After three years of closure, Malaysia’s oldest zoo, the Johor Zoo will be officially open to the public on Aug 31 which falls on Hari Merdeka, says Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

00:00We expect it to be officially opened to the public on 31 August this year.
00:19So I am confident and believe that the Zoo Johor is something to be anticipated,
00:28not only by the people of Johor, but by the Malaysians as a whole.
00:33I would also like to take this opportunity to pay my deepest condolences to the founder of the Johor Sultanate,
00:39His Excellency Tengku Mahkota Ismail,
00:42on the occasion of the official opening of the Zoo, God willing, on 28 August.
00:50I was told that the area of the land is 11.7 acres,
00:59and involves more than 275 animals.
01:06Among them, we have tigers, eagles, elephants,
01:10seals, birds, crocodiles, and many more.
01:17So I am very satisfied with what has been done by my colleagues today,
01:24who have managed to make an effort to promote the Zoo Johor well.
01:29I would also like to announce that in the first month we open this Zoo on 31 August,
01:40a 50% discount will be given to adults and children for free.
01:51The price has been approved by the government.
01:56For adults, it is RM10, and for children, RM5.
02:03That is for the locals.
02:06And for foreigners, the charge rate is RM30.
