00:00Commanders General Manager Adam Peters kind enough to join us on Grant and Danny with the roster
00:05initially formed there will be tweaks I'm sure as we get closer to week one along the Dotson
00:11trade front you don't seem to have any issues trading in the division is your philosophy
00:17best return possible regardless of who's offering it or is that case by case where
00:22maybe if it was a quarterback or something you might think twice about having to play a guy twice
00:26yeah I think almost everything's case by case and you look at everything every decision in
00:32its own kind of light and but uh in this case with Jahad um you know that was that was clearly
00:40the best offer I think at a tie if you if you know give me some truth serum the tie is going
00:45to go to the team outside of the division but uh you know there's not always going to be a tie
00:50and so um in in this case there wasn't and in this case you know how he was very aggressive and
00:57they were um you know they were very bullish on Jahan and rightfully so so um you know that you
01:04know but every every time it's going to be different but I mean if it's you know it's
01:07the Cowboys and and and the Steelers and everything's the same you know that and we're making
01:13a trade it's probably going to go to Pittsburgh were there more multiple teams you were talking
01:17to or just the Eagles um you know I don't like to get I mean I can tell you that a lot of teams
01:23were interested in Jahan because he's a good good player whether but in terms of you know real
01:28offers you know that that's that's a different story too you know I think the the thing that
01:34it's really cool for people to understand is um really all priesties and our pro scouting staff
01:41is you know scouring um the internet and they're and they're reading about things who could be
01:46available who's not available and they're making phone calls to all the 31 other teams in the league
01:51so there is a ton of conversations that happen um and you know out of all those conversations
01:58very little actually is executed in terms of trade so um whether it's Jahan or Ridge or
02:04anybody like that there's there's thousands of conversations that that like in in uh they're
02:11on the cutting room floor I don't know what's that like what they say in uh movies and stuff
02:15but really a lot of that stuff doesn't see the light of day so uh there's a lot of conversations
02:20some are more serious than others but um in the end with Jahan that was that was really the the
02:26best offer for us Adam semi-related to the John Ridgway trade how do you view late round picks
02:32like I think when we hear a six or a seven within a fan base it's almost like a dismissiveness
02:38but for a guy that was at the back of your roster to get picks at all do you view it as like just as
02:43many as you can have it gives you ammunition to move around later or what's your general
02:47philosophy you guys now have two threes two sixes among your hall for for next year's draft yeah I
02:54love late round picks and I think um you know there's a lot of different things they can become
02:58they can be packaged to into another trade and to move up in a draft or or to get another pick
03:05uh or you know we've had you know some success in in my history hitting on late round picks so um
03:13that's really where our scouting staff makes their hay and and once you you know I think we
03:18have a really good scouting staff here guys that really understand what we're looking for and
03:22and that's only going to get stronger as we work together with this coaching staff and really
03:26identify what they're looking for so those picks you know those you can hit on those picks and
03:31they're not always going to be home runs but um in you know the places that I've been we've hit on
03:36a lot of great late round picks and those guys become pro bowlers and more so um every pick
03:43valuable to us and and really with with the scouting staff that we have I think those are
03:48um those are really valuable even more so
