00:00Welcome back everyone.
00:05It is Amelia.
00:06I hope you are fine.
00:07Wesley Snipes shades Mahershala Ali's Blade reboot as the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues
00:13to develop the feature film.
00:15In July 2019, Marvel Studios and Ali announced at San Diego Comic-Con that he would be taking
00:21on the role of Blade with the MCU set to reboot the character that was previously played by
00:26Snipes.
00:27However, the MCU audience was not prepared for the many creative issues that would follow
00:32the Blade movie over the next five years.
00:35It was recently revealed that the MCU's Blade movie has lost its second director, with Yann
00:40DiMenge exiting the project.
00:42Three days later, Snipes, who starred as Blade in his own trilogy, took to X, formerly known
00:47as Twitter, to seemingly poke fun at the MCU's complicated situation with the Blade reboot.
00:53Up to this point, following the 2019 announcement, Ali has only appeared in the MCU as Blade
01:00through a voice cameo when he appeared off-screen during 2021's Eternals.
01:05However, as it has almost been three years since Eternals came out, the MCU has not utilized
01:11Blade anywhere else.
01:12The further they get away from that movie, the less impact Ali's cameo with Kit Harington's
01:17Dane Whitman has.
01:19Many believed Dane would then show up in the Blade film, but his official return has not
01:24yet been announced.
01:25Even though it makes sense that Marvel Studios wants to get Blade right, it also begs the
01:29question of how it could be this complicated for them to find a proper story for him.
01:34If a creative team were able to tell a whole Blade trilogy from 1998 to 2004, it truly
01:40shouldn't be this complex for the MCU to land on a modern adaptation of the iconic Marvel
01:46hero for the big screen.
01:48Since the MCU has tackled darker stories and characters in recent years, it doesn't justify
01:53a lot of the creative problems they are having with Ali's reboot.
01:57It wouldn't be shocking if they end up pushing Blade until after the Multiverse saga, especially
02:02as it is unlikely the creative team will meet their November 2025 release date.
02:07In the meantime, it would be far more interesting to see Ali appear as Blade in other MCU projects
02:13before taking center stage in his solo film.
02:16For now, time will tell if Marvel Studios will actually land on a direction for Blade,
02:20especially if they still hope to start shooting it later this year.
