00:00A very lengthy weather delay yesterday in the rivalry renewed
00:07between Penn State and West Virginia, but it didn't slow
00:10down the Nittany Lions offensively. Welcome to State
00:14College, Andy Konelnicki and welcome Drew Allard to the big
00:18show. Yesterday for PSU on the road in Morgantown, Penn State
00:22hammers West Virginia 34 to 12 easily covering as a seven and
00:28a half point favorite. A total of 49 and a hook stays under. We
00:32could go a variety of ways here, Joe, but Drew Allard throws for
00:35216 yards and three touchdowns, or you could look at the
00:38defensive effort out of the Nittany Lions holding the best
00:42rushing offense in the Big 12 from a season ago. WVU, who
00:45averaged close to 230 yards per game to only 85 yards on the
00:50ground as a team. Yeah, complete effort and Drew Allard stepped
00:53up 216 yards. He completed 11 of 17 passes, and again, we
00:58talked about it in regards to the pregame that last year, West
01:01Virginia week number one was one of Drew Allard's best efforts
01:04throwing for 323 and three touchdowns. The concern I had
01:09on the defensive side of the ball with Tom Allen taking over
01:12for Manny Diaz, they erased that. They held West Virginia
01:15to 2.3 yards per carry. We saw Singleton and Allen take over in
01:20regards to catching the football out of the backfield
01:22cap and running it as well over 220 in terms of that matchup.
01:26They continue that type of effort again from the schedule
01:29perspective. Everything lines up for Penn State to not just
01:34win a Big Ten championship, but potentially make the college
01:37football playoff. Penn State, though, is for me a perfect
01:40example of why I'm glad the CFP rankings don't come out until
01:43later in the year, and to a degree, I almost wish they
01:46didn't come out until they came out because they're eighth
01:50right now. There are going to be some losses in front of I
01:54mean, this team doesn't play a game where you're going to
01:56consider them losing until the trip on October 12th, the USC
02:01and their other teams will just play games. Yeah. So I won't be
02:04surprised if we do a Ben's top ten, which we're going to do
02:07today. Yeah. Where you have them fourth fifth in the country
02:10and it'll be because they're unbeaten. They've looked really
02:13good and all you have to do sometimes with rankings is get
02:18to a number and even if you lose, it's hard to get you out
02:22of that range and this is the debates that we were having
02:25with our CFP brackets and I know I didn't have Penn State
02:29in and I know that you did get. I think we both might have
02:31said. Okay. I like him at ten and two all in all if they lose
02:34to USC, they enter the game fourth ranked. They're not
02:38going to fall out of the top twelve probably right if they
02:41beat USC, they're probably automatically then into the
02:44college football playoff. No matter what happens to that
02:47Ohio State game, that's what makes Penn State so
02:50fascinating. I don't worry as much about the specifics of
02:54this game because the fact that I'm not a big believer in West
02:59Virginia Andrew Owlers best game last year was also a guest
03:03against West Virginia. I just I wonder if if if Penn State is
03:08and it was almost reinforced watching them win a game that
03:10was supposed to be difficult going to schedule their way in
03:14to a college football playoff. It's a very favorable path.
03:17Penn State's Bugaboo has been in the Big Ten East not in
03:20getting past Michigan and Ohio State consistently. They play
03:24the Buckeyes this year but don't have Michigan on the
03:26schedule and based on FBS opponent win total projections.
03:30The Nittany Lions have the easiest slate in all of the Big
03:33Ten this season.
