00:00Who would have thought that the interest in breakdancing and stunts would lead to a tumble to double gold in the Olympics?
00:10That's just a side note to the stories of Carlos Yulo,
00:13who plans to jump so that the children who are also fond of sports can pass.
00:19The second part of his story in the GMA Integrated News Interviews is about Pia Arcangel.
00:25At the age of 24, Carlos Yulo experienced the sweetness of success that he dreamed of and worked hard for almost his entire life.
00:35According to Carlos, he was only 7 years old when he first became interested in gymnastics.
00:41Breakdancing was popular before.
00:44We used to try it in the playground in front of Manila Zoo.
00:59My grandfather would always bring us there.
01:02We would try it there until we learned the basics.
01:10Wait, did you join breakdancing?
01:13No, I just wanted to learn stunts.
01:19Even if he didn't join breakdancing, the young Carlos was inspired to watch professional gymnastics.
01:25It was 2012 when I watched the Olympics for the first time.
01:30That's when I decided that I wanted to be like them.
01:35I wanted to compete at this level and win a gold medal.
01:41That's when my dream really started.
01:44Carlos joined a local gym and met the President of the Philippines Gymnastics Association, Cynthia Carrion.
01:51When I met him, of course he just wanted to learn how to tumble.
01:55But when I saw him, I could see the passion in his eyes.
01:59He didn't even have a coach.
02:03So I asked him to join the Batang Pinoy that is 12 years and under.
02:11He has no coach and he won medals.
02:13Because Carlos was talented, Carrion gave him a coach so that he could improve his techniques.
02:20We had a foreign coach, a Japanese.
02:22And then his coach wanted to go back to Tokyo because he wanted to learn how to coach better.
02:28He wanted to go to school.
02:29I said, you cannot leave Carlos.
02:31I said, but I have to go back to Tokyo.
02:34I said, is it okay if I send Carlos with you?
02:38He said, of course.
02:40In 2016, Carlos went to Japan for training.
02:44I practiced two times a day.
02:47But when I was in high school, I also had school.
02:51So I went to school and practiced.
02:53And I practiced again and again.
02:56And when I was in college, it was a bit more relaxed.
03:00So I practiced morning and afternoon.
03:03How many hours did you practice after school?
03:06That time, four to five hours.
03:11And then after school, six hours.
03:15I had to write a letter and ask the president of the school if he could use the hyperbaric chamber, the fitness gym.
03:21The coach said, please try to talk to the president so that Carlos can use it.
03:27So we did.
03:28And he said, yes, he approved it.
03:30Carlos plans to return to his former school in Tokyo before the end of the year
03:35so that he can personally thank the people who helped him.
03:38And as a thank you, Carlos was able to pave the way for children like him
03:43who are fond of sports through the construction of gymnastics clinics.
03:48I also want to share the knowledge that I learned in my journey.
03:54And of course, to have fun with the kids.
03:58And I myself, I will enjoy sharing my journey.
04:05For Carlos, it is also important to pay attention to the mental health and well-being of the athletes
04:10based on his personal experience.
04:13It's not just about skills.
04:16It's not always physical.
04:18It's mental.
04:19I make sure that you don't ask yourself if you're okay.
04:26And above all, his faith led Carlos to the path of success.
04:33Everything I did in the Olympics, in my career,
04:38it's all because of the Lord.
04:40I learned to be thankful and appreciate everything that I have now.
04:46For Carlos, the importance of his two Olympic gold medals
04:50is not just for himself, but for the whole country, especially for the Filipino youth.
04:55We are so excited and grateful
04:58that we are the athletes who have an impact on the youth.
05:04We are so grateful that we were given this opportunity.
05:07For GMA Integrated News, Pia Arcangel is the winner.
05:1124 hours.
05:12Meanwhile, the Komelek that Miros Systems will use in the 2025 midterm elections.
05:19Despite the complaints from the ombudsman,
05:21the chairman of the commission said that there is a chance here.
05:24Maki Pulido is the winner.
05:29Miros Systems will still be used in the 2025 elections, according to Komelek.
05:34Despite the complaints against the chairman and seven other officials of the commission,
05:38they awarded an P18 billion contract to Miros Systems
05:42through the approval of the bidding.
05:45The complaint was filed to the ombudsman yesterday.
05:47The important thing is that it should be brought to the proper forum.
05:52Social media, television, radio, diario are not always used.
05:57It's always like a court of public opinion.
06:00The complainant first asked the Supreme Court for a temporary restraining order
06:04to stop the contract, but it was not given according to Komelek.
06:08That's why we are continuing with our timeline.
06:14Next week, Komelek will release the guidelines
06:17on obtaining the Certificate of Candidacy of the candidates.
06:21Komelek plans to post on their website
06:23the name and position of all the candidates across the country.
06:29For GMA Integrated News, Maki Pulido, 24 Hours.
06:37From transportation, manpower, and especially security,
06:42the Armed Forces of the Philippines is always there
06:45to assist in serving the GMA Kapusu Foundation.
06:50Because the AFP and Kapusu Foundation have been working together for a long time,
06:54they entrusted us with a large amount of donations
06:58to help our fellow countrymen.
07:06When the Kareena and Habagat typhoons hit last month,
07:10they were one of our bodyguards in helping our fellow countrymen,
07:16the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
07:19But their help did not end here,
07:23because they donated P4 million to the GMA Kapusu Foundation
07:29as assistance to the Kareena and Habagat typhoons.
07:34The donation came from the subsistence allowance of our fellow soldiers.
07:40From a 150-mil allowance per day,
07:45they voluntarily distributed P50.
07:52Half of the proceeds will go directly to the families of soldiers
07:57who were affected by the typhoons and Habagat.
07:59And half of the P4 million will go to the Kapusu Foundation.
08:05The GMA Kapusu Foundation and the Armed Forces are always partners.
08:09Not only in distributing relief goods or rescuing the victims of these calamities,
08:17but we are also donating money from the hearts of our soldiers.
08:24The donation was turned over by AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S. Browner
08:29and received by GMA Kapusu Foundation EVPN COO Ricky Escudero-Catibo.
08:36You can expect to receive the aid you gave via developmental infrastructure projects.
08:47In the affected areas, which is in NCR,
08:50we will look for a place that is not too high.
09:01We will build a school there.
09:07A new draft complaint was filed by the Ombudsman
09:11against Pasig City Mayor Vico Soto and three other officials of the local government.
09:16According to the mayor, this is not the first time this has happened.
09:20And it's like timing when the political activities of some groups will start.
09:26Maris Umali was able to find out.
09:31Former employee of Pasig City Hall named Michelle Prodensio
09:36filed the second draft complaint against Pasig City Mayor Vico Soto
09:41to the Office of the Ombudsman,
09:43along with the three other officials of Pasig City.
09:46Soto's allegation is that he did not share the one-time cash allowance of P1,500
09:53to the employees of Pasig City Hall for the celebration of their anniversary last month.
09:58Instead, he only shared T-shirts
10:01but signed acknowledgement receipts stating that they received the money.
10:06Soto said that he did not receive the copy of the complaint so he could not comment on it.
10:11But Ania, this is not the first time this has happened.
10:15It's like timing when the political activities of some groups will start.
10:24Last week, a draft complaint was filed against Soto and two other officials of Pasig City.
10:31The complaint was filed by a resident of Pasig, Ethel Mart Cruz.
10:37This is related to the 100% tax discount given to the telecommunication provider, Converge, in 2022.
10:45Converge said that they did not receive any tax discounts from Pasig City.
10:51Soto said that this is part of Ania's dirty tactics against politics.
10:56There were also people who rallied against the construction of the new Pasig City Hall complex.
11:01But when Soto confronted them to answer their questions,
11:05they discovered that they are not from Pasig but from Quezon City.
11:18Not many people know why they were brought to Pasig.
11:21The incident was called Soto's dirty tactics.
11:24According to Mayor Soto, he will wait for the draft complaint filed against them to be answered in the right forum.
11:31In the middle of this, the mayor said that they will continue with their work.
11:35For Jimmy Integrated News, Maris Umali, Naktutok, 24 Hours.
11:41The security advisors of the Philippines and America talked on the phone.
11:46National Security Advisor Eduardo Año said that his counterpart in America, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan,
11:53talked to him yesterday.
11:56What they talked about is that Año is not from Pasig City,
12:00but from Quezon City.
12:02He said that he is not from Pasig City, but from Quezon City.
12:06He said that he is not from Pasig City, but from Quezon City.
12:10National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.
12:12What they talked about is that Año is an illegal, aggressive, and dangerous movement of the Air Force of China
12:20against our Air Force in Bajo de Macinloc.
12:23The same actions were taken against us by the Chinese Coast Guard in Patag and Lawak Island,
12:29all in our West Philippine Sea.
12:31In the same phone call, America gave us their ironclad commitment.
12:38Yesterday, the Chinese Embassy and the Chinese Foreign Ministry
12:42announced that America is aware of the issue.
12:45It was immediately judged by China
12:47in the shipwreck on Monday by the Philippine Coast Guard and China.
12:52According to the version of the Chinese Foreign Ministry,
12:55the Philippines is to blame
12:57because it entered their territory in Xian Binjiao without permission.
13:02China denied that America and others have no right to know about the South China Sea and the West Philippine Sea.
13:11In a forum in Pasay earlier,
13:13the relationship between the Filipino-Chinese businessmen and the Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines, Huang Zilian, was calm.
13:22What they are talking about is a partnership in business
13:25in the so-called Greater Bay Area of China in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau.
13:31Trade between the Greater Bay Area and ASEAN countries reached $1.4 trillion,
13:42accounting for 22.6% of the total foreign trade of the Greater Bay Area.
13:51This Bay Area will become, it is, and will become the major engine of regional and world economic growth.
14:03And there is a great potential.
14:05So we hope that we will work together to benefit from the development of this Greater Bay Area.
14:14The West Philippine Sea was not discussed, even when the media tried to question Ambassador Zilian.
14:21Even though the Filipino-Chinese businessmen say that the conflict in the West Philippine Sea is counterproductive
14:28and that other countries are aware of the issue.
14:31I hope that we will put aside the misunderstandings
14:34so we can move forward towards investment, towards peace and security, and towards stability.
14:42And if we negotiate with China, it will not help if we look at them as an enemy.
14:49They call it in such a way as if China is Dracula.
14:54It's not true. China is the most peace-loving country in the whole world.
15:00They don't want to be disturbed, they don't want to fight.
15:03If you force them, they will be forced. But they will never be the first ones to strike.
15:08For GMA Integrated News, Mark Salazar, 24 Hours.
15:19Along with the rise of Pulang Araw is the arrival of the most prominent contributor to the Family Drama Series,
15:25played by Dennis Trillo.
15:28It has been a long time since the dream of the drama king was to play this role.
15:31Let's talk to Aubrey Carampel.
15:39In his more than 20 years in the industry,
15:42Dennis Trillo has already proven his calibre and talent in playing different characters on television.
15:49How many chances did Eric, a gay man in a complicated relationship, have with his husband's lover?
15:55Please.
15:56That's why, me and your gayness is the reason why your husband died.
16:02In Legal Wives, a well-known Muslim named Ismael Makadato,
16:06in Apolegamos Marriage, he played his wife.
16:10I can't separate her for no legitimate reason.
16:14We are both religious Muslims.
16:18That's a major sin that you want us to commit, Dayan.
16:21I am a gay.
16:23And Dennis also gave life to the iconic character of Crisostomo Ibarra in Maria Clara at Ibarra.
16:30We are not gay!
16:32We are not gay!
16:37In the highly anticipated comeback of Kapuso Drama King in GMA Prime,
16:43he will play Colonel Yuta Saito, a Japanese military official during World War II.
16:50Hello!
16:53Long live!
16:54Long live!
16:57He is considered to be the most outstanding character in Kapuso's biggest family drama, Pulang Araw.
17:04This is a serious villain and a bad villain that you will hate.
17:11I've been wanting to do this kind of role for a long time.
17:14Thank you very much for giving me this role.
17:18This is a dream role for me.
17:24Because the role is just a soap opera,
17:26his birth should be convincing from his speech and movements.
17:32In the rope of time,
17:34and even in the air,
17:36there will come a time of peace.
17:39I need to put in extra effort
17:41to make them believe that this is a Japanese character.
17:45I don't want to see any flaws in the characters that I made.
17:50As much as possible,
17:51when my character is speaking Tagalog here,
17:53I make a joke about how a Japanese person speaks Tagalog
17:56and not like Christopher Ibarra
17:58who is smooth and fluent in old words.
18:11Because the setting of the story is a Japanese occupation era
18:14where the Japanese soldiers are being threatened,
18:18Dennis was challenged to show that his character is really evil.
18:24Now, I'm ready to fight.
18:27More than the beauty of their show visually,
18:30their message to the audience is more important.
18:35In this show,
18:36we just told the characters of other people
18:38about what really happened at that time,
18:40what the Filipinos went through,
18:43and who are the heroes that we should know at that time.
18:49What did you personally learn as an actor
18:52or maybe as a person?
18:54I learned to be more proud of our country,
18:58knowing what they went through,
19:01their hardships and sacrifices.
19:06When you watch this,
19:09you'll be proud of what the Filipinos did
19:11and you'll be proud that you're a Filipino.
19:13Aubrey Carampel, updated to showbiz happenings.
19:18And that's my chika this Wednesday night.
19:20Ako po si Ia Adaliano, Ms. Mel, Ms. Vicky, Emil.
