00:00About 12 o'clock midday today, police have engaged with a white Falcon Ute that was driving
00:09dangerously down in Gordon.
00:12Police have tried to stop stick that vehicle a number of times and been successful.
00:16That vehicle's continued up into Waniyassa where it has crashed against a tree.
00:22One miles got out of that vehicle and ran from police.
00:25A short time later, due to the assistance from the community, police have located that
00:29male and arrested him just behind me here.
00:33Additionally, in proximity to that vehicle, we've found a backpack that is suspected to
00:39belong to that person of interest.
00:40And that person of interest, the bag contains two firearms.
00:47It's suspected that the car was containing some drugs and other paraphernalia and had
00:50a strong odour of drugs.
00:53They will be yet to be analysed, so we can't comment on the nature of those drugs.
00:57The vehicle was moving in and out of traffic and causing a danger to the public.
01:01All I can say is it was down in Gordon and it was moving northwards.
01:05Police arrested the offender at 12.30 today.
01:08So in that period, police lost contact with it a couple of times and re-engaged with it
01:13as well.
01:14There were two people.
01:15One's assisting us with our enquiries, the other one has been arrested.
01:18Very concerning to police.
01:20It's also no doubt concerning to the community, but just be rest assured that ACCT Policing
01:25is working very hard to take this type of equipment off the roads and out of the public's
01:30hands.
