Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil on Tuesday (Sept 3) called for a civil discussion on the draft memorandum of understanding (MoU) concerning allocations for Opposition MPs rather than publicising it in the media.

The Pakatan Harapan communications director stated that when the coalition was in the opposition, they held constructive discussions with former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and did not air such matters in the media.

00:00I would like to ask about the comment that was made by the National yesterday about the MOU
00:07for the opposition. It was said that it was a bit strange because there were certain conditions.
00:14One of the conditions was that the government had to support until the end.
00:23So I want to know what the logic is for the government to put such conditions
00:27and will the YB agree to such conditions?
00:33When I was the opposition, when we discussed this with the Prime Minister at that time,
00:43we did not discuss this with the media.
00:48So if they follow our steps first, discuss it well and properly, it will not be a problem.
00:56The Ministerial Committee that Mak Mohamad Dato' Syi Fadillah has stated,
01:01this is a draft, come and meet us, give us your views, we can discuss.
01:06So if he wants to argue openly like that, he should learn from how we did it.
01:15We did it in a proper and well-organized manner.
01:20And finally, the stability was achieved and the constitution was adopted.
01:27Even more importantly, a number of reforms that were hoped for were successfully implemented.
01:34So I urge Dato' Syi Takiyuddin and the opposition to meet the Ministerial Committee of Dato' Syi Fadillah
01:47and discuss it properly.
01:49That is the forum, not in the media as it has been done.
01:54That is not proper.
