00:00The number of people using rooftop solar energy in the country is increasing according to the Department of Energy.

00:06The target of the country is to increase the use of renewable energy to 50% by 2040.

00:14This is Bona Kino.

00:19In front of the Renewable Energy Stakeholders and Investors at the Clean Energy Philippines Conference and Expo,

00:25the Department of Energy divided the country's plan of 35% share in renewable energy in power generation by 2030.

00:34To achieve this, the government will give incentives and allow 100% foreign ownership in renewable energy projects.

00:555,000 megawatt installed capacity.

00:59So this is actually a testament that of all the projects that are being approved and registered with BOI,

01:08there is a more than 95% implementation success rate in terms of investments in renewable energy.

01:16The government is also encouraging voluntary renewable energy programs such as net metering, green energy option, and expanded rooftop solar program.

01:26Net metering installs solar panels usually in the roof.

01:32If the owner of the house does not use it, they can sell it to the distribution utility.

01:40We already have a regulatory framework and policies.

01:44You save around 15 to 20% of the cost if you build your own generating facility.

01:53And if the generating facility is solar powered by battery, in the long run, it's more competitive because it's comparable to a diesel gen set.

02:08Renewable energy companies were also given the opportunity to present to stakeholders and the government to collaborate on projects.
