இரண்டு உலகப் போர்களை சந்தித்து விட்டோம், மூன்றாவது உலகப்போர் நிகழ்ந்து விடுமோ? என்ற அச்சத்தில் வாழ்ந்துகொண்டிருக்கிறோம். இந்தத் தருணத்தில நமக்கு அதிகம் தேவைப்படுவது பணமோ, தொழில்நுட்பமோ, இராணுவ பலமோ, விஞ்ஞான அதிசயமோ அல்ல. அன்பும் நேசமும், பாசமும் கருணையும்தான். அத்தனைக்கும் ஒட்டு மொத்த இலக்கணமாய் வாழ்ந்தவர், இன்றும் கோடிக்கணக்கான உள்ளங்களில் வாழ்ந்துகொண்டிருப்பவர் அன்பின் ஒட்டுமொத்த உருவம் அன்னை தெரசா.1910 ஆம் ஆண்டு ஆகஸ்ட் 27 ந்தேதி யூகோஸ்லாவியாவில் அக்னேஸ் கோன்ச்ஹா போஜக்ஸ்ஹயு (Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu) என்ற குழந்தை பிறந்தது. பிற்காலத்தில் அன்பின் முகவரியாக அந்த குழந்தை விளங்கும் என்பது அதன் பெற்றோருக்கு அப்போது தெரியாது. ரோமன் கத்தோலிக்க தேவலாயத்தில் கன்னியாஸ்திரி ஆன பிறகு அவர் சகோதரி தெரசா என்று பெயர் மாற்றிக்கொண்டார். 1929 ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜனவரி 6 ந்தேதி தனது 19 ஆவது வயதில் கல்கத்தாவில் காலடி வைத்தார் அன்னை தெரசா. மேலும் தெரிந்து கொள்ள
