Transcript
00:00Hi everyone, I'm Sarah, I'm a semi-abstract artist, and I'm going to show you how to create
00:29a semi-abstract figurative painter, and I am here at the beautiful Sheffield Botanical
00:36Gardens, and I would like to tell you a little bit about the painting behind me, it's called
00:41Fall Fast to Dreams, and it's based on a poem by the activist, social activist Langston
00:47Hughes, he's an American activist who has passed on, but he wrote this beautiful poem,
00:53it's only about six lines long, and it just talks about holding on to your dreams, never
00:58letting go no matter what happens, no matter, it's a terrible winter in terms of, you know,
01:03it's a figurative way of saying, you know, you're having a rough time in life, never
01:08give up on your dreams, because that's what makes life worth living.
01:12Hi, my name's Tom, and I'm here at the Art in the Gardens 2024, exhibiting my wildlife
01:21and pet portraits, and, well, it's all done in pastel, all drawn by myself, sitting down
01:27in Avoganda.
01:31Hi, my name's David Beatson, I'm a local artist from Mosborough, so I'm a painter
01:37in oils, predominantly I do work from life if I can, which is painting outdoors, but
01:44painting peat districts, coastal, or studio paintings, as I say, from life, still life,
01:50but it's nice to be here in Art in the Gardens, it's the first time I've done it, so it's
01:55nice as a local artist, really, to be able to put something to the local art community
02:00in Sheffield, so hopefully it'll be a great weekend, and meet some nice people, as well
02:05as hopefully sell some paintings.
