Women's Open at St Andrews

Scotsman golf correspondent Martin Dempster reports from the final round of the Women's Open at St Andrews Old Course.

00:00Hello, it's Martin Dempsey, the Scotsman Golf Correspondent here, coming to you from the

00:06Old Course at St Andrews. At the end of the third round in the AIG Women's Open, the final

00:14major of the 2024 season. It was another challenging day for the world's top women players on the

00:23Fife Coast today, and at the end of it, we have a new leader, Korea's Jaya Shin, a two-time

00:32winner. She shot a 67 in the afternoon, the best score in the afternoon, to move to 7

00:38under par, and she holds a one-shot lead going into tomorrow's final round. She'll be the

00:46first player to win this event since it became a major in 2001, three times, if she can stay

00:54out in front tomorrow, but she's got some big guns chasing her down. Leading that chase

01:02is the defending champion, Lilia Vu. She picked up three shots in the final five holes. She's

01:08finished all her three rounds strongly so far, and she's bidding to become the first

01:14player to win this event back-to-back since 2011. A further shot back is Nelly Korda,

01:21the world number one. She started the day with a three-shot lead. She was still out in front with

01:28the final few holes to play. Out of nowhere, she hit her tee shot out of bounds at the 16th, took

01:34a double bogey, six there, dropped a shot at the 17th before birdieing the 18th, and she's hoping

01:41the way she finished that hole will give her a bit of momentum going into tomorrow's final round.

01:47Olympic champion Lidia Koh, she's one of two players on four under par, so she's in the mix.

01:53England's Charlie Hull, she slipped five shots back, but with more wind set to blow here tomorrow,
