00:00Kenley Jansen, after the game, said that you guys have been pressing a little bit, that
00:03everybody had been kind of tight.
00:04Is that something that you observed?
00:06Do you agree with that assessment?
00:09We got a lot of young guys playing their first big league season, right, and when you get
00:15to the big leagues, you're trying to establish yourself.
00:18The kids have done an amazing job so far, let's not take that away from them.
00:23But obviously, you know, we put ourselves in a position that we get a chance to make
00:27it to the playoffs, and they've never been through that.
00:32That's not part of player development, right?
00:34Player development is about your skills, your swing, your defense, base running, your pitches.
00:41You know, it's not that in player development they don't care about winning, but it's actually
00:46secondary, right?
00:47We're trying to make these guys better so they can make it to the big leagues as soon
00:50as possible.
00:51And we had four bad days, too, you know, like we went to Houston, we won a series.
00:57We went to Baltimore, we split a series.
01:00We beat the Rangers, the Astros swept us.
01:02So it's not as bad as people are portraying it, it just happens that when we lost four
01:07in a row or five in a row, whatever it is, other teams were winning, and then the standing
01:13changed.
01:14But yesterday we won, we gained some ground on some teams, the teams in the American League
01:20Central, they're going to battle, you know, Detroit, Minnesota, Kansas City, and Cleveland.
01:25So from our end, take care of your business and then look around, see where you're at.
01:29And we get into September 1st, we feel like that's when you say, OK, this is what we got
01:34to do to make it to the playoffs.
01:36Let's try to win the series against the Jays, go to Detroit, do the same thing.
01:40And by Monday, we know what we have to do and we'll take care of the rest.
