Nev Schulman is ready to hit the road again after breaking his neck in a near-fatal collision last month.

The "Catfish" star tells TMZ ... he's on the mend after he was hit by a truck while riding his e-bike in Long Island, NY ... revealing he's set to get an X-ray next week to see if his spine has fully healed. If so, Nev will be allowed to take off his neck brace ... which is necessary if he wants to start training for a marathon sooner rather than later.

00:00The headline is definitely on the mend, it's slow, but consistent and steady.
00:09The main updates are that next week I get an x-ray on my neck just to hopefully confirm
00:16that the spine has healed, which will allow the doctor to okay me taking off the neck
00:22brace.
00:24So fingers crossed, I do still have a lot of nerve pain and discomfort in my arms and
00:31hands, which is mainly why I've been wearing these gloves, they're just compression gloves,
00:35but they really help sort of turn the volume down on the tingling and the discomfort.
00:42But you know, every day getting my strength back a little bit, trying to go on longer
00:45and longer walks, and just be a little bit more involved around the house with my kids.
00:51So all in all, definitely feeling hopeful and it's looking good.
00:55The whole plan for the Honolulu Marathon has changed.
01:01That is not going to happen, not because I don't want to, but just for a number of other
01:06reasons.
01:07So I've sort of moved the partnership that I was doing related to the Honolulu Marathon
01:11into next year.
01:13My doctor is probably going to kill me for saying this, but I am very hopefully still
01:21ambitious that I will, once this comes off, get back to running, you know, jogging, whatever
01:27you want to call it.
01:29And even though I know it might not happen, I am going to try and see if I can complete
01:37the New York City Marathon in November.
01:41I know that's soon, but my friend who I've run it with, who I ran it with last year,
01:48he's a blind athlete.
01:50And he reached out to me and said, Neve, look, I know you're injured and I know, you know,
01:56it might be really difficult, but I'd love if you could still guide me this year.
02:01Even if it takes us very long, even if he doesn't care how fast or slow we go.
02:06He just wanted to sort of use it as a piece of motivation for me to say, look, you know,
02:12if you want it, I'm here and I'd love to have you guide me.
02:15This whole experience for me has, if anything, shown me that you really can't waste time.
02:23If there's something you want to do, there's something you've been thinking about doing,
02:26make it your priority, set a goal and go after it.
02:30And right now my goal is to rehab and to get back to my full health.
02:36And if I can use the New York City Marathon as a way to sort of pinpoint that goal, yes,
02:43it might be ambitious and I might find out very quickly once this comes off that it's
02:47not realistic, in which case I will not push myself and I'll take the time and space I
02:53need to get there.
02:55But if it is possible, it's a fun way to sort of, you know, get myself really motivated
03:03to do the work.
