Friday Night Live 23 August 2024

In this episode, I explore the complexities of household dynamics and the contentious division of labor between genders, inspired by a tweet suggesting men would help with chores if asked. I delve into male obliviousness to domestic tasks and share personal anecdotes about my evolving understanding of responsibilities.
The conversation highlights emotional labor and how women's invisible work often goes unrecognized. I discuss the benefits of specialization in partnerships and the deeper issues contributing to relational stress. Ultimately, this episode aims to foster understanding around family dynamics, balancing humor with the weight of personal histories in navigating these challenges.

00:00:00Good evening, good evening everybody, welcome, welcome to your 230824 Friday Night Live.
00:00:13Now I have had, do it, do it, I'm not ranting for a buck fifty, do it, a slight instigation
00:00:23for a rant.
00:00:24Now you know I have virtually endless, bottomless, intergalactic patience with human stupidity,
00:00:31but I really feel I've reached my cap, I am full, my cup runneth over with black acid
00:00:41green belly of the dragon bile at the near infinity of human retardation.
00:00:50I think I put up a pretty good front, wouldn't you say?
00:00:53I think it's all fairly believable and fairly credible, that I'm like, oh, love the world,
00:01:00want to bring philosophy, my lovely fellow bald bipeds, let us reason together, saith
00:01:05the staff.
00:01:08I think I keep things fairly peppy, fairly positive, fairly friendly, and I'm afraid
00:01:14today the facade will crumble.
00:01:23It will crumble, but only for a moment, you're here to catch it live, the crack in the armor,
00:01:29you will see the soft gooey vitriol underneath, and then it will seal up again, and I shall
00:01:35be doth peppy and positive once more, but tonight, and tonight only, we are gonna have
00:01:44a little bit of bitterness.
00:01:48Is that okay?
00:01:50Hit me with a Y or a B if a little bit of bitterness is okay.
00:01:57I like to think I'm friendly to all of my moods, I like to think I'm friendly to all
00:02:03of my moods, and bitterness, while not exactly a mood, whoo, I'm feeling it tonight, I am
00:02:12feeling it tonight.
00:02:18This is really, really something.
00:02:20So I'm just gonna paraphrase one of the biggest tweets of the last couple of days.
00:02:29And the tweet goes something like this, you may have had a conversation like this or two
00:02:33about the course of your mortal existence, thank you for the tip, but I will tell you,
00:02:40I will tell you what is going on.
00:02:44So the tweet, the instigating tweet goes something like this, hey ladies, if there's something
00:02:52that needs to be done around the house, feel free to tell us, we're absolutely happy to
00:02:58help Saeth, the testicularly enhanced, we're so super keen to help you ladies that all
00:03:06you have to do is just tell us and we're in, we're done, we're doing it, man, we are all
00:03:11over that, just let us know.
00:03:18To which, this is akin to pulling a grenade onto estrogen testicles made of hand grenades
00:03:24because then what happened, flying through the air, you've got Sarah Connor at the gates.
00:03:35What is it, that Sarah Connor melting on the chain link fangs in Terminator 2 and it's
00:03:42like the average mosquito being hit with a left-wing person's 16 boosters and 22 antidepressants?
00:03:53So apparently the ladies, in their delightfully depthy reason, decided to grace this particular
00:04:01request for being pointed in the right direction with, my God, can you not open your eyes and
00:04:09see what needs to be done?
00:04:12My God, the laundry hamper is full, the garbage is full, the dishes need to be done, there's
00:04:18stickiness on the floor to the point where it feels like you're on some Veltro space
00:04:22station from a Stanley Kubrick movie.
00:04:27How can you not see what needs to be done?
00:04:32How is it possible that a man can, like a blindfolded beholder, bounce around helium
00:04:39balloon-style through a house and not notice all the things that need to be done?
00:04:47And of course then a number of women were like, well I only do my thing, I wash my dishes,
00:05:01I do my laundry, I do my thing, you can do your thing, I'm gonna do my thing.
00:05:10Why is it that women have to take care of the household?
00:05:13Why is it that I have to remember the doctor's appointments?
00:05:16Why is it that I have to remember when the kids need to see the dentist?
00:05:19Why is it that I have to do the laundry?
00:05:21Why is it on me?
00:05:22Me?
00:05:23Me?
00:05:24Wah.
00:05:25Cleavage shaking commences, actually that's kind of true for me too, but that's a story
00:05:31for another time.
00:05:32I know I am, but what are you, nika nika nika nika nika, it's like two kids in the back
00:05:42seat of a car, oh don't put your finger over the line, I didn't put my finger, just my
00:05:46fingertip, nini nini nini, oh my god.
00:05:52If pettiness were an Olympic sport, 98% of humanity would get solid fucking gold.
00:06:02It's wild.
00:06:04Look I'm gonna do my laundry, you do your laundry, I'm not your mother.
00:06:09Ahhhhhh, that's the sound of my soul leaving my body, ahhhh.
00:06:21And hold on to the dream.
00:06:26Oh my gosh, the level at which humanity operates.
00:06:30We have this god universe granted four pounds of genius wetware between the ears and what
00:06:36do we do?
00:06:37I know I am, but none of you.
00:06:39Oh, roses are red and violets are blue.
00:06:42What you say bounces off of me and sticks to you.
00:06:46Petty, petty, petty, petty, petty.
00:06:54I'm going to vacuum my side of the carpet.
00:06:57You do your side.
00:06:58It's got to be equal.
00:07:03Hit me with a why if you've ever had anything like this in your mind and in your life.
00:07:15Have you been witness to anything like this?
00:07:24Must be a real young guy to think asking that was a good idea.
00:07:30Hope he learned a lesson.
00:07:35Oh, the type to wash only their dishes and leave a dirty cup or plate so petty.
00:07:45All right, let's get to a couple of your comments before I uncork the rant bot.
00:07:57Good evening, good evening, and welcome.
00:08:00Welcome tonight.
00:08:01All right, I got your question about politics.
00:08:02I will get to it.
00:08:04I semi-promise.
00:08:05Whoa.
00:08:06I will get to that.
00:08:11Love the show.
00:08:13I appreciate that.
00:08:15Uh-oh.
00:08:18All right.
00:08:20Steph, I saw that post about tattoos and how you called it.
00:08:23My theory is that you're not only actually bald, but rather your head is a crystal ball.
00:08:28There is some thunderous bowling as my head spins down the lane, but yeah, I would think
00:08:3515 years I got dragged through a mountain of termite shit because I happened to point
00:08:42out that tattoos were a mark of mental dysfunction and emotional immaturity, and the data is
00:08:48out now, and it's all completely true.
00:08:52Greetings from Northeast Pennsylvania.
00:08:54Well, thank God, because I can't stand Southwest Pennsylvania, but you, my friend, are absolutely
00:08:59welcome.
00:09:00I'm just kidding.
00:09:01I don't have any particular opinions about either.
00:09:02Pennsylvania?
00:09:03Hey, isn't that where Dracula's from?
00:09:07I needed to thank you for your timing on the dangers of helping video since I just cut
00:09:10ties with a friend I've had for 30 years, except you didn't.
00:09:21I saw Jared Taylor speaking Japanese in a 2018 interview.
00:09:24Pretty funny.
00:09:25That dude is pretty fit, too.
00:09:26The man can do some pull-ups.
00:09:28Let's not doubt that.
00:09:30Donated 30 at FDR to give you the juice.
00:09:33Ah, the juice question.
00:09:36I appreciate that.
00:09:39What has you bitter at the moment?
00:09:42I'm sorry, did you not join the beginning, and you would like to be recycled?
00:09:50Hello from Sweden.
00:09:52Steph, love the meatballs, indifferent to the furniture, been listening to you for many
00:09:56years and really appreciate what you do.
00:09:58Some of your knowledge has worked itself into my thick skull.
00:10:00Hey, if it's any consolation, it took philosophy about 20 years to work its way into my thick
00:10:04skull.
00:10:05I'm just trying to help everybody jump the queue, so to speak.
00:10:08I've experienced a lot of pointless bickering and sadly played my part as well.
00:10:13So tiring, those relationships.
00:10:14You've never had something like that?
00:10:16Good, good, good.
00:10:19It's like that movie, The Breakup.
00:10:22My sister's been through a lot of dick.
00:10:25It's actually pretty funny.
00:10:29All right.
00:10:31My roommate at college wiped the dust only of his side of the furniture.
00:10:36Me and my wife had this with each other.
00:10:37We have worked hard to change that behavior.
00:10:40It's rare someone acts petty like that around me.
00:10:42Sorry, Simph, I get it.
00:10:46So apparently, apparently, apparently, women feel very hard done by not having to be, I
00:10:57don't know, oil drillers, gold panners, sewage workers, construction workers.
00:11:03What are other things?
00:11:04Women, it's just very, very hard, you see, very, very hard for women that they don't
00:11:09get drafted.
00:11:10Very, very tough for women that men chase them all over Hell's Green Acre, very tough
00:11:14for women that men buy them just about everything their little hearts desire when they're young
00:11:20and attractive.
00:11:21Just very, very tough on women.
00:11:24They are just, it's so hard, man.
00:11:27It's just, you just don't know how hard it is to be a woman.
00:11:31What was that subversive movie, The Rose?
00:11:36I know all about the blues, because I'm a woman.
00:11:40Yeah.
00:11:41I mean, listen, women have their stuff about their lives, it's tough, but okay, ladies,
00:11:48let me sort of explain it to you, because I absolutely love women as a whole.
00:11:55I really do.
00:11:56I live with two wonderful females.
00:11:57I have been influenced by many great female thinkers and writers and intellectuals and
00:12:03philosophers, love the ladies.
00:12:06So this is not for a lot of y'all, but it's for some, gonna break something down for you.
00:12:17Someone has to be in charge of the household.
00:12:22It's not because of unfairness.
00:12:24It's because of basic efficiency.
00:12:29So let me lay down some facts on you.
00:12:33Maybe you've only lived alone, maybe you've only ever need to feed your cat or goldfish.
00:12:40Let me lay it down for you.
00:12:41So if you have husband, wife, three kids, right, snap, crackle and pop, husband and
00:12:51wife and three kids.
00:12:53So there's a huge amount of work.
00:12:57Let's just talk about groceries.
00:12:59Just talk about groceries.
00:13:01Knowing what you have, knowing what you're running low on, knowing what people like to
00:13:04eat, knowing what's on sale, knowing what's available, knowing what's cheaper, knowing
00:13:08what's best, knowing what's worth cutting corners on and what's not worth cutting corners
00:13:12on, is a supply chain issue in the household.
00:13:20My wife knows where things are in the fridge and basement I didn't even know we had.
00:13:26Apparently we have a basement.
00:13:27Oh, actually, no, I know that we have a basement because sometimes I just need to go down there
00:13:33and think about what I've done.
00:13:34Actually, it's kind of true.
00:13:37That's philosophy.
00:13:38So my wife has, she juggles jugglers who themselves are juggling jugglers and she does it in a
00:13:48pleasantly jiggly fashion.
00:13:50So she's got all these balls in the air.
00:13:53Oh, we're low on this and Izzy likes that and this is coming in.
00:13:57This is not in season yet.
00:13:58This is going to be at its freshest now and this, that and the other.
00:14:01She knows the giant flow.
00:14:03If you've ever seen the map of all the tributaries of the Mississippi River, that's my wife managing
00:14:10the comings and goings of the household.
00:14:13Now, if I dare to step in and try to help her, she turns, well, frankly, evil.
00:14:21I mean, it's for a good cause.
00:14:22So you can't say it's a hundred percent evil, but it's just like, honey, can I help?
00:14:28She's very pleasant and an absolutely lovely person.
00:14:32But she goes from a drugged out, happy, joy, joy to golem on cocaine with a kidney stone.
00:14:40If I do try to help, hey, I'm going to be in town.
00:14:44Is there anything I can do?
00:14:50So that's a no?
00:14:51Yes, that is, in fact, a no.
00:15:02There is almost no greater threat to an organized woman than an offer to help her.
00:15:12See, if you want to know what that's like if you're a single guy, I want you to imagine
00:15:19an expert juggler who's got three chainsaws, one cow, a running lawnmower, and a couple
00:15:26of bladed knives, and a Pikachu in the air, flying around, and you're like, hey, I'd
00:15:32love to step in and help.
00:15:34And they're like, back off.
00:15:36I'm about to die if you try to help.
00:15:40It's a lovely singing voice.
00:15:49So, this would be the equivalent of my wife saying, oh, I decided to reformat your computers
00:16:07to speed them up.
00:16:08I mean, they seem to be a lot faster now.
00:16:11A soundless tinnitus noise from here to eternity.
00:16:15I'm sure men have that thing.
00:16:19I reorganized your cables.
00:16:21No, I'll never find anything ever again.
00:16:25I mean, it's true that I couldn't find anything before, but now you've given me an excuse
00:16:28and I got it.
00:16:29I threw out some cables because they were dusty.
00:16:32No, what if I ever want to get those Iomega parallel port zip drives from 1982 back up
00:16:37and run?
00:16:38I decided to organize your tools.
00:16:55I mean, honestly, they were just lying in a pretty haphazard fashion, so I decided to
00:17:00organize your tools.
00:17:02Really.
00:17:03Why don't you just take me to the vet and cut my balls off?
00:17:09You know, that project you've been working on for a while in the garage, you know, the
00:17:13one with the wood and the brackets and the, I don't know, some stuff, it had just been
00:17:18lying there for a while, so I packed it all up nicely and I tied some twine around it,
00:17:24and it's there if you want it, but it just was kind of in the way a little bit, so it's
00:17:28all been tidied away for you, except, you know, my wife actually gets things done, unlike
00:17:34my projects.
00:17:39I decided to launder your SD cards, because they looked dirty.
00:17:47Oh, gosh.
00:17:55So someone's got to be in charge of this stuff.
00:17:58Apparently, I don't know if you knew this, but it seems to be a fact known only to the
00:18:04estrogenally enhanced members of the species, but apparently, you do different things for
00:18:14different clothes in the laundry.
00:18:18Apparently, if you do this, towels actually bend.
00:18:22Did you know that?
00:18:23Apparently, they're not just actually like sheets of ice that you, you don't really dry
00:18:26yourself, you just scrape the water off and leave your skin raw.
00:18:30Apparently, there's magic to underpants.
00:18:34I'm not talking the Mormon kind.
00:18:35There's magic, to the point where if I do my laundry, I can build forts out of my underpants
00:18:43and I walk around until my legs fall off from excessive chafing.
00:18:47However, my wife adds magic female estrogen juice and basically, I'm sitting in duck down
00:18:54at the moment.
00:18:55Oh.
00:18:56Wait, no, so I'm not actually a duck, but I'm sitting on a cloud.
00:19:01I walk on a cloud.
00:19:02It's like I'm going commando, except lighter.
00:19:06If angels sung high notes of glorious praise to God, their breath would be holding my nether
00:19:13regions up, much like my wife's wonderful anti-gravity, can't even feel them, amazing
00:19:19underpants.
00:19:21It's incredible.
00:19:22When I used to do my own laundry, all of my underpants turned gray, became somewhat sentient,
00:19:27and attempted to decapitate me whenever I ran, because they'd ride up so high that it
00:19:33would be pretty much like a fruit of the loom guillotine for my jugular.
00:19:38So, she does this amazing stuff.
00:19:40She knows what's going on.
00:19:43Apparently, there's also things called repetitive tasks.
00:19:46Now, I myself am not particularly good with repetitive tasks, because even thinking about
00:19:54them is too boring to come up with an explanation.
00:19:56So I'm not really good at them.
00:19:57But my wife has pretty much an infinite series of highly, highly varied sand timers.
00:20:05You know, those little hourglass timers?
00:20:06She turned them over like egg timers, used to have those when I was a kid.
00:20:09And half of her, if you've listened to the song Time from the album Dark Side of the
00:20:14Moon, you know, when you're a teenager, and you're like, I'm gonna put on some mellow
00:20:18songs, man, I'm gonna sit on the couch, I'm just gonna listen to some TuneAge on my headphones,
00:20:22man.
00:20:23And then, it's like, take it away, and then brrrring, like all of these six million clocks
00:20:27go off and wake the shit out of you, and your soul leaves your body and looks back with
00:20:32great envy at your whitening corpse.
00:20:36Well, that's my wife's brain.
00:20:40She has an enormous amount of alarm clocks going off.
00:20:42It's just wild to see.
00:20:43But apparently, it's been four months and four seconds since we were at the dentist,
00:20:48so you gotta go back.
00:20:49She's on a four-month schedule, I'm on a three-month schedule, she keeps all of this running.
00:20:55Today we were gonna head out, and I'm like, oh, I have a private call.
00:20:59My wife would never have forgotten that, never in a million years.
00:21:01I don't usually forget it, but I just forgot it.
00:21:03So, I did a private paid call this afternoon, which was actually really wild.
00:21:08Just amazing.
00:21:09Freedomain.com slash call, you should...
00:21:12It's a whole different experience, I'm telling you, it is a radically different experience
00:21:14doing a private call, I just wanted to sort of mention that.
00:21:16It's not a big ad or anything, because the guy was like, well, I know you don't tell
00:21:20people what to do, it's like, I do want private calls, you want a plan of action, I'll tell
00:21:25you what to do on a private call, I just don't want to do it on a public call.
00:21:30So, my wife's just got all these alarms going off, right?
00:21:34She knows everything about everything, and offering to help is akin to if you've got
00:21:43a smoothie that you're gonna make, and you put all the fruit and milk and stuff and whey
00:21:49powder and creatine or whatever you're putting in there, you put all of that in your blender,
00:21:54right?
00:21:55And then you hit, you hit frappe, right?
00:21:56And the blender just starts doing its thing.
00:21:58It's kind of akin to reaching into the blender to help the blades, doesn't help the blades,
00:22:02but you're gonna lose a hand.
00:22:04That's very much what it's like trying to help my wife.
00:22:07I really, really want to help her.
00:22:09She has relegated me to getting her three o'clock coffee, which I usually remember out
00:22:14of guilt and obligation, I will get her her three o'clock coffee.
00:22:18But I don't know what goes on, there's a giant whirlwind.
00:22:22So for instance, apparently, there's this thing called mail that you're supposed to
00:22:30open.
00:22:31I mean, I remember a friend of mine, after he got married, his wife was looking for something
00:22:35in the bedroom and just pulled out in the drawer, there was just a bunch of mail.
00:22:39And she's like, this is your mail.
00:22:43Why isn't it opened?
00:22:44He's like, oh yeah, I just toss it in there.
00:22:49To which her soul left her body and went back to her pre-married state.
00:22:55Because she's like, she couldn't comprehend it.
00:22:57You got mail, you didn't.
00:22:58I just, you know, I toss it in there, I'll get to it, I mean, if it's really important,
00:23:02people will call.
00:23:03It's like, yes, they might call, or they might just have you arrested because you didn't
00:23:08do something that you were supposed to.
00:23:12So she pulled out, then she said it was like 200 pieces of mail that he hadn't opened in
00:23:16the last couple of months.
00:23:18Some of it was actually quite important.
00:23:21But there is this thing called mail.
00:23:25It needs to be opened.
00:23:27And it seems that on a relatively common or often basis, stuff needs to be done based
00:23:38upon the contents of the mail.
00:23:40Now, you'd think that it would be a man's job to open the mail, what with it being a
00:23:43homonym and all, but apparently this is just, she just averts it.
00:23:47I think I get mail.
00:23:50Occasionally I have to sign things.
00:23:51I'm pretty sure it's been my soul, one of my kidneys, and Isabella's firstborn.
00:23:57But apparently there is mail.
00:23:59I don't really see it.
00:24:01But occasionally I have to sign stuff.
00:24:09There are people who need to look at you naked in the world.
00:24:17I'm not just talking about Stefan's OnlyFans, but there are people who need to see you naked
00:24:22in the world, particularly when you get over 40.
00:24:26They want to look at you from every angle and just drink in the beluga man meat of your
00:24:32middle-aged excellence.
00:24:37Those people are called dermatologists.
00:24:39And particularly as a blue-eyed, formerly blonde, fair-skinned person, it's quite important
00:24:43that dermatologists do unholy things to me with rubber gloves.
00:24:48Actually it does involve holes apparently.
00:24:49So I need to turn around under fluorescent lights.
00:24:53I thought there'd be more disco lights.
00:24:54I thought I might get a pole or something like that, maybe a tool belt to gyrate around,
00:25:00something like that.
00:25:01Apparently when they ask you to undress, you're not supposed to belt into a rousing rendition
00:25:05of You Can Leave Your Hat On and do a bump and grind, but again, she seems to know this
00:25:10in some mysterious fashion as well.
00:25:14So who should deal with these things?
00:25:17Well, if you both try and deal with them, you will destroy each other.
00:25:22Two people trying to work on the same home tasks is like matter and antimatter colliding
00:25:27or Hall and Oates being in the same room apparently these days, as they were before.
00:25:32So you just can't.
00:25:34Someone's going to need to do it.
00:25:35It's going to need to be efficient.
00:25:38And for it to be efficient, both people can't be doing it.
00:25:42If I notice that I am low on milk, God himself cannot help me if I decide to come home with
00:25:55milk.
00:25:59I cannot come home with milk because my wife is dealing with it and we can't have too much
00:26:10milk and there's a backup milk somewhere.
00:26:15We might have 19 cows.
00:26:17I don't know.
00:26:19I shouldn't know.
00:26:20I can't know.
00:26:21I mustn't know.
00:26:22I must just trust the supply chain that is short and enormously acute.
00:26:31I must trust it.
00:26:33It is a trust exercise I'm still working on after 22 years.
00:26:38I will reach for things and there will be a shimmer in the space-time continuum and
00:26:43they will spawn into existence when I reach for them.
00:26:50Amazing.
00:26:51Amazing.
00:26:52My wife suggested I switch from peanut butter to almond butter for health reasons.
00:27:02I'm like, fine.
00:27:05And then she got me some almond butter that apparently is a gelatinous cube with a few
00:27:11nuts at the bottom, you know, like my abdomen.
00:27:14Gelatinous cube with a few nuts at the bottom.
00:27:17And I mentioned that it was kind of oily and then it despawned and what respawned was
00:27:24a less oily almond butter.
00:27:30And she keeps her secrets.
00:27:32She is like the Rosetta Stone.
00:27:33Well, she's like hieroglyphics before the Rosetta Stone.
00:27:36I'm like, did this change?
00:27:37You didn't like the other one.
00:27:38Where did it go?
00:27:40There's no answer.
00:27:42Elsewhere.
00:27:44Which indicates to me that if I get too oily, I will go to the back rooms too.
00:27:49So I try not to get too oily.
00:27:51Seems very, very important.
00:27:54So it is amazing.
00:27:57Before I can mention that I'm low on face cream, a new face cream has shimmered and
00:28:02appeared.
00:28:04The amount of, and particularly when you're homeschooling and you've got classes and you've
00:28:08got social life and you've got this, that and the other.
00:28:13It's amazing.
00:28:15It's an amazing feat to keep a household running.
00:28:19And if I try to interfere, I am viewed as a marathon runner about to win a gold medal
00:28:29when I tell him I can help him move his legs by grabbing his ankles and pumping my arms.
00:28:34He will kick me to keep me away from his gold and he would be right to do so.
00:28:40I will not help.
00:28:42It would be like getting in front of Marlon Brando when he's doing that incredible speech
00:28:47to his dead wife in The Last Tango in Paris and getting in front and saying, I can help
00:28:53you with this speech, Marlon.
00:28:58Please shut up, back off and go away.
00:29:00Grabbing the mic from Freddie Mercury at Live Aid saying, well, yes, but I've done some
00:29:04karaoke.
00:29:05I'm sure I can belt it out just fine.
00:29:06I mean, I've heard you have a bit of a sore throat.
00:29:13There are almost no more terrifying words to a wife than let me help.
00:29:18A rational wife, because she's got all the balls in the air.
00:29:21She's juggling things like crazy.
00:29:22She knows the incredible Mississippi tributary flow of everything that needs to be done.
00:29:28And if anyone else tries to help, it's a complete ass fracking catastrophe.
00:29:35All the house of cards come crashing down.
00:29:38It would be like me booting into my daughter's Minecraft server and helping.
00:29:47It's just not wise.
00:29:50It would be like the average person coming in to help me in a philosophy show.
00:29:56It's just not the way that things should go.
00:29:59So the reason why women run the household is that women are infinitely better at running
00:30:05households and men are generally infinitely better at making money.
00:30:12The division of labor means it's one thing if you're just two single people LARPing as
00:30:16a married couple by being roommates with squishy bits banging together and making the beast
00:30:21with two backs from time to time.
00:30:23But it's quite another thing if you actually have a very complicated life involving corporations,
00:30:29taxes, accountants, governments, you have assessments, you have bank statements, visa
00:30:36statements that need to be checked.
00:30:39Do you know?
00:30:40Do you know?
00:30:41Apparently it is theoretically and in fact I know this for a fact practically possible
00:30:45to check your banking and visa statements to make sure all of the purchases are legit.
00:30:54Mind blown.
00:30:59Like a Mia Khalifa hurricane.
00:31:02Mind blown.
00:31:04I just read about her.
00:31:06Shouldn't she retire or something like that?
00:31:07Was she an adult star or something like that?
00:31:10So that's the reality.
00:31:18Someone's got to do it and it's way more efficient.
00:31:21She's great at it.
00:31:22I can't help her.
00:31:23I can't.
00:31:24I cannot help her.
00:31:25Anything I do, that will help.
00:31:26I can't remember the last time I bought something I thought we needed and it turned out that
00:31:27we actually needed it.
00:31:28I mean every now and then I'll try.
00:31:29I'm helping you!

00:35:38I'm helping you!
00:35:39I'm helping you!
00:35:40I'm helping you!
00:35:41I'm not even allowed to talk to her in the grocery store because I'm just going to make
00:35:44suggestions that are wrong.
00:35:47I have, through years of silence, I have achieved the privilege of walking less than 15 feet
00:35:56behind her.
00:35:57We're down to 8 or 9.
00:35:58I hope to get to 6 or 7 within a couple of years.
00:36:01As long as I'm quiet, I push the cart, don't say anything, and stay a respectful distance
00:36:06from the whirlwind of healthy food gathering, I'm good.
00:36:13And it works!
00:36:15Division of labor, baby.
00:36:17Division of labor.
00:36:18That's what's key in a marriage.
00:36:22And for women, if you support your husband, and if you run the household, your husband
00:36:29will be free to do that mysterious voodoo stuff called being successful and making a
00:36:34lot of money.
00:36:37And then, what's kind of cool about that, is you can buy more labor-saving devices and
00:36:42if you hit the pinnacle or the peak, you actually might be able to get some help, some maids.
00:36:51Now, my wife does not do anything like that.
00:36:55She will not even remotely accept anyone like that coming into her house and telling her
00:36:59what to do.
00:37:02For her, and I think she put it to me this way, for her, having a maid would be the equivalent
00:37:05of me sending someone else out to buy electronics.
00:37:09Okay, there's no need to get ugly.
00:37:13Not that she ever could, ever.
00:37:17So I just find it too wild when people say, well I'm going to do my part, but not yours.
00:37:22My god.
00:37:25That's the akin, hey, let's have sex, we'll just watch each other masturbate, because
00:37:28we wouldn't want to overlap now, would we?
00:37:31Crazy.
00:37:32Thank you, I appreciate the tip.
00:37:35Oh my gosh, can it not be just easy and productive and people do what they're better at.
00:37:50Maybe as a husband, you're the great guy at keeping everything organized.
00:37:53Maybe that's the thing.
00:37:54It doesn't have to be gender-specific or sex-specific.
00:37:56Maybe as the husband, you're the guy.
00:37:58Fantastic.
00:37:59Then you do it.
00:38:02Step aside, my friend, I've been doing it for years.
00:38:06Oh my god.
00:38:08That's not evil, Steph, that's righteous anger, coming to defend her territory, that's right.
00:38:15My good chef's knife and cast iron was put into the dishwasher once, my roommate got
00:38:19a spirited lecture that night.
00:38:21Yeah, as I mentioned before, there's a category of people, sorry, there's a category of things
00:38:29that go into the dishwasher, and there's a category of things that don't go into the
00:38:34dishwasher, and it makes zero fucking sense at all.
00:38:38Not even a little bit.
00:38:40Not even a little bit.
00:38:43I remember trying to help at various workplaces as a teen, eventually learned what division
00:38:46of labor was really for.
00:38:48Yeah, that's right.
00:38:49So just do what you're best at and stop complaining.
00:38:52Don't be afraid to have the division of labor.
00:39:00Ah, perfectly described my first time listening to Dark Side of the Moon, incredible, yeah.
00:39:06It's so mellow, man.
00:39:09Ah!
00:39:11I just throw my mail into the mail pile, yeah.
00:39:15Dermatologist appointment caught me by surprise.
00:39:18It's time to get naked.
00:39:23When wife you need to talk more about the value of having a wife.
00:39:28Somebody says, my wife is as useless as an ashtray on a motorcycle.
00:39:33I hesitate to speak ill of her, but I have had it up to my eyeballs with her sloth.
00:39:37The house is an absolute pigsty.
00:39:39She gets angry when I tidy the house.
00:39:41I tidied the guest room after my niece flew home.
00:39:43Two days later, my wife's clothes and magazines were strewn everywhere.
00:39:45I'm embarrassed to have anyone come over.
00:39:47I have even hesitated to get repairmen in to fix things because I'm ashamed of our flat.
00:39:51I just want to understand why.
00:39:54So, it's depression and it often has to do with, sorry, we're going from mild comedy to some dark topics.
00:40:00So, what is it a friend of mine many years ago said, a woman's home is her vagina, a man's job is his penis.
00:40:08A man who's unsuccessful in his career is impotent in the workplace, is impotent in his success, and that's like impotence in the bedroom.
00:40:17And if a woman's home is messy, it's usually because she's depressed.
00:40:23And she grew up in a house.
00:40:25Like, here's the thing.
00:40:27This is something that Kevin Samuels would say from time to time.
00:40:31It took me a little while to get it because, I mean, the man's a stone genius and it just takes a little while to catch up sometimes, or was.
00:40:37So, he would say, were you raised to be a wife?
00:40:43Were you raised to be a wife?
00:40:45So, you talk to your wife and say, what did you learn about how to run a household from your mother?
00:40:50Usually mother, right?
00:40:52And if a woman, oh, my wife was working all the time and I just stayed home alone and never learned anything, never did anything.
00:41:00Then she wasn't raised to be a wife.
00:41:02Doesn't mean she can't be, but it's not going to come naturally.
00:41:06It's not going to come.
00:41:07I mean, I started working with computers when I was 11 years old.
00:41:10I would go in every Saturday and learn how to program and basic and machine language and all kinds of cool stuff.
00:41:16And so, then when it came to be a computer guy in my 20s as a software entrepreneur, I knew it because I had grown up with it.
00:41:25I started doing philosophy when I was 15 years old, right?
00:41:28That's 43, almost 43 years ago.
00:41:34There's really no substitute for experience.
00:41:37So, she doesn't know how to do it and she's radiating depression.
00:41:42I think. I don't know. I can't diagnose anyone.
00:41:44I'm just saying that that's my thought.
00:41:47Anyone else like chewing on the toothbrush from time to time, asking for a friend?
00:41:52Oral fixation for the win.
00:42:01I don't mean to brag, but I'm a guy and I replace my toothbrush by myself every four to five years.
00:42:07Oh, gross! Don't you get them from the dentist? The dentists get them for free.
00:42:12I use an electric toothbrush anyway, but apparently the head needs to be replaced.
00:42:19So, I ask for a little head anyway. You understand the joke.
00:42:22This is a great case for rewarding specialization in the free market.
00:42:25Yeah, the more complex the workflow, the less it can be shared.
00:42:30So, a lot of women are complaining because the man isn't doing much, but there's not that much to do.
00:42:37I mean, the amount of housework that you have when you're just a couple,
00:42:40versus the amount of housework that you have when you have kids.
00:42:43Like a friend of mine's wife said, basically, her kids were like 15.
00:42:46Oldest kid was 15 and she said, yeah, basically the laundry or the dryer have been running solid for 15 years.
00:42:52I'm tired, boss. I'm tired.
00:42:54Like that fan in your room that's been running for 12 years.
00:42:56I'm tired, boss. I'm tired.
00:43:00Oh, just crazy.
00:43:07So, specialization.
00:43:11You cannot efficiently buy groceries for a family if two people are trying to do the job.
00:43:19There's going to be way too much overlap, way too much duplication, way too much lack of knowledge.
00:43:24Thanks, that explains it perfectly.
00:43:29I don't know what the solution is, but it was important for me to understand.
00:43:32Well, ask her what she's sad about.
00:43:34Don't get mad at the symptoms, ask for the cause.
00:43:37Don't get mad at the symptoms, ask for the cause.
00:43:40If your wife is a slob, don't get angry at the symptoms, the slobbiness, ask for the cause.
00:43:45What was it like for you growing up?
00:43:48A woman...
00:43:50Okay, so houses are messy. Why? Why are houses messy?
00:43:53Let's do this one. We can do this one pretty briskly, right?
00:43:56Why are houses messy when you're a kid?
00:44:00Why are houses messy?
00:44:02What are they doing and why?
00:44:06Why are the houses messy when you're a kid?
00:44:13What is occurring and why?
00:44:18No data.
00:44:20Okay, no dad, no dad, messed up head.
00:44:24No, houses are messy so that other kids don't want to come over and play,
00:44:28so other people don't see how dysfunctional the household is.
00:44:33The houses are messy as a kid repellent,
00:44:36so that the parents don't have to fake being nice for too long.
00:44:39It is a way of making sure that other kids don't come over,
00:44:43other kids don't stay, nobody wants to come over.
00:44:46If you've got a beautiful house, people are like,
00:44:48Oh, lovely, let's go to your house. It's a beautiful house.
00:44:51It doesn't have to be physically beautiful, but clean and nice and all of that.
00:44:54But if the house is a pigsty, people don't want to come over,
00:44:57so you don't have to fake being nice if you're down.
00:45:00And if the parents are dysfunctional, they'll keep the house messy,
00:45:03so that their friends' kids don't want to come over,
00:45:05and their kids will go to other kids' houses.
00:45:13So a woman who grows up in a house that is a pigsty
00:45:17is growing up in an environment that is a kid repellent,
00:45:20because the parents are anxious, depressed, abusive, God knows what,
00:45:23and don't want other people around because it's too much.
00:45:25Maybe they're socially anxious. Maybe they themselves are depressed.
00:45:28Maybe they're dysfunctional. Maybe they're moody.
00:45:30Maybe they want to wander around in their underpants,
00:45:32but you just need to make a messy house so that no one comes over.
00:45:37It's a social repellent to have a messy house.
00:45:44And look, come on, we've all had that pigpen friend, haven't we?
00:45:47Even as a teenager. I mean, I was on my own since I was 15 years old.
00:45:51We all had that one friend who's like, want to come to my place?
00:45:54No, thank you. That's fine. I'm okay.
00:45:59I really don't want to end up using a crowbar to pry the toilet seat up
00:46:03because it hasn't been washed in eternity.
00:46:07No, thank you. You ever have that friend's place?
00:46:10You go over there, and you're thirsty, and you're like,
00:46:13oh, I don't know, man, those are kind of oily glasses,
00:46:17and even the ones in the cupboard, they kind of stick.
00:46:23They stick when you pull them up, and they're kind of sticky and oily,
00:46:26and you're like, I think I'll go out
00:46:29and lick the rain off a rosebush instead.
00:46:33That's probably safer. Do you ever have that thing?
00:46:35You go over to the place, the pigsty place,
00:46:38and his slovenly mom is like, you want a snack?
00:46:41Menthol, menthol, you kids want a snack?
00:46:43I'm like, nope, I'm good.
00:46:45I got some hamburger helper from August.
00:46:47No, honestly, appreciate it.
00:46:52You try and open that fridge,
00:46:56like the old fridges with the membranes, you hit them hard.
00:47:00Can't get them open.
00:47:02You open them up, and there's just like
00:47:04rows of semi-antique mystery meat,
00:47:07you know, like the Tupperware containers with no lid,
00:47:10and the food's been in there so long it's shrunk,
00:47:12and there's a big moat of horror around the food.
00:47:18No, I'm good, thanks.
00:47:20No, where's those other places you go?
00:47:23Mom comes in, sailing, floating along like Julie Christie,
00:47:26and she's like, oh, would anybody love a snack?
00:47:28Yeah, man, it's gonna be fantastic, fresh, good, fluffy pastry.
00:47:32Oh, yeah.
00:47:36I think I have something to drink around here somewhere.
00:47:39No, no, honestly, I'm good.
00:47:42I don't want some Ribena from 1962.
00:47:45It does not age well.
00:47:48Yeah, you take a sip of water and it tastes like dish soap.
00:47:50Yeah, because they didn't rinse the dishes.
00:47:55Oh, you got those, a friend of mine's Scottish mom.
00:47:58Would you like something to eat?
00:48:01Good food, good food, yeah.
00:48:06And I'm like, I am kind of hungry.
00:48:11But you are Scottish.
00:48:14Um, okay.
00:48:16And then you get food that comes out,
00:48:19and it's Hamburger Helper, but it looks like a topographic map
00:48:24of the entire Swiss Andes, because there's so much fucking salt on it
00:48:28that you gotta take a jackhammer to get through the surface layer
00:48:31so you can get the soft, undercooked food underneath.
00:48:34Really salty, but when you get through the salt,
00:48:37it's also cold, oily, and clammy.
00:48:41And then you've got the food, this is the problem, right?
00:48:44This is the problem, you've got the food, what do you do with it?
00:48:50What do you do with it?
00:48:52Food tastes like dish soap, salt, smoky menthol fingers, and hell.
00:49:00Whereas, I absolutely completely and totally remember,
00:49:04I remember the name of the family, absolutely beautiful family,
00:49:07you go over there, the house is clean,
00:49:12there's pop in a magic side room in the basement,
00:49:16the basement is finished, everything's tidy and nice and clean,
00:49:20and you just know.
00:49:23They offer you a snack.
00:49:26It's safe.
00:49:28Tasty.
00:49:29Good.
00:49:31You will survive.
00:49:33There will be no afterburn, you won't regret it the next morning
00:49:36when whatever you ate comes at your ass
00:49:39in the exact same state that you put it in.
00:49:41Aren't we supposed to extract some kind of nutrition?
00:49:43No!
00:49:44Scottish food.
00:49:46You get your nutrition from vengeance.
00:49:59No, honestly, or if you, I had a friend of mine,
00:50:02gosh, his name is Surdar, when I was a little kid in England,
00:50:07and he was Turkish.
00:50:09I remember he used to say when he'd want to turn the light off,
00:50:12off the light, off the light!
00:50:14And I remember his family, we got along okay, I guess,
00:50:19and they were like, would you, do you want some snack?
00:50:22I don't know what a Turkish accent is, I can't remember,
00:50:24but Turkish delight was a contradiction in terms,
00:50:27because would you like some snack?
00:50:28And they gave me some hard, brittle,
00:50:33lemba-style sea biscuits that were of the consistency
00:50:39somewhere between chipboard and lunar rocks.
00:50:44And they gave me a glass of milk.
00:50:46Turns out, turns out, in Turkey,
00:50:49they sweeten the shit out of the milk, which makes it horrible.
00:50:54So, I'm chewing on moon rocks and drinking milk so sweet
00:51:00my teeth are dissolving into my throat.
00:51:03And, and, a foot falls off from diabetes that afternoon.
00:51:07It really was quite something.
00:51:08It's actually been sewn back on.
00:51:09It's very interesting.
00:51:11One of the few things the NHS did right.
00:51:20So, yeah, your house is messy,
00:51:23so that people don't want to come over.
00:51:27Do you have the smokers?
00:51:28Do you have the friends whose parents are smokers?
00:51:31My friend with the Scottish mom, she was like,
00:51:33she's a chain smoker.
00:51:35And, you know, you gotta, you open the door
00:51:37and you gotta lean into it.
00:51:39You ever do this thing?
00:51:40You go over to the smoker's house,
00:51:42you open the door and that waft of smoke,
00:51:45like a bunch of wraiths or ghouls leaving the environment,
00:51:51open, smoke comes curling out.
00:51:54Welcome to death flat.
00:51:59And every single surface is covered
00:52:01either in an ashtray or ash.
00:52:05And it's one thing in the summer,
00:52:06but it's quite another thing in winter.
00:52:10Basically, I trained for getting a face full of tear gas
00:52:13at the protests in Hong Kong
00:52:17by going to my Scottish friend's place,
00:52:19which was like a dingy apartment.
00:52:22And, you know, you're playing for a while
00:52:24and then you come out and it's like,
00:52:25man, is it evening?
00:52:27Man, it's dark.
00:52:28No, it's not evening.
00:52:29It's actually about 2 p.m.
00:52:32But there's so much smoke
00:52:36that it feels like about three minutes past sunset.
00:52:39The sun setting being any pink stuff in your lungs still.
00:52:44And with the amount of,
00:52:47I think she lived on sodium
00:52:49and I've been living on coffee and nicotine.
00:52:53She lived on sodium and smoke.
00:52:56Basically, she was a ghoul.
00:52:58And I remember she had the thickest red hair and dyed it.
00:53:02You know, she had those hunched old lady shoulders.
00:53:05You know, I don't know what that comes from,
00:53:06but like the dad would just hump,
00:53:07she'd have this shrunk,
00:53:08and her head kind of came out of her chest.
00:53:12You know, it's like the spine just kind of gave up
00:53:14and went full upside down J.
00:53:18And it's like,
00:53:19shouldn't you be not looking out from your cleavage?
00:53:21No, this is where I look.
00:53:24Sorry, I lost the Scottish thing there,
00:53:26but I'm not an actor.
00:53:29And she moved,
00:53:31and she would like gasp a little going from,
00:53:34like, she'd get up to change the channel,
00:53:37like you could never get the woman a remote control
00:53:39to save her life,
00:53:40because she needed her cardio, right?
00:53:41So she'd get up to change the channel,
00:53:43and she'd get,
00:53:44but she'd literally fall into her chair.
00:53:46And then when she'd fall into her chair,
00:53:48the eddies of smoke,
00:53:49the circular eddies of smoke around her would be there,
00:53:52and the little puffs of all the dust that comes out,
00:53:54and I'm like,
00:53:55hey man, you're a great guy,
00:53:57but I'm afraid I'm going to need to fucking survive
00:53:59into being my 40s,
00:54:00so I really can't be around this asbestos queen
00:54:03who's exhaling enough carcinogens
00:54:05to kill a blue whale and give it blue balls.
00:54:09So yeah, I had to bail on that,
00:54:11and it's like,
00:54:12hey, want to come to my place?
00:54:16Absolutely not.
00:54:18No way, shape, or form.
00:54:19I mean, don't get me wrong,
00:54:20I wouldn't mind coming to your place,
00:54:22but I do have a little thing called mortality,
00:54:25and a minor desire to make it into my 30s or 40s.
00:54:28So, yeah, that's the way.
00:54:31That's the way.
00:54:33I'll take a smoker over a house filled with cats and crazy lady.
00:54:37Ooh, cat dander.
00:54:40There's nothing more fun.
00:54:42You know, when the sun's hitting a certain light,
00:54:44and you go to a messy person's house,
00:54:46you see the little stars,
00:54:49each little star taking another hour off your life.
00:54:53You see, it's nice when you can't see the shit you're breathing, right?
00:54:56It's nice.
00:54:57It's nice.
00:54:58And you go to messy people's houses,
00:55:00people with cats,
00:55:01the smokers,
00:55:02the hoarders,
00:55:03and all of that,
00:55:04and you look into the air,
00:55:07and it's a constellation of shit you don't want to breathe, right?
00:55:12And I would breathe through my nose,
00:55:14because I think,
00:55:15oh, maybe the nose has filter a little bit more,
00:55:17but I would be short of breath in those,
00:55:19because the light's coming in in a certain way,
00:55:21and I'm like,
00:55:22I should not see that light.
00:55:24Light should be invisible.
00:55:26The only reason that this light is visible
00:55:28is the air is going to fucking kill me.
00:55:30The air is like a giant laser that's going to scald my lungs.
00:55:34And I would like,
00:55:35oh, can we crack a window?
00:55:38No, I don't want to crack a window.
00:55:40It's cold out here.
00:55:42Yes, it's also cold in the fucking grave,
00:55:44so crack a window so I can breathe,
00:55:46you Scottish troll.
00:55:53And there was a whole bookshelf of books
00:55:55I really, really wanted to read.
00:55:57I really wanted to read these books.
00:55:58Honestly,
00:55:59there was a whole bookshelf of books I wanted to read,
00:56:01but I was frightened to borrow.
00:56:04I didn't want to touch them,
00:56:07because they were smoky
00:56:09and covered in things
00:56:11and sticky.
00:56:12And it's like,
00:56:13why?
00:56:14Why?
00:56:15Why are things sticky?
00:56:16Why are things sticky?
00:56:18Why, when I walk,
00:56:20I'm like,
00:56:22just a little slow down.
00:56:24Just a little slow down.
00:56:25A little grab and wait and see.
00:56:27Like there were these
00:56:29thorns in Africa when I was there.
00:56:31Still there, of course, right?
00:56:32The horns called, wait a minute.
00:56:33And that's because you'd walk into the thorn bush,
00:56:35you'd be fine,
00:56:36and then suddenly,
00:56:37wait a minute,
00:56:38thorns,
00:56:39because that's what happens.
00:56:40It's like the wait a minute floor.
00:56:41Why?
00:56:42Why does nothing feel clean?
00:56:45Why are the windows
00:56:49cleaner
00:56:51on the outside
00:56:52than they are on the inside?
00:56:54Help me.
00:56:56Make the little sounds.
00:56:57Help me.
00:56:59Keep the lights dim.
00:57:00I don't want to see the little sparkles
00:57:02of mystery air elements
00:57:04that are going to shorten my lifespan.
00:57:05I'm sure it's iodine,
00:57:07cat fur,
00:57:09and smoke.
00:57:12Okay, I'm pretty wired
00:57:13because I've been in Smoker's house for a while
00:57:14and I've got a little nicotine in my ear.
00:57:15Blah, blah, blah.
00:57:18You're triggered?
00:57:19Yeah.
00:57:20Yeah, sorry about that.
00:57:23You're sure your floor should not resemble
00:57:25that of a movie theater?
00:57:26Yeah, why?
00:57:27Why are you buttering your floors?
00:57:29Do you just,
00:57:30instead of spraying Lysol,
00:57:31do you just spray Pam directly
00:57:33on your floor?
00:57:34That happened to my wife once.
00:57:35She was supposed to spray some Lysol in the air
00:57:37and she sprayed Pam
00:57:38and then we spent the rest of the day
00:57:40descartifying the kitchen.
00:57:45Oh, sunlight dust was just horrendous.
00:57:50You enter a cat person's house
00:57:51and it smells of cat pee
00:57:52and you mention it
00:57:53and they're like,
00:57:54hot smell.
00:57:55Yep, yep, yep, yep.
00:57:58Yep.
00:58:00I remember
00:58:02dating a woman who had cats
00:58:04and she made some comment about
00:58:07how I dressed or whatever it is.
00:58:08I'm like,
00:58:10but your house is a cat litter box.
00:58:13Your house is a litter box.
00:58:14I don't know if you're aware of this.
00:58:15Your apartment is a litter box.
00:58:19And you're like,
00:58:20hmm, can you smell that
00:58:24heady bouquet of atomized cat ass?
00:58:29Hmm, smells like infertility.
00:58:34Smells like childlessness.
00:58:38Disintegrated, evaporated,
00:58:40injected into your nose,
00:58:42cat rectum.
00:58:44Hmm, I think I will be not staying the night.
00:58:49I want pussy,
00:58:50but not by breathing it up the nose.
00:58:55I'm going to get,
00:58:56I would be canceled for this show
00:58:57even if it wasn't already canceled.
00:58:58Well, what does it matter now, right?
00:59:00Somebody says,
00:59:01my mother was on the extreme end of the other side.
00:59:02Everything was so clean,
00:59:03you were not allowed to breathe or move
00:59:05until people visited.
00:59:06I basically lived in a shadow home
00:59:07with do not touch signs,
00:59:08a show home with do not touch signs everywhere.
00:59:10Yeah, so those are the women who were like,
00:59:12well, I don't know what's going to happen today,
00:59:14but I'll tell you what could happen.
00:59:15What could happen is,
00:59:16my mother-in-law might have bribed
00:59:18Architectural Digest to come and photograph my house
00:59:21without any warning
00:59:22and it would be published
00:59:23and sent to all of my grade school teachers
00:59:25and all the girls who were mean to me in high school
00:59:27and they will laugh and laugh and laugh.
00:59:29So clean up!
00:59:30Yeah, for sure.
00:59:32Oh man, the sun hitting the dust particles
00:59:34makes your heart stop.
00:59:36Just buy an air filter with HEPA.
00:59:38Yeah, I'm not sure that that's particularly polite
00:59:41and I was raised to be a smidge polite.
00:59:43Love to come over.
00:59:45I need to clean your air with Satan.
00:59:48Now from Satan,
00:59:49I need to bring the holy water of a HEPA filter
00:59:51to the unholy nature
00:59:52of your disintegrated,
00:59:54Scottish,
00:59:56effluent,
00:59:57and detritus air.
01:00:00My parents' house was like that
01:00:01with the sunlight dust here.
01:00:05Whew!
01:00:06Residue can be gross.
01:00:08Smells like toxoplasmosis.
01:00:12Right?
01:00:14Right.
01:00:16Litterbox.
01:00:17The worst name for a vagina I've ever heard.
01:00:22Sorry.
01:00:27Sometimes I amuse myself a little too much.
01:00:30Litterbox.
01:00:32Because in England,
01:00:33box is a slang for vagina.
01:00:34Litterbox.
01:00:39Oh yeah,
01:00:40I went to the DMV today,
01:00:41someone had sat in a chair
01:00:42that smelled extremely bad
01:00:43like a fat person's sweat.
01:00:44Yeah, that smell is rough.
01:00:46Because there's the other thing too.
01:00:47It's not just the decay of the environment
01:00:50and the cat stuff
01:00:51and the smoke
01:00:52and the not-dusting.
01:00:53It's also,
01:00:56I don't like to sit in chairs
01:00:58where people who don't bathe too much have sat.
01:01:01I feel like I'm sinking into the warm, sweaty,
01:01:05high school,
01:01:07gym,
01:01:08wrestling championship embrace
01:01:10of Jabba the Hutt.
01:01:15Come into my sweaty embrace
01:01:17and I will imprint upon you
01:01:19the kind of smell that will repel women
01:01:22for approximately four generations,
01:01:24three generations,
01:01:25two generations,
01:01:26one generation,
01:01:27no generations
01:01:28because you're not going to meet any girls
01:01:29because you're going to smell like this
01:01:30for the next six months.
01:01:34Whenever I sit in a public chair,
01:01:37if I have to sit in a public chair,
01:01:39I just think,
01:01:41how many farts have you swallowed
01:01:43over the years?
01:01:45You know, people talk about
01:01:47ghosts haunting where they were killed
01:01:49until the crime comes to light.
01:01:50It's like,
01:01:51how many farts
01:01:53has your polyester soul been forced to absorb?
01:01:56Lo, these last 20 years,
01:01:58they're in there,
01:01:59each and every one,
01:02:00each little bit of rectal juice
01:02:02from every fat, skinny,
01:02:04intermediate person who sat here
01:02:06and farted their soul.
01:02:07They're all down there
01:02:08like a little city
01:02:10of tiny little shit shapes
01:02:12that will never leave the fabric
01:02:14except to float up
01:02:15and attach themselves to my epidermis.
01:02:20Seeing yellow stains on the walls
01:02:22and drips of yellow smoke sludge
01:02:24is not a good sign.
01:02:25Same with a used car.
01:02:26Well, it depends.
01:02:27If it's leather seats,
01:02:28maybe you're okay.
01:02:29But if it's like,
01:02:31it's a Volkswagen from the late 60s,
01:02:34the amount of anal sex
01:02:36that has been performed in this car
01:02:38would put
01:02:40a gay club to shame.
01:02:45What was it?
01:02:46There was an old movie,
01:02:49well, he wanted to have sex
01:02:50in a really uncomfortable place.
01:02:51What, the back seat of a Volkswagen?
01:02:57We all float down here, Chuckie.
01:03:02Yeah, it's rough, man.
01:03:04It's rough.
01:03:07I had a friend whose father was a smoker.
01:03:09He died quite young.
01:03:11And I was in there cleaning out the house
01:03:15when there were painters.
01:03:17And, you know,
01:03:21there is an infinity,
01:03:23almost a near infinity of houses,
01:03:26and in particular,
01:03:27apartments and rooms in the world
01:03:30with a yellow coat of paint
01:03:34that is a little thin sedimentary layer
01:03:36that says,
01:03:37here died a smoker.
01:03:39Because the place was white
01:03:40when he moved in.
01:03:41Within a couple of years,
01:03:42the place was like
01:03:43homeless guy tooth yellow.
01:03:47And then they paint over it.
01:03:49And if you ever want to know
01:03:50how many smokers died
01:03:51in the room you're in,
01:03:52just take a little cross-section,
01:03:54and every time there's a little yellow strip
01:03:56in that paint,
01:03:57that is an almost two-dimensional grave marker
01:04:02of a guy who coughed up half a lung
01:04:06and bled out on the couch.
01:04:09Layer, layer.
01:04:10Healthy, healthy, healthy.
01:04:11And, of course,
01:04:12the ones that are healthier, longer.
01:04:13And then,
01:04:15this is a yellow line
01:04:17from a guy who died from smoking,
01:04:18and then there's some white and red.
01:04:23You can find that,
01:04:24I think it's as reliable
01:04:25as parish registers,
01:04:27I think.
01:04:34All right.
01:04:37Hey, Seth,
01:04:38what's the title of that call-in show
01:04:39with the guy
01:04:40who'd just been released from jail?
01:04:41I remember you mentioning it
01:04:42a few months ago.
01:04:43I don't know if that ever went down.
01:04:48I had a childhood friend in foster care.
01:04:50The guardians were moribundly obese,
01:04:52and the smell is unforgettable
01:04:53even though the house was relatively tidy.
01:04:55Claustrophobic feeling
01:04:56in more ways than one.
01:04:58Yeah.
01:04:59I mean,
01:05:00in particular with the morbidly obese,
01:05:01older people,
01:05:02it's like,
01:05:03I know there's places
01:05:04you can't wash.
01:05:05I know there's places
01:05:06you can't reach.
01:05:10So much scrubbing and cleaning needed,
01:05:11and then a good primer.
01:05:13Yeah.
01:05:16You killed your lungs
01:05:17and the white.
01:05:21The worst are houses
01:05:22where they were flipped,
01:05:24and they used to be meth houses
01:05:25or more noticeable,
01:05:27moldy water-damaged houses,
01:05:28and you can smell the damp.
01:05:29Yeah.
01:05:31My dad smokes,
01:05:32and I hate it.
01:05:33He also drinks
01:05:34high-sugar sodas all day.
01:05:35He's addicted.
01:05:36Well,
01:05:37not for long,
01:05:38probably,
01:05:39sadly.
01:05:40There's a lot of people
01:05:41out there
01:05:42who don't really want to live.
01:05:43I'm not saying this is true
01:05:44of your dad as a whole,
01:05:45but obese people
01:05:46have special tools
01:05:47for cleaning themselves.
01:05:49Not all of them.
01:05:50And it's true
01:05:51sometimes for guys
01:05:52who work out.
01:05:53Have you ever seen that video
01:05:54of the guys at the gym,
01:05:55and what they do
01:05:56is they put a post-it note
01:05:57on some overly-muscled guys
01:05:58between the shoulder blades,
01:05:59and he can't get there,
01:06:00can't reach him.
01:06:01I think about that stuff, too.
01:06:02How do you clean?
01:06:04How do you clean,
01:06:05and how do you know?
01:06:08A lot of pockets.
01:06:09A lot of pockets
01:06:10for sweat and bacteria
01:06:11to grow, right?
01:06:17I mean,
01:06:18it's probably wrong.
01:06:19Maybe it's wrong.
01:06:20I don't know the science behind it,
01:06:21but I think that's one of the reasons
01:06:22why some people
01:06:23are more cautious around
01:06:25severely obese people
01:06:26is whether they may carry
01:06:28more bacteria
01:06:29because it's harder to clean
01:06:30and easier to sweat,
01:06:31and there's more pockets
01:06:32to collect in.
01:06:34I don't know if it's true or not,
01:06:35but that may explain
01:06:36why some people are
01:06:37more anxious or nervous
01:06:38around that.
01:06:46All right.
01:06:48A very interesting show tonight.
01:06:50Grossest show yet.
01:06:51Well,
01:06:52sometimes you've just got to
01:06:53purge these things
01:06:54from your mind, right?
01:06:56I think.
01:06:57I think I find that
01:06:58going through this kind of process
01:06:59as a whole,
01:07:00for me,
01:07:01generally is like,
01:07:02whew,
01:07:03I feel better afterwards
01:07:04because
01:07:05you kind of confront
01:07:07some of that
01:07:09ick that you might have.
01:07:11I'm one of those,
01:07:12a smoker with a low will to live.
01:07:14Bro,
01:07:15call in.
01:07:16freedomain.com
01:07:18slash call.
01:07:19Seriously.
01:07:20Right?
01:07:21Seriously.
01:07:24Yeah,
01:07:25there's a lot of people
01:07:26half in love with
01:07:27easeful death.
01:07:28There's a lot of people out there
01:07:29that don't really
01:07:30want to live.
01:07:31You know,
01:07:32like all the people
01:07:33who vote to say,
01:07:34let's let all the violent
01:07:35criminals out.
01:07:36It's like,
01:07:37isn't that just kind of
01:07:38a death wish?
01:07:39freedomain.com
01:07:40slash call.
01:07:41Yeah,
01:07:42I mean,
01:07:43I just view,
01:07:44it's like,
01:07:45I don't view everyone
01:07:46as having the same lust
01:07:47for life that I do
01:07:48or the people that I know do.
01:07:49I mean,
01:07:50everybody I know,
01:07:51you know,
01:07:52loves life and
01:07:53grabs it by the
01:07:54neck and
01:07:55swings it around
01:07:56and does the do-si-do
01:07:57and we're enthusiastic
01:07:58and right,
01:07:59but there's a lot of people
01:08:00who are like,
01:08:01I could,
01:08:02you know,
01:08:03I'm 50-50,
01:08:0451-49,
01:08:05I'll get through the day.
01:08:06Yeah,
01:08:07and they won't deal
01:08:08with the undertow
01:08:09that has them
01:08:10dragged down
01:08:11to death
01:08:12and they won't
01:08:13deal with that
01:08:14and they just
01:08:15kind of
01:08:16let the decay
01:08:17happen.
01:08:18This to me
01:08:19was a very
01:08:20sort of
01:08:21important thing
01:08:22to understand
01:08:23when I was younger.
01:08:24That not everybody
01:08:25has the same
01:08:26absolute mad
01:08:27lust
01:08:28for life
01:08:29and joy of existence
01:08:30that I do.
01:08:33There's a weight
01:08:34that they're carrying,
01:08:35there's a heaviness
01:08:36and of course,
01:08:37I've talked to a lot
01:08:38of people
01:08:39over the years
01:08:40in the call-in shows.
01:08:41I generally try to avoid it
01:08:42to be honest with you.
01:08:43Like if somebody says,
01:08:44I'm suicidal,
01:08:45I'm like,
01:08:46hey,
01:08:47you got to call,
01:08:48you got to call
01:08:49a helpline,
01:08:50like I'm a podcaster,
01:08:51I'm not a mental health
01:08:52professional,
01:08:53or anything like that,
01:08:54right?
01:08:55But occasionally,
01:08:56you know,
01:08:57you've heard the calls
01:08:58of somebody,
01:08:59hey,
01:09:00surprise,
01:09:01by the way,
01:09:02by the way,
01:09:03and I don't want to just
01:09:04like go hang up,
01:09:05whatever,
01:09:06right,
01:09:07finish because we're
01:09:08in the middle,
01:09:09right?
01:09:10Yeah,
01:09:11I've got a whole
01:09:12premium podcast
01:09:13on this sort of
01:09:14death wish stuff,
01:09:15right?
01:09:16Like I remember
01:09:17reading this in my teens,
01:09:18it was a story from Jung,
01:09:19where he was talking
01:09:20about a guy he knew
01:09:21who was a mountaineer
01:09:22in the high mountains,
01:09:23an older guy,
01:09:24and he said,
01:09:25I keep dreaming
01:09:26about climbing
01:09:27a mountain
01:09:28until I climb
01:09:29beyond the mountain
01:09:30into the very clouds
01:09:31themselves
01:09:32and leave the world
01:09:33behind.
01:09:34And Jung said
01:09:35to the guy,
01:09:36you've got to
01:09:37stop climbing,
01:09:38you're going to
01:09:39kill yourself.
01:09:40And he's like,
01:09:41ah,
01:09:42it's just a dream,
01:09:43and then,
01:09:44you know,
01:09:45a month or two
01:09:46later,
01:09:47the guy died,
01:09:48mountaineering,
01:09:49right?
01:09:50I mean,
01:09:51here's,
01:09:52I mean,
01:09:53do you want to know
01:09:54the big danger?
01:09:55What is the big danger?
01:09:56What is the big danger
01:09:58of the undertow?
01:10:00What is the undertow?
01:10:01Where does it come from?
01:10:02The undertow,
01:10:03my friends,
01:10:04comes from
01:10:05having parents
01:10:06who wished you dead.
01:10:09Because we sure
01:10:10love to obey our parents,
01:10:11and we have little choice
01:10:12about doing that.
01:10:21And
01:10:27that is a really sad thing
01:10:28as a whole.
01:10:30If you have a parent
01:10:31who's wished you dead,
01:10:35or has hated you,
01:10:38or has been indifferent
01:10:39to your existence,
01:10:40and hasn't enjoyed
01:10:41your company,
01:10:42and hasn't pursued
01:10:43time with you,
01:10:45and all of that,
01:10:48if you've had someone
01:10:51who didn't care
01:10:52whether you lived,
01:10:54or hated you,
01:10:56or wished you dead,
01:10:57particularly if they're a parent,
01:11:00you have,
01:11:01my friend,
01:11:02an undertow,
01:11:04and you need to fight that
01:11:05for your very fucking life.
01:11:10It's evil to do that
01:11:11to your children.
01:11:15It's evil to do that
01:11:16to your children.
01:11:19And you've got to
01:11:20reject that shit.
01:11:21It's like your life
01:11:22depends on it,
01:11:23because it really fucking does.
01:11:25It really does.
01:11:26It really does.
01:11:31Somebody says,
01:11:34yeah, that's heavy, yeah.
01:11:36Heavy, right?
01:11:37Weighs you down,
01:11:38pulls you down.
01:11:42The origins of war
01:11:43and child abuse,
01:11:44yeah, freedomain.com.
01:11:45That's the first book,
01:11:46that's the late
01:11:47Lloyd DeMoss' book.
01:11:48Somebody says,
01:11:49I've felt that undertow
01:11:50a lot over the years,
01:11:51less and less
01:11:52the more time I spend
01:11:53working on myself
01:11:54and going to therapy.
01:12:01Says, I'm trying to
01:12:02better myself,
01:12:03but I've done some
01:12:04reprehensible things
01:12:05that are hard to live with.
01:12:06Might call in one day.
01:12:08I think,
01:12:10I've certainly made mistakes
01:12:11over the course of my life,
01:12:12I have been far from
01:12:13perfectly moral
01:12:14over the course of my life.
01:12:19There's a redemption arc
01:12:21for all souls
01:12:22who embrace morality.
01:12:24There is a redemption arc
01:12:26for all souls
01:12:27who embrace morality.
01:12:32Do it now.
01:12:33freedomain.com slash call.
01:12:35What if you got to lose?
01:12:37You've got a world to win
01:12:38and virtually nothing to lose.
01:12:40freedomain.com slash call.
01:12:42Just fill out the form.
01:12:44We can talk.
01:12:45It's free.
01:12:47It's free.
01:12:48Why not?
01:12:50Why not?
01:12:53Would an undertone also occur
01:12:54if one of the parents
01:12:55threatens abandonment?
01:12:57Yeah, there's no such thing
01:12:58as a threat of abandonment.
01:12:59There's only a death threat.
01:13:01That's all there is.
01:13:02There's only a death threat.
01:13:04Parental threats of abandonment
01:13:06are death threats
01:13:07because children cannot survive
01:13:08on their own.
01:13:09If you lock someone
01:13:10in your basement
01:13:11and then you threaten
01:13:12to not feed them,
01:13:13they're going to die.
01:13:15Right?
01:13:17I don't feed everyone in the world.
01:13:19You don't feed everyone in the world.
01:13:21But if some guy locks
01:13:22a woman in his basement,
01:13:23then if he doesn't feed her,
01:13:24she dies.
01:13:30There is no such thing
01:13:31as a threat of abandonment.
01:13:34There is only a death threat.
01:13:36Children experience
01:13:37abandonment threats
01:13:38as death threats
01:13:39because they are.
01:13:41Because children
01:13:42who are abandoned
01:13:43by their parents
01:13:44die.
01:13:45They are eaten,
01:13:46they starve,
01:13:47they die of exposure,
01:13:48thirst,
01:13:49they're dead.
01:13:50So,
01:13:51there is no such thing
01:13:52as a threat of abandonment.
01:13:54There is only
01:13:55a death threat.
01:13:59So, yeah,
01:14:00the adverb would be
01:14:01a big undertone.
01:14:02As a follow-up
01:14:03to my comments as someone,
01:14:04I do have a rough time
01:14:05feeling a lust for life
01:14:06from time to time.
01:14:07I have no doubt
01:14:08because I live with my parents.
01:14:10All right?
01:14:11And how old are you?
01:14:13And why do you live
01:14:14with your parents?
01:14:15Have you done a call-in?
01:14:17I don't understand
01:14:18why people don't do call-ins.
01:14:20I mean,
01:14:21honestly,
01:14:22I do not understand
01:14:26why people don't do call-ins.
01:14:29I mean,
01:14:30you've heard hundreds
01:14:31or thousands of them
01:14:32if you've been listening
01:14:33for a while.
01:14:34They're always great.
01:14:35They always have
01:14:36productive outcomes.
01:14:37They're free.
01:14:38I know you all have time.
01:14:41I don't understand
01:14:42why people don't do them.
01:14:43I mean,
01:14:44it can take a while
01:14:45to schedule them.
01:14:46I get that,
01:14:47but I fundamentally
01:14:48don't understand.
01:14:50I mean,
01:14:51do you listen to the show?
01:14:52I assume that you think
01:14:53I have something of value
01:14:54to offer.
01:14:55Can you imagine
01:14:56if in the height
01:14:57of my objectivism,
01:14:58Ayn Rand said,
01:14:59you can chat with me
01:15:00for two hours for free?
01:15:01I'd be like,
01:15:02oh!
01:15:03I don't understand
01:15:04why people reject mentoring.
01:15:06I don't understand
01:15:07why people reject help
01:15:08when it's free.
01:15:09I mean,
01:15:10you can literally sit
01:15:11in a bath for all I care.
01:15:12Well,
01:15:13maybe not a Roman bath,
01:15:14but
01:15:15I don't understand
01:15:16why people
01:15:17don't
01:15:18avail themselves
01:15:19of call-in shows.
01:15:23Or,
01:15:24why they only do it
01:15:25when disaster has struck,
01:15:26right?
01:15:32It's very sad.
01:15:34I mean,
01:15:35I did my first call-in show
01:15:36recently
01:15:37with an autistic fellow.
01:15:39That was interesting,
01:15:41because suffering
01:15:42feels safe and comfortable.
01:15:44No,
01:15:45it's suffering.
01:15:57I'm terrified
01:15:58of being completely broken
01:15:59and relying on myself
01:16:00for now.
01:16:01I've had a call-in
01:16:02and two brief chats
01:16:03on Telegram.
01:16:05So,
01:16:06it's the theory
01:16:07that there is a life
01:16:09without suffering.
01:16:12Well,
01:16:13I'm living at home
01:16:14and that's kind of comfortable
01:16:15and I'm terrified
01:16:16of going out on my own.
01:16:17There is no
01:16:18no suffering.
01:16:21All you can do in life
01:16:22is choose your suffering.
01:16:25There is no choice called
01:16:28not suffering.
01:16:31That's not an option.
01:16:33Life
01:16:35has,
01:16:36as a constant factor,
01:16:37suffering.
01:16:40So, today,
01:16:41I did not want to work out.
01:16:45Doesn't really matter why.
01:16:46It doesn't really feel like it.
01:16:49So, I did
01:16:5040 minutes of weights.
01:16:51Not huge,
01:16:52not major.
01:16:54It was fine.
01:16:56It was fine.
01:16:57It was fine.
01:17:01So,
01:17:02I suffered a little bit
01:17:03to do the weights.
01:17:04I didn't really want to.
01:17:09So, what's the option?
01:17:10I don't do weights,
01:17:11I just suffer differently.
01:17:12I get overweight,
01:17:13I...
01:17:15bones get soft
01:17:16and, you know,
01:17:17post-50,
01:17:18it's really tough
01:17:19to regrow your muscles
01:17:20and strengthen your bones, right?
01:17:24So, there is
01:17:25no such thing
01:17:26as no suffering.
01:17:27There's only the choice
01:17:31of which suffering you choose.
01:17:32Do you choose
01:17:33a little suffering now
01:17:35or a lot of suffering later?
01:17:36Sorry to be annoying.
01:17:38But, do you choose
01:17:39a little suffering now
01:17:40or a lot of suffering later?
01:17:44It's tough
01:17:45to deny yourself
01:17:46food that you really like.
01:17:47I really missed sugar
01:17:48for months.
01:17:49It's tough
01:17:50to deny yourself
01:17:51food that you really like.
01:17:53And now she's...
01:17:54Oh, my daughter's
01:17:55working in an ice cream store.
01:17:59It's tough
01:18:00to deny yourself
01:18:01food that you really like.
01:18:04The alternative being what?
01:18:07You know,
01:18:08if I can rid myself
01:18:09of the vestiges
01:18:10of my abdominal fat,
01:18:11I could live
01:18:12for another year.
01:18:13Right?
01:18:14Another year
01:18:15is another couple
01:18:16of hundred shows,
01:18:17right at the peak
01:18:18of life
01:18:19and wisdom.
01:18:21Right?
01:18:22So, I deny myself sugar,
01:18:23I'm dropping some weight
01:18:24a little bit here and there
01:18:25if I can get
01:18:26my last 10 pounds
01:18:27of abdominal fat
01:18:29removed.
01:18:30Great!
01:18:34So,
01:18:36we make bad decisions
01:18:37in our life
01:18:38when we think
01:18:39there's a non-painful option.
01:18:42So, you say,
01:18:43well, I'm terrified
01:18:44to be self-supporting.
01:18:45Okay.
01:18:51First of all,
01:18:52necessity
01:18:53is the mother
01:18:54of invention.
01:18:55And something
01:18:56that happens
01:18:57when you're subsidized,
01:18:58when you're subsidized,
01:18:59right, your parents
01:19:00are paying for your bills,
01:19:01right?
01:19:02So, you don't end up
01:19:03at the kind of extremity
01:19:04that generates
01:19:05real creativity
01:19:06and real focus
01:19:07and real purpose,
01:19:08right?
01:19:09I said this before,
01:19:10like,
01:19:11my first professional
01:19:12programming job I got
01:19:13because I completely
01:19:14ran out of money.
01:19:15Like, normally,
01:19:16you can just,
01:19:17oh, money's coming in
01:19:18and I can borrow
01:19:19a little bit and pay,
01:19:20oh, there's some checks
01:19:21coming or whatever,
01:19:22holy shit,
01:19:23I made phone calls
01:19:24and I've got to,
01:19:25right, so that's how
01:19:26I got started
01:19:27in the computer field.
01:19:29Necessity
01:19:30is the mother
01:19:31of
01:19:32invention.
01:19:35If you're subsidized,
01:19:36you don't know
01:19:37what you're capable of.
01:19:38If other people
01:19:39are paying your bills,
01:19:40you just don't know
01:19:41what you're capable of.
01:19:42You'd be amazed.
01:19:43I remember seeing
01:19:44a business meeting once,
01:19:45it was a cartoon
01:19:46about a business meeting
01:19:47and somebody said,
01:19:48well, Hannibal got
01:19:49the elephants over the Alps.
01:19:50With that in mind,
01:19:51you can do
01:19:52amazing things.
01:19:57All right,
01:19:58freedomain.com
01:19:59slash donate
01:20:00to help out
01:20:01the show.
01:20:09I mean,
01:20:10that's a thing
01:20:11that I think of
01:20:12occasionally
01:20:13when I see
01:20:14someone
01:20:15who's living
01:20:16on the streets
01:20:17and we all see them,
01:20:18right, from time to time.
01:20:19We see the person
01:20:20and it may be
01:20:21entirely unfair
01:20:22and unjust
01:20:23and wrong and bad.
01:20:24I'm going to take
01:20:25all of that,
01:20:26but I'll just tell you
01:20:27my honest thoughts,
01:20:28right or wrong.
01:20:29What I think of
01:20:30is how many layers
01:20:31did you have to
01:20:32fall through
01:20:33to end up
01:20:34living on the street,
01:20:35right?
01:20:36I mean,
01:20:37I'm talking about
01:20:38adults,
01:20:39not the poor
01:20:40runaway kids.
01:20:41My heart breaks
01:20:42for that kind of stuff.
01:20:43I'm talking about
01:20:44adults, right?
01:20:45So,
01:20:46you have to have
01:20:47no family,
01:20:48you have to have
01:20:49nothing,
01:20:50right?
01:20:51So,
01:20:52if your friend,
01:20:53you know,
01:20:54let's say he's got
01:20:55a small place
01:20:56or whatever,
01:20:57right,
01:20:58and you need a place
01:20:59to crash for a month
01:21:00or two until you get
01:21:01on your feet
01:21:02or whatever it is,
01:21:03right?
01:21:04So,
01:21:05you go to your friend
01:21:06and you say,
01:21:07man,
01:21:08I got a crash
01:21:09on your couch,
01:21:10please,
01:21:11please,
01:21:12please.
01:21:13And he's like,
01:21:14eh,
01:21:15I don't know,
01:21:16and you're like,
01:21:17hey man,
01:21:18I'm going to call
01:21:19your sister's kids
01:21:20if she needs to go.
01:21:21Like,
01:21:22I'll do anything.
01:21:23I'll work hours and hours a day
01:21:24to make you,
01:21:25I'll do your mail,
01:21:26I'll do anything
01:21:27that you need me to do.
01:21:28You need your oil changed
01:21:29on your gas,
01:21:30I'll do that for you,
01:21:31I'll make sure
01:21:32that your car goes in
01:21:33for its servicing,
01:21:34like,
01:21:35I will just do
01:21:36whatever you need.
01:21:37I'll be your personal
01:21:38assistant,
01:21:39your cleaner,
01:21:40I'll cook for you,
01:21:41I'll,
01:21:42right?
01:21:43Who's going to say
01:21:44no to that?
01:21:45Just to,
01:21:46you know?
01:21:47To end up
01:21:48there.
01:22:00That's tough, man.
01:22:05It's tough.
01:22:06I had someone,
01:22:08I don't want to get
01:22:09into much detail here,
01:22:10it's actually,
01:22:11it just happened today.
01:22:12Someone asked me
01:22:13for financial help.
01:22:18And it happens.
01:22:19I mean, I do,
01:22:20as you know,
01:22:21I've paid for a bunch
01:22:22of listeners
01:22:23to go to therapy
01:22:24and all that kind of stuff.
01:22:25Well, as donors,
01:22:26in a sense,
01:22:27you have,
01:22:28but I hope that you think
01:22:29that I've managed
01:22:30the money wisely.
01:22:31But,
01:22:32this is somebody
01:22:33who asked for
01:22:34my financial help.
01:22:35And,
01:22:36it's a guy,
01:22:38he's in,
01:22:39roughly in this space,
01:22:40right?
01:22:42And he asked me for help.
01:22:45And I said,
01:22:46yeah, I'm happy to help,
01:22:47can you just,
01:22:48just out of curiosity,
01:22:49can you point me to anywhere
01:22:50where you wrote about
01:22:51my de-platforming?
01:22:52Like,
01:22:53did you write about,
01:22:54like,
01:22:55did you say that it was unjust
01:22:56or wrong or anything like that?
01:22:57Right?
01:22:58And that's important for me
01:22:59because I'm into reciprocity.
01:23:00Now,
01:23:01the guy doesn't have to
01:23:02have
01:23:03gone to the wall for me,
01:23:04but did he ever
01:23:05write on a blog
01:23:06or anywhere?
01:23:07Could it have just been
01:23:08a tweet or anything?
01:23:09Eh, you know.
01:23:12This was bad, right?
01:23:13And that's fine, right?
01:23:14And it wasn't,
01:23:15my help wasn't conditional,
01:23:16I was just kind of curious.
01:23:18Because it's easy for people
01:23:19to ask for help
01:23:20when they're in need,
01:23:22but it's harder for some people
01:23:23to recognize how to help others
01:23:24when they're in need.
01:23:25And, you know,
01:23:26if I,
01:23:27when I was de-platformed,
01:23:28if a bunch of people
01:23:29had gotten together and said,
01:23:30well, absolutely,
01:23:31we're going to bring you on the show,
01:23:32this is horribly unjust,
01:23:33this is wrong,
01:23:34you've got to explain your side,
01:23:35you've got to explain your case
01:23:36and so on.
01:23:37But no,
01:23:38everyone just scattered, right?
01:23:39Nah.
01:23:40And this guy
01:23:41just wrote back
01:23:42these sort of really negative
01:23:43and pretty hostile messages
01:23:44and I'm like,
01:23:45oh, that's a shame, right?
01:23:46He could have said,
01:23:47you know,
01:23:48I really should have,
01:23:49but I didn't
01:23:50and I feel bad about it.
01:23:51That's fine, you know,
01:23:52whatever, right?
01:23:53I'm just curious.
01:23:54I'm curious.
01:23:55I don't do one-sided things.
01:23:56I don't do one-sided things.
01:23:58If people haven't helped me
01:24:00in the past
01:24:01or come to my defense,
01:24:05then why would I go out
01:24:07on a significant limb
01:24:08to help others?
01:24:10To help them,
01:24:11in particular, right?
01:24:15So it's a funny thing to see.
01:24:21Somebody says,
01:24:22never understood the
01:24:23children act out for attention thing
01:24:24until I linked
01:24:25abandonment with death.
01:24:26Yeah,
01:24:27children absolutely
01:24:28want to get their parents' attention
01:24:29because indifference is death,
01:24:31which is why children
01:24:32would rather behave badly
01:24:33and get hit
01:24:34than their parents be indifferent.
01:24:37What is a simple guy
01:24:38or an influencer
01:24:39who asks for help?
01:24:40As I said,
01:24:41he's in the space.
01:24:42I don't want to get
01:24:43into this space roughly,
01:24:44but I don't know him,
01:24:45although he says he knows me.
01:24:54Well,
01:24:55any other last tips?
01:24:56I think we've had
01:24:57an interesting show tonight.
01:24:58It's been a very
01:24:59wide array of topics,
01:25:02and I hope that it helps
01:25:03you understand
01:25:04how to divvy up labor
01:25:05in a marriage
01:25:06so that things are inefficient
01:25:07and people don't waste time
01:25:08and get frustrated.
01:25:09So,
01:25:10freedomain.com
01:25:11slash donate
01:25:12You can, of course,
01:25:13tip right here in the app.
01:25:14You can
01:25:16tip
01:25:17on the Locals app,
01:25:18you can tip on the
01:25:19Rumble app,
01:25:20and you can, of course,
01:25:21everyone who donates
01:25:22through the end of the month.
01:25:23And I think
01:25:24I think I'm going to have to
01:25:25up the
01:25:26I'm going to have to up
01:25:27the monthlies a bit.
01:25:28I'm sorry,
01:25:29it's just like 20%
01:25:30of the currency value
01:25:31has been lost
01:25:32over the last couple of years.
01:25:33Sorry.
01:25:34You know,
01:25:35got to raise prices
01:25:36a little bit
01:25:37to cover some costs.
01:25:38So,
01:25:39that's fine.
01:25:40I'm giving you some warning now
01:25:41if you want to
01:25:42it's the 23rd of August
01:25:43if you want to get in
01:25:44before the end of the month
01:25:45and get yourself
01:25:46a subscription
01:25:47you can get it in
01:25:48at the current price
01:25:49otherwise the price
01:25:50is going to
01:25:51going to go up.
01:25:52Much though I dislike doing it
01:25:53I do have to be responsible
01:25:54for
01:25:55the
01:25:56entity
01:25:57as a whole
01:25:58and the employees
01:25:59and all the stuff
01:26:00that's needed.
01:26:01So,
01:26:02all right.
01:26:03I think we may be done
01:26:04for the night.
01:26:05I really do appreciate

01:26:21I appreciate that.
01:26:22How much money
01:26:23did he ask for?
01:26:26Well,
01:26:27he didn't name a sum
01:26:28but he needed quite a bit.

01:26:50for me so far.
