00:00Sometimes, I forget completely what companionship is.
00:11Unconscious and insane, I spill sad energy everywhere.
00:19My story gets told in various ways, a romance, a dirty joke, a whore, a vacancy.
00:27Divide up my forgetfulness to any number will do a lot for me.
00:35These dark suggestions that I follow, are they a part of some plan?
00:41Friends, we care so much.
00:44Don't come near me out of curiosity, for some reason.
00:50So the question is, Ajali ji, what are these dark suggestions?
00:54Are they a part of some plan?
01:00It's all the misery, gloom of life.
01:03That is these dark suggestions.
01:06By suggestions, Rumi means the urge, the tendency, the motivation to remain in darkness, to act out of darkness.
01:24And there is a lot of that darkness in our life.
01:30We follow that, as if somebody is instructing us or advising or compelling.
01:41And we are following his suggestions.
01:54Now, Rumi is saying, are they a part of some plan?
02:04And that is also the question here.
02:07Are they a part of some plan?
02:09Yes, there is a plan.
02:12The plan is that you have to look at those suggestions and get rid of them.
02:22Somebody suggests you something.
02:28By following his suggestion, you find that your misery is deepening.
02:33Your darkness is deepening.
02:38What do you do with the suggestion?
02:41You dismiss it.
02:42Do you dismiss only the suggestion?
02:46No, you also dismiss the one who has been suggesting.
02:52And you have been following these suggestions since long.
02:57Sometimes you see how much pain comes out of these suggestions, sometimes you don't see that.
03:06As a result, you feel that some of your motivations are good for you and the others are not.
03:15You feel some of your actions are good and the others are not.
03:20You feel some of your thoughts are good and the others are not.
03:24Isn't it very common to see people distinguishing between positive thoughts and negative thoughts?
03:32We are prepared at most to dismiss some of our motivations, our urges.
03:46But even when we dismiss them, we dismiss them relatively.
03:52We dismiss the good in relation to the bad.
03:57Correct?
04:02We dismiss the bad in relation to the good.
04:07Which means that every time we dismiss the bad, we end up accepting something else as good.
04:14Every time you dismiss something bad,
04:21you end up accepting something that you call as good.
04:27So the rejection is never total.
04:30In fact, there is no rejection at all.
04:33It is a zero-sum game.
04:35Something has been rejected and in its lieu, something else has been accepted.
04:42So the center from where all these suggestions come,
04:48all the motivations arise, that center remains untouched, unscrutinized.
04:58Dismiss the very center.
05:01For that, you need to dismiss not only that which appears problematic
05:08but also that which appears auspicious.
05:13For that, you need to dismiss not only that which appears problematic
05:20but also that which appears auspicious.
05:31Then the plan will fructify.
05:37We do not enable the plan to achieve its result.
05:42The world is a plan.
05:48What is the objective of the plan?
05:51That the plan must be seen through.
05:54That the plan must be dismantled.
05:59When you are given a riddle, a puzzle,
06:06what is the objective?
06:08The objective is not that you remain forever caught in the riddle.
06:13The objective is that the riddle must be solved.
06:19That is the plan.
06:21The solution is the plan.
06:22The dissolution is the plan.
06:26Let the plan materialize.
06:38Rumi has said dark suggestions.
06:41I will add bright suggestions to it.
06:52Whether it is the dark suggestions that you follow
06:55or the bright suggestions that you follow,
06:57see where are all of these suggestions coming from.
07:02Suggestion is motivation.
07:04Suggestion is the urge to act.
07:08See where are all the dualistic, contrasting inclinations arising from.
07:18Sometimes you want to eat.
07:21Sometimes you don't want to.
07:23Sometimes you love.
07:25Sometimes you hate.
07:27Is there really a dimensional difference between our love and hate?
07:32Are they not just two sides of the same coin?
07:40Is love always not prepared to quickly turn into hate?
07:48Look at your enemies today.
07:54Do you have strangers there?
08:02All your enemies are but people who
08:11did not fulfill or could not fulfill the expectations
08:16that you had from them as friends.
08:21The dark and the bright are not merely coexisting.
08:26They are existing as each other.
08:32You may even say because of each other.
08:36Though that is not precise.
08:41But it is not false if you say
08:46that darkness exists because of so-called brightness.
08:52And the brightness exists only in relation to the darkness.
08:57They all arise from this darkness.
09:04And they both remain protected because they both appear different.
09:08Had they appeared same, both would have disappeared.
