00:00Well, when you tell someone that a medicine for dogs cured your cancer, you better be ready for some skeptics.
00:05But Joe Tippin says it did save his life and others.
00:09And now even cancer researchers are open to the possibility it might be true.
00:14My neck, my liver, my pancreas, my bladder, in my bones, it was everywhere.
00:20Two years ago, Joe Tippin says he was told to go home, call hospice, and say his goodbyes.
00:26The doctors were unanimous he was going to die of small cell lung cancer.
00:31Once that kind of cancer goes that far afield, the odds of survival are less than one percent,
00:36and the median life expectancy is three months.
00:39Tippin says he went from 220 pounds to 110, but that was January of 2017.
00:46Today, Tippin's is very much alive, and what he credits for his survival has doctors
00:51scratching their heads and the rest of us raising eyebrows.
00:55About half the people think I'm just crazy, and half the people want to know more and dig deeper.
01:00Tippin says he got a tip, not from a pharmacist, but a veterinarian.
01:04And in his desperation, he turned from people medicine to dog medicine,
01:09specifically fimbindazole, or what you give a dog when it has worms.
01:14Truth is stranger than fiction, you know?
01:16Just three months later, Tippin says his cancer was gone.
01:20I'm usually skeptical, and I was and maybe still am about this one,
01:25but there's an interesting background to this.
01:28Cancer researchers like Steven Prescott are skeptical,
01:32but they also are not dismissing this anti-parasitics potential.
01:36He says Tippin's is not the first person to potentially benefit, and maybe not the last.
01:41Scientists at many credible places have done work on this for years.
01:45But was it the dog dewormer, or was it something else?
01:48Tippin's took the dog medicine with daily vitamin E supplements and CBD oil.
01:53He was also taking an experimental cancer-fighting drug,
01:56but Tippin says out of the 1,100 patients on that clinical trial,
02:00he was the only one cleared of cancer.
02:03Tippin says he was saved by the dog dewormer, and he plans to take it for the rest of his life.
02:10My insurance company spent $1.2 million on me,
02:14with traditional means, before I switched to a $5 a week medicine
02:18that actually saved me.
02:19Prescott says he's now working with Tippin's to organize a case study.
02:23We're going to do it and see if we can confirm that,
02:26in a very rigorous or a clinical study sort of way,
02:29that these patients had that kind of response.
02:32As for Tippin's...
02:33I've got now over 40 success stories other than me.
02:36He's sharing his story on an online blog that has already been read more than 100,000 times.
02:42Most of the feedback, positive or curious.
02:46Some, though, accuse Tippin's of giving cancer patients false hope.
02:50How do I answer that?
02:51I mean, if I've saved one other person other than me, it's worth it to me.
02:56All we know for sure is that Joe Tippin's is alive.
03:00In time, perhaps we'll also know if this medicine made for man's best friend
03:05might also be man's newest cancer cure.
03:09Fascinating.
03:09You know, when you're in the fight for your life,
03:11you don't care what it is.
03:12If it works for you, it works.
03:14Yeah, absolutely.
03:15He says, listen, I'm not a doctor.
03:16I'm not an expert.
03:17I cannot tell people to take this.
03:19I can't.
03:20But it worked for me.
03:21And if somebody else wants to do the same thing, then they can do it, too.
03:24Interesting thing, though, is that, you know, he mentioned $5 for that.
03:27He says it's actually doubled in price.
03:29Because when you type in Fimbindazole in Google,
03:32one of the first or second things that pops up is cancer cure.
03:35Wow.
03:35So the talk is out there.
03:37More and more people are catching on.
03:38But just incredible story.
03:39Evan, thank you.
