Alas Pilipinas to go against Japanese clubs in friendlies

To further raise the bar of the Philippine national volleyball team, Alas Pilipinas men and women’s teams will go on a friendly match against Japan Clubs. Alas women’s head coach Jorge Souza de Brito shared that they want to learn from the system and playing style of the nine-time world champion Japan. In the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) press conference at the EDSA Shangrila Hotel on Sept.6, 2024, the league announced that the friendlies wee part of the week-long ceremony of the much-anticipated draw on September 14. Games will be held at the PhilSports Arena on September 7, with the Alas Pilipinas women battling the Saga Hisamitsu Springs at 3 p.m., while the Alas Pilipinas men will try to snatch a win over the Osaka Bluteon at 6 p.m.

00:00What are you looking forward to learn from the Japanese team?
00:05I think, probably will be the strongest one that we face in this, until now.
00:13We've been able to put in the national teams already, even in Vietnam, of course not Thailand.
00:19But, you know, this team is really, they are a good structure.
00:22So what we need is, they have a good system of defense.
00:25So try to learn, and always good, when you don't only look at them, but you play against them.
00:31So we had this experience in the past, in the past months, against Japan, the team Japan also.
00:39And then, right now, I think it will be the time that you can apply again, what you learned here, and then try to improve our team.
