39and my goal was to make 10 grand,
02:41but I did one post on Monday,
02:43took four days off,
02:44uploaded a podcast on a Saturday,
02:47had one YouTube video go up
02:48that really wasn't any good.
02:49Then I just sat back and did a lot of mindset.
02:52I prayed to the universe.
02:53I spoke to, you know, the energy
02:56and tell me to bring in clients.
02:57I went and did another course.
02:58I had some downtime
02:59because I was feeling burnt out.
03:01Was that the best use of your time, guys?
03:03So I have not seen a therapist,
03:05especially in our program yet,
03:06that has put in bulk amount of work.
03:08And I mean, posting religiously every day,
03:10the schedule that we give them,
03:12that has failed at this.
03:13Maybe the niche has not brought in enough money,
03:15and that's a good time to change it.
03:17As long as you're committing to doing the work
03:19to make that niche work,
03:20to make that niche profitable,
03:22to make sure that niche
03:23and you're exhausting every possibility.
03:25Most therapists and coaches don't,
03:26and they're naive enough to say they have,
03:28even when the work's not there.
03:30We have so much competition in this market, guys.
03:32The only therapists that are going to make it
03:34are the ones that are willing to put in the effort
03:35and the work into the marketing, hands down.
03:37You can be the most qualified therapist
03:39or coach in the world,
03:40but if you're the only one who knows it,
03:42you're not going to make money from that.
03:44If you believe the idea
03:45that clients are going to come
03:46kicking down your door
03:47because you handed out a couple of business cards,
03:49or you posted one testimony,
03:50or you did one Facebook Live last Thursday
03:54and sat back and waited,
03:55it's not enough, guys.
03:56So challenge yourself with your inputs.
03:58The more inputs I feed into the machine,
04:00the more outputs I should get,
04:02and you want to track all these things, guys.
04:04And this is where the emotional stuff comes into it,
04:06because you're going to have good days and bad days.
04:08You're going to have good weeks and bad weeks.
04:09You're going to have good months and bad months.
04:11I have them too.
04:12But if you take your emotions out
04:14and look at things logically and track things,
04:16you can see where things are going bad.
04:18I notice in myself
04:19that as my income in my training company goes down,
04:22I can always go back and look at the inputs,
04:24say, oh, hang on.
04:26No wonder my inputs, my outputs went down.
04:28Instead of doing my normal one YouTube video live per day,
04:31I only did two that week,
04:33and I did nothing on that week.
04:34I was lazy on this day.
04:36I did no sales calls this day.
04:37No wonder my income went down.
04:39But if I look at my most profitable months,
04:41I've done the most amount of work.
04:43It's just inputs and outputs,
04:44to use a therapeutic term, guys, cause and effect.
04:47So be very, very careful making decisions
04:50based on the emotions.
04:52Look at your numbers.
04:53Look at your metrics, guys.
04:55The next thing is,
04:55how did you come up with your niche, guys?
04:57Did you research it?
04:59There's no point changing from one niche to another
05:01if you're going to follow the same system,
05:03which is I'm just going to pick a niche
05:05based on what everybody else is talking about
05:07or what I feel like I've aligned to
05:10or what the universe has downloaded into my head
05:13or something crazy like that.
05:14Not to say those things can't work, guys,
05:16but when it comes to a niche and a business,
05:18a research goes into it.
05:19We've got to look at the research.
05:20What does the audience want?
05:22What do real potential clients want?
05:23Where are they?
05:24What are they looking for?
05:24What's the words they use?
05:25Are they in enough pain?
05:27Is it a niche where they can put up with it?
05:29That's a very dangerous thing.
05:30Or is it a niche where they can't live
05:32without a solution?
05:33They're the niche you want to go for.
05:34Now, I've talked about blue ocean
05:36and red ocean niches before.
05:37If you go back a couple of videos,
05:38you'll be able to see that.
05:39So I'm not going to talk about it here.
05:40How did you come up with your niche?
05:42If you did the research properly
05:43and that niche fails, fine.
05:45But make sure you follow the same research
05:47for the next one.
05:48But also, look back.
05:49Inputs and outputs.
05:50And before that,
05:51is there a lot of emotional invested in this?
05:53Okay, if there is, think again, guys.
05:55Don't change it too quickly.
05:57Last thing is shiny object.
05:58I've talked about this before.
06:00Guys, let me just say this.
06:02Business gets boring.
06:03Doing the same thing each day,
06:05even if that thing is working over and over,
06:07gets extremely boring and tedious.
06:08What our mind tends to do
06:10is go away from boredom
06:11into that shiny object.
06:13You see another mentor bring out a program.
06:15Another event comes out.
06:16Another type of funnel or website app
06:19comes out or something like that.
06:20And everybody jumps on board.
06:21And what's crazy is once they jump on board,
06:24even when things are working,
06:25they forget all the things that are working
06:27because it gets boring and tedious,
06:28which is bound to happen.
06:30Go to this new shiny object.
06:31It doesn't work.
06:32Then they can't figure out where they were before.
06:34If they do go back to what was working before,
06:36it's changed and things have moved on.
06:38You've got more competition.
06:39It no longer works.
06:41One thing I tell all my students is,
06:42and it's quite a stupid thing to say,
06:44but it's true.
06:45You'll know things are working the best
06:46and you'll be making the most amount of money
06:48when you're doing the same thing each day
06:50and it gets extremely boring.
06:52Now, people sure are going to say,
06:53well, if I enjoy what I do each day for my work,
06:56I'll never work a day of my life.
06:58That's fine.
06:58But that's just a cliche saying.
07:00I can admit it.
07:01I tell my students all the time.
07:02Here I am on a Sunday recording YouTube videos.
07:05This is not the highlight of my week.
07:06It's not the highlight of my day.
07:07I've done this so often.
07:08It's so boring.
07:09But it's part of my schedule.
07:11And I religiously stick to that
07:12because I know the output from this
07:15is going to be a very positive thing.
07:17I'm going to have more time for my students,
07:19more income for my company,
07:20gives me more time to do other things for my students.
07:23It's just a win-win for everybody.
07:25I'm never looking for what is the fun,
07:27shiny object thing,
07:28because that tends to be the thing that's not working.
07:29Once you know what works, guys,
07:31as far as your social media,
07:33sales calls, getting clients,
07:34just repeat those things every day.
07:36Shiny object thing, guys,
07:37if you keep jumping and jumping,
07:38it's as bad as niche jumping.
07:40It's as bad as following your emotions.
07:42It's as bad as not tracking.
07:43You might as well throw the towel in
07:44because it's never going to work, guys.
07:46So all in all,
07:47don't be too quick to change your niche.
07:49Is it an emotional change?
07:51If it is, be wary.
07:52Have you really done the inputs and the outputs?
07:54Are you tracking these things?
07:55Have you done enough work?
07:56Have you done everything you can possibly
07:58to exhaust that niche?
08:00If not, go back and do it.
08:01How did you find that original niche?
08:03Did you research it or did you just guess?
08:05Lastly, avoid shiny object, guys.
08:07Now, these are pretty obvious.
08:09People are going to look at this,
08:10I've heard all this before,
08:11Scott, I've done all this, it's still not working.
08:13Trust me, be honest with yourself, guys.
08:16Don't change your niche too quickly.
08:18The inputs and outputs
08:19and what you've really done per week
08:21is probably the most important part.
08:23Make sure you've exhausted that niche
08:24before you change it
08:25because you could be just on the cusp
08:27of some great income,
08:29a great business model,
08:30something amazing happening
08:31in your business, in your life.
08:32Then you let it go, you get complacent,
08:34you jump from niche to niche, shiny object,
08:36and you miss out on the lion's share of income, guys.
