00:00The number of unconfirmed cases of MPOCS in the Philippines has reached 12 since July 2022.

00:19The two new cases in the country are both mild cases of MPOCS.

00:22The number of confirmed cases in the Philippines has increased to 12 since July 2022.

00:28MPOCS case number 11 is of a 37-year-old man from Metro Manila who is confined in a public hospital.

00:35On August 20, his symptoms were first noticed.

00:38He had rashes all over his body, so he went to the doctor.

00:42The 12th case of MPOCS, also of a 32-year-old man from Metro Manila, also returned home.

00:48His symptoms were first noticed on August 14.

00:51His body was strong and his lesions were covered.

00:55He was allowed to go home and he will stay at home for the rest of the isolation period.

01:01The two new cases of MPOCS in the country have both intimate skin-to-skin contact.

01:06In MPOCS case number 10, he is recovering but is not yet discharged from the hospital because of a medical condition.

01:13The DOH said that these cases are already locally transmitted and are not connected to the outbreak in the Republic of Congo

01:19which resulted in the declaration by the World Health Organization or WHO of the Public Health Emergency of International Concern.

01:27Now with heightened awareness and increased detection by our dermatologists and other primary care providers,

01:34we can see that our cases are most likely in the area.

01:38MPOCS case is being monitored but not yet confirmed in a provincial hospital in Northern Samar.

01:44Five to ten MPOCS cases are being reported daily in the DOH,

01:49but it is not being reported to the public until the laboratory test is confirmed.

01:54Intimate skin-to-skin contact or skin-to-skin contact in MPOCS, according to the DOH,

01:59if it is just a touch, for example handshake, and there are no lesions.

02:03This is considered low risk.

02:05You just need to drink alcohol and wash your hands.

02:07If the skin contact is long, this is a medium to high risk.

02:11Intimate contact when hugging, kissing, or kissing, that is prolonged.

02:17Which means it becomes medium to high risk, especially since the patients cannot see their whole body.

02:35To avoid MPOCS, according to the DOH, in commuters or going to crowded places,

02:46The priority of the WHO is to give the MPOCS vaccine to the Congo where there is an outbreak,

02:51but the Philippines has already requested 2,000 doses of the vaccine.

02:55This is not for general vaccination.

02:57The priority is frontliners, particularly dermatologists.
