00:00We start with Thursday night fallout from Arrowhead.
00:07The Chiefs may never lose another game in their history.
00:12Yeah, this one was so good.
00:14Yeah, the Ravens.
00:15This is this is such a great game.
00:17Okay, first of all Ravens kind of surprised me.
00:20They went right down and scored.
00:22So they're up 7-0 where they kind of take the crowd out of
00:24it for like a minute.
00:26Then the Chiefs kept, Chiefs kept scoring and taking over.
00:30I give the Ravens credit.
00:31They fought, they fought, they fought.
00:33We'll get to Isaiah Likely in a second.
00:34But there are a couple things, Scott, coming out of this game
00:36that concern me.
00:37Their pass protection.
00:38It doesn't show on sacks, but they gave up too much pressure
00:41overall.
00:41Their offensive line, the Ravens offensive line is a problem,
00:44particularly in the interior.
00:46So that's something, doing this little mini buy, they're
00:48gonna have to get fixed and cleaned up.
00:50The big stir this game was Isaiah Likely.
00:52I told you last night, best backup tight end in the National
00:54Football League.
00:55Also told you they're going to be heavy 12 personnel.
00:58Likely is going to be on the field pretty much more than
01:00any backup tight end.
01:01He was phenomenal.
01:02Led them in targets with 12, receptions with 9.
01:06Should have had a 10th.
01:08Isaiah will learn to make sure he gets his feet in.
01:10We all saw it.
01:10It was incredible.
01:12But he is a factor.
01:14I know, I know people who play fantasy worry about Mark
01:16Andrews.
01:17I think it had more to do with the pass protection.
01:20They're not getting Andrews involved.
01:21Andrews has to get involved.
01:23He's their starting tight end.
01:24It's only one game.
01:25People are overreacting.
01:27But the other thing that was interesting, Scott, we talked
01:30about this leading up to the game.
01:32Really thought we'd get more out of Henry and Jackson.
01:35I know Derek Henry scored and Lamar ran the ball well.
01:38Now, Lamar also scrambled a lot.
01:40But I was expecting, and I give the Chiefs credit, Steve
01:43Spagnuolo, defense coordinator, credit for hemming Lamar
01:46in as much as he could.
01:47It's really shutting down Henry.
01:49But I'm expecting going forward, we're going to see more
01:51explosive plays from Henry.
01:52Get him going more.
01:54Because eventually, it's going to explode.
01:56They're going to have to.
01:56Because I know in training camp, talking to the Ravens, they
01:59were kind of blown away with the defense's reaction in practice
02:03to what Lamar would do with the football.
02:05So we're expecting to see that going forward here.
02:07Now, defensively, look, we talked about this.
02:09Zach Ware's first game.
02:11They go up 27 points.
02:12That's concerning.
02:12It's only his first game.
02:14Mike McDonald, by the way, his first game as Ravens defense
02:18coordinator wasn't great.
02:19So we have to give Zach Ware time, the youngest defensive
02:22coordinator in the National Football League.
02:24It's only one game.
02:25You know, by the way, we remember when the Chiefs lost
02:26their first game to the Lions.
02:28When Chris Jones didn't play, and they had somebody else
02:31out, they wound up still winning the Super Bowl.
02:33So I don't worry about the first game.
02:35They learn a little bit.
02:35They got to clean some things up.
02:37Now, what I loved about the Chiefs, and I hate to bring
02:41this up with Carver on the show, but you saw it in game one.
02:46Xavier Worthy was incredible, electric, and they didn't
02:49even have Hollywood Brown in the game, who's the other
02:51fast receiver.
02:53Scott Worthy was a major factor.
02:56You saw, you see why they made that trade with the Bills.
02:59Right.
02:59And he scored on the run.
03:01He scored catching the football.
03:03He's going to be a major factor going on.
03:05He's not a guy's going to catch the ball a lot, by the way.
03:07You can see him on gadget plays, as I understand it, and
03:09rounds, and orbit motion, stuff like that.
03:12But he was phenomenal.
03:13And now the league has seen it.
03:15They have it on tape, and those other teams are going to
03:17have to react.
03:18So what was so bad with Lamar Jackson's, you know, 41
03:23attempts, 273.
03:26He obviously threw a TD, and he ran for 122.
03:30If I had a guy, and he was my quarterback, and he threw
03:34for 273 yards, and ran for 122 yards in the same game,
03:39I would be on cloud nine.
03:41What was so bad about his performance?
03:43I mean, he, you know, Holmes was barely better than him.
03:47No, but Scott, the first half, he struggled.
03:49I mean, I watched every play.
03:50I mean, he did not throw the ball well.
03:52He was not comfortable.
03:53Now, as I said, part of it was the pressure on Lamar, making
03:57him move when he didn't want to move, which is
04:00what you're looking for from a defensive coordinator at
04:02Spagnuolo with his blitz packages.
04:04I thought they did a great job, but they handled it.
04:06Lamar scrambled really, really well.
04:08The connection with Lightly was great, but they got to
04:11get, they got to get, say, Flowers to the football.
04:13They got to get Andrews to the football.
04:15I give them credit.
04:16Not easy to play there.
04:17We know that the Ravens were the NFL's best road team,
04:19certainly, in the regular season.
04:21They only lost one game.
04:22Not great at home, which is odd, but bottom line, they
04:25know what the Chiefs are.
04:27It's the toughest place to play the National Football
04:29League. It's tough.
04:29They hung in there.
04:31Game should have gone in overtime.
04:32Lightly's got to get his feet in.
04:33That was a great play, and Link now has got to be worried
04:36about when you face the Ravens' Isaiah Lightly.
04:38I mean, that kid is awesome out of Coastal Carolina,
04:40by the way.
04:41They're going to win.
04:42So many games make your head spin.
04:44They lost to the world champs like they always do.
04:47They can't beat the Kansas City Chiefs.
04:50Now they play the Raiders next Sunday.
04:52They'll kick their ass, and the Chiefs will play the
04:56Bengals at Arrowhead, and they'll be 2-0.
