00:00:00Success is the love that you put into it. I have plenty of love to give. Yeah, you sure do
00:00:30Mom! Smells like snickerdoodle? Cinnamon, give it away. We've sold out every week since
00:00:44the new pastor let me sell them after Sunday service. Good, because every cookie sale counts
00:00:48when the flowers aren't blooming. So much for frost being over. The bloom is so far
00:00:55behind this year. The only thing we'll be harvesting for Easter is dirt. The harvest
00:00:59calendar is just an estimate. It's been off in the past. Can't control the weather, but
00:01:04we can control other things. I should hear back soon about our business loan application.
00:01:10Can't we just refinance? Not with the mortgage and arrears. Your dad would be proud of how
00:01:17hard we're trying. I know that. We have enough to make it through Easter though, right? Let's
00:01:24see what the bank says about our emergency loan. I don't know what I'd do without the
00:01:30farm. Well, we won't give up. I can still hope for an Easter miracle. Can I take a few
00:01:41of these for the road? Maybe. The tips of the cafe will be extra big on this extra
00:01:51cold morning. I love you. I love you too. Okay. Right behind you. Awesome. Muffin. I
00:02:07have a regular latte and a double espresso. Thank you. Have a good day. Thanks. Regular.
00:02:17Hey. Hey. What can I get you? Good morning. I'll have a large lavender latte with a dash of
00:02:25cinnamon, some agave, and almond milk. Only if you have it. Yeah, sure. Give me two minutes. Thank you.
00:02:31Effie, I'm pretty sure I need another two sets of hands to make it through the morning rush.
00:02:37How do you do it? When in doubt, more caffeine. Cheers. Cheers. Wow. Uh-huh. Thank you again for
00:02:50letting me pick up some extra shifts at the cafe. Things are pretty tight at the farm,
00:02:55at least until the spring bloom comes in. Well, I know you'd do anything to save the farm. For
00:03:01example, you used to love our play dates. You know, the ones where you just basically got me
00:03:05to help you weed. My dad always said that pulling weeds built character. Uh-huh. Almond milk,
00:03:15lavender latte, two pump agave, dash of cinnamon. Thanks, Amanda. Have we met before? No. You just
00:03:22have a nice, beautiful labeled name tag. Oh, I forget that's there. This might be the best latte
00:03:36I've ever had. Nope, that's all yours. That's a $14 tip. And I'd give you a $15 if I had it. You
00:03:45see, some people drink coffee to, you know, drink coffee. I drink coffee because it's an experience.
00:03:52And yours has just the right amount of lavender and agave. Mm. Not too sweet, not too floral,
00:03:59and just the right temperature for a cold day like today. Well, um, well, thank you. No,
00:04:05thank you. I've never heard anybody talk about coffee like that. No, that's because we just met.
00:04:10Right. I appreciate your artistry, your effort. Most of all, that smile. Have a good one. Have
00:04:19a good day. Um, okay. That was adorable. What? He appreciated my artistry. That was a $14 tip.
00:04:28I think he was appreciating more than just your artistry, Sam. Hi, Gladys. Oh, hi, Gladys. Amanda
00:04:35Raymond. You're in the coffee business now? Uh, just temporarily until the spring bloom comes in.
00:04:41Fingers crossed that spring is hiding around the corner. I'll just take a black. Oh, yeah. You know,
00:04:46I really do miss seeing those dedication arrangements from your farm in the church
00:04:50lobby every Sunday. That was really more my dad's thing. I know you two were close. Just know how
00:04:57much those arrangements lifted my spirits. I sure hope we get to see them again. And we hope to see
00:05:02you again, too. Um, I'm sure you'll see my mom in service on Sunday. Thank you. Have a good day. Bye.
00:05:16Everything good? Uh, yeah. Just it's hard sometimes when people talk about my dad. It brings up a lot.
00:05:25Everyone has nothing but love for him. I do, too. Except some of those gardening puns were
00:05:34way too cheesy. Um, what was a good one? Oh, you grow girl. Uh, what incarnation?
00:05:41Oh, here she comes again. Who? Someone who seems to lack a little sunshine in her life.
00:05:51Hi. I'll take the usual. Yes.
00:06:01Nice day we've been having.
00:06:03Thank you. Here you go. Keep the change. Have a good day.
00:06:13Not one for conversation much, is she? Yeah, she's a real tough cookie. Speaking of cookies,
00:06:21I think we deserve a little cookie celebration after having survived that morning rush.
00:06:26My mom made a fresh batch of snickerdoodles this morning. Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh.
00:06:33Mm. No words. I have no words. Yum? Yes. That. Wait. Idea. How many of these can your mom make?
00:06:44Because we could sell them in the cafe. I was hoping you would say that. You set me up?
00:06:50Oh, and whatever profits we make can go right back to the farm. Okay, you don't go that far.
00:06:55Amanda, I just died and went to cookie heaven. So, yeah, we should do that.
00:07:03Hi. How can I help you? Come on.
00:07:23How come they haven't come out yet? Because they still need time, Ladybug.
00:07:28But what if something is wrong? I'm getting worried. You know what I do when I'm worrying?
00:07:34I say a little prayer. Why do you do that? Because it lets me get my worries away
00:07:41instead of letting them weigh me down. And I know God will take them from me.
00:07:47You really think so? Yeah. I guess I'll try.
00:07:50Hi, God. It's me, Amanda Raymond. I'm really nervous about my garden.
00:07:58Please help them grow to be big, beautiful, and healthy. Amen. How was that? That was perfect.
00:08:08I know that you'd probably be praying right now. Prayers can't melt ice. They can't bring you back.
00:08:29Hey, are you okay? Oh, I think so. Yeah, no, no bumps, no bruises. Oh, thank goodness.
00:08:40Do you live nearby? Closer to town. My husband and I just moved here. Yeah, I'm gonna call him.
00:08:46He's gonna come and get me. Okay, okay. I can also get your car with our tractor.
00:08:52But should we go inside? It's freezing out here. You're a godsend. Amanda. Oh, sorry.
00:09:01Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just watch your step there. I'm just a little shooken up. I'll put the kettle on.
00:09:06Nothing better than a hot cup of cocoa on a frigid day. Cheers to that.
00:09:14Oh, you have a lovely home. Do you live here with your husband? No, I am single. It's my
00:09:21parents' house. Well, actually, it's my mom's house. My dad died last year. Sorry to hear that.
00:09:29I did see the sign on your farm out front. The Raymond Pick Your Own Bouquet Flower Farm? Yeah,
00:09:36that's our family business. I know it doesn't look like much right now, but hopefully in a
00:09:43few weeks it'll be a cornucopia of color out there. Oh, yeah, the weather. It's either
00:09:49they're a gardener's greatest ally or a worst enemy. Let me guess. Pink peonies and maybe a
00:09:56row of purple hyacinths to complement them. And oh, I can imagine a wide array of tulips. Perfect
00:10:03Easter flower and maybe a hybrid or two when they cross-pollinate. Okay, Lori. Most people don't
00:10:10know the difference between a daisy and a daffodil. What's your secret? My whole life has been the
00:10:16business of flowers, dear. So you're a florist? Was for 40 years. I'm officially retired now. It's
00:10:23just a hobby. I don't even compete in the annual Easter flower arranging competition anymore.
00:10:29But you have. Have you ever won? Oh, I haven't, but I placed second last year in my highest finish.
00:10:35So I'm sitting with floral royalty is what you're saying? Certainly not the queen, but
00:10:41perhaps in her royal court.
00:10:45Um, I can go get my tractor and we can get you back on the road.
00:10:48Oh, I certainly appreciate that. Thank you so much.
00:10:56Amanda, is there anything that I can do to repay you for your help with my car?
00:11:03Well, can you pull a miracle and melt the ice out there? You really need a bloom, huh? You know,
00:11:07the flower business, we make most of our money during certain seasons and with the Easter bloom
00:11:13being so far behind. Well, sadly, my alter ego is mother nature, but what, what about that Easter
00:11:20flower arranging competition? I mean, prize is $20,000. Wow. I mean, that would be enough to get
00:11:30us through the season, except there's just one tiny, huge problem. I'm a farmer, not a florist.
00:11:39I mean, that's why we have our customers pick their own bouquets. Well, that's where I come in.
00:11:43I mean, I know six weeks is not a lot of time, but I can teach you what you need to compete.
00:11:49If you're willing to learn the cost of flowers alone. No, no, no. I can handle it. And we can
00:11:55always practice with silk flowers. I mean, think about it. We might even dethrone queen Constance
00:12:03Hughes. Constance? Yeah. She's won 10 years in a row. Come on. Just take my number here.
00:12:13There you go. This is a very generous offering. I'm sure it'd be fun to learn, but I couldn't
00:12:31compete. I'd be going against people with years of experience. Thank you, but I'll just have to
00:12:38find some other way to keep us afloat. Okay. Call me if you change your mind.
00:12:46I will. Come on, let's go get your car. Yes, please.
00:12:54No, I understand. You're just doing your job. Thank you. Hey, is everything okay?
00:13:03That was the bank, Amanda. Our last two years of sales just
00:13:08aren't enough to give them confidence to approve the loan.
00:13:11But that was our Hail Mary to get caught up.
00:13:23I have to do it. Do what?
00:13:26The statewide Easter flower arranging competition. The first prize is $20,000. It's at least enough
00:13:32to keep us afloat until the bloom comes. Flower arranging. Is this a skill that you've been
00:13:37hiding from me? Hiding from everyone, including myself. But I met a florist yesterday and she's
00:13:47retired, but she's competed before and she said she'd teach me. Your dad would love to hear that.
00:13:55I have to at least try. Maybe our last hope. Well, a little bit of hope is all we need.
00:14:06Amanda, I have to ask, what made you change your mind about the competition?
00:14:14Our business loan application got denied, so winning the competition prize money,
00:14:22it feels like maybe the farm's last hope.
00:14:26Well, then let's not waste any time. Take a look at your blank canvas.
00:14:34Oh, I know that look. The I have no idea where to begin look?
00:14:39Yeah, that one. Let's just have fun to start and we'll see what we're working with.
00:14:44Uh, so hyenas, and ranunculus, iris, and go to a classic, got some roses. Yeah, you do know all
00:14:55the names of the flowers and how they grow, but I want to see you actually create something. I
00:15:01think that my creative side is still hibernating for winter. It's a good thing there's no pressure.
00:15:06Come on, just have fun. Okay. You asked for it.
00:15:14Get some.
00:15:19And, um,
00:15:19um, roses.
00:15:37I call it a thorn amidst roses.
00:15:42Mm hmm. It's rough. I, I, I know, but I am ready and willing to do whatever it takes.
00:15:50That's the spirit. Don't be so hard on yourself. You got a lot to learn. There are five principles
00:15:55to floral design. You master those, you've got a chance to win. They are harmony, contrast,
00:15:59purpose, balance, and I'm going to keep the last one a secret. A secret. Well, I mean,
00:16:07don't I need all five to win the competition? That's a secret for now, at least. I mean,
00:16:12it's something that you can only learn after you've succeeded at the first four, but
00:16:17let's get on with it. No, the first principle is harmony.
00:16:22Harmony? Yeah. We're going on a field trip for this one. Come on, let's take a walk. Okay.
00:16:30Lesson awaits. Inside? Is everything okay? I, I haven't been back inside since my dad's funeral
00:16:47and that was over a year ago. So it brings back a lot. A lot. Hey mom. Oh, Derek. Hey. Perfect
00:16:58timing. Meet Amanda Raymond. She's the flower protege I was telling you about. We've met, uh,
00:17:05Mr. Lavender Latte. Mm-hmm. It's good to see you. Minus the name tag. I'm Derek, the new pastor.
00:17:15It's a pleasure. Well, I don't want to get in the way of flower training. Yeah. Live for choir
00:17:21practice myself. So as you can hear, I need all the help I can get. Well, we're on our way there
00:17:29as well. All right. I'll see you inside. Um, only of course you're ready.
00:17:47I just need a moment. Take your time.
00:18:02So
00:18:15thank you. Just thank you. Pink was Sonia's favorite color. Yeah.
00:18:18Laurie, I, I'm, I just can't.
00:18:49I know I'm, I'm ruining the lesson. No, no, don't feel bad for one sec. You know,
00:18:55it's not one of the five principles, but the key to any successful arranger is the
00:18:58ability to adapt. It's not, not every arrangement's going to go exactly as you want it to.
00:19:05Amanda, everything okay? Yeah. I, I'm just not ready to go back in there, pastor.
00:19:13Please. It's only passed around Sundays. It's Derek. Don't be so hard on yourself.
00:19:19If you're not ready, it's on your time. Okay. And I'd be happy to open the door for you if,
00:19:24and when that time comes, I appreciate it. It's, um, it's very chivalrous.
00:19:32Well, I was raised well. I'll let you two get to it. Hope to see you again.
00:19:45This is like an antique. Well, it's very retro. Now for your lesson,
00:19:50I want you to pay special attention to each person's solo.
00:19:55As I went down to the river to study about that.
00:20:09Right. Okay. I'm following. Oh, here's the best part.
00:20:12The harmony. Yes. So I think we can agree that individually,
00:20:29these flowers are lovely, right? Right. Now I want you to close your eyes,
00:20:35close your eyes. And I want you to imagine that the quartet is singing.
00:20:43Oh,
00:20:53how did you your first lesson grasshopper? I'm more of a ladybug person. No, it is.
00:21:02See, the key is to look for ways for the flowers to compliment one another.
00:21:08Okay. Now you give it a try. Ladybug. Okay.
00:21:18So as you can see, we've substantially upped our offer, really taking into consideration
00:21:23the value and acreage of the land. Tom, we've told you before and we will tell you again.
00:21:30It's not for sale. Hi, Amanda. Your father was a good friend of mine,
00:21:33and I'm trying to help you and your mom by providing another alternative.
00:21:39Is that a letter from the mortgage company? We're getting more and more behind and without
00:21:46the business loan to notice a foreclosure. Again, I don't want to be in this position,
00:21:51but I'd like to give you the option to earn something substantial and fair based on what
00:21:56you've built as opposed to other options. We still have time, Tom, and you're right.
00:22:03You and Craig were close, so you'd know that he would decline my offer respectfully.
00:22:11I'm rooting for you. Reach out to me before you hear from the bank again.
00:22:16You know where to find me.
00:22:24Foreclosure? How did this happen? No reserves in bad weather, and your dad was the flower whisperer.
00:22:34I should have put back here when dad asked me to. Maybe then I would know more about the business
00:22:39Listen to me. This is not your fault. Have faith that things will turn around.
00:22:45Why would God do this to us? After everything we went through with dad and Frost, and now foreclosure?
00:22:52God doesn't work like that, Amanda.
00:22:57I'll tell you what. I'll get more hours at the accounting firm, and I'll keep baking,
00:23:02and I'll give you time to practice so you can win that competition.
00:23:07How'd it go today? Yeah, um, sorry, but, um, I wouldn't count on winning the competition.
00:23:22God wants us to be joyful, but that doesn't mean we have to be happy all the time.
00:23:29But that doesn't mean we have to be happy all the time. There will be times in our lives of struggle,
00:23:36of loss, but even when there are tears rolling down your cheeks, there can still be joy in your
00:23:42heart. Ultimately, I want you all to remember that during the Easter season. Joy can be steadfast in
00:23:51sorrow and triumphant in tribulation. Amen? Amen. Amen. Amen.
00:24:01James. Pleasure. Thanks for being here. Good to see you.
00:24:06Sweetheart. Oh, sweetheart. Great. Thank you, Papa. Thank you. Wonderful sermon today, D.
00:24:15Or should I say Pastor D? Damiel Stevens in the flesh. It's good to see you, my friend.
00:24:20Don't tell me you came all this way just to hear me preach. I know you're busy now, but hear me out.
00:24:25I'm starting a new venture that could be a really exciting opportunity for you,
00:24:29a way to connect your two passions. Okay. All right. Well, we should find time to chat.
00:24:34Catch up. We'll talk soon. Good to see you. You too.
00:24:40Pastor. Uh. It's so sunny. Okay. You get a hall pass. Uh, lavender latte. Just the way you like
00:24:48it. And what did I do to deserve this? Yeah. Token of my appreciation for your very generous
00:24:55tip the other day. But I don't want to keep you from the congregation. Please. My congregation's
00:24:59too busy gobbling up your mama's banana bread. So, um, I've got an hour until my next service.
00:25:06Do you care for a walk? Uh, sure.
00:25:20So how are you liking town so far? I love it. Although for me, it's a bit cold. Yeah. My
00:25:27parents grew up in Vermont, so they're used to it. But, uh, I was raised mostly in the South.
00:25:31You know, come to think of it, people here are like the weather there. Warm.
00:25:38Your mom said that you are a bit of an outdoorsy type.
00:25:42That's my mom. Loves talking about her son. But she's right. I do love being outside.
00:25:49It's my happy place. She also, uh, mentioned four wheeling. Did she? And axe throwing.
00:25:59Of course she did. Mountain biking. What else? Uh, skydiving. That's actually a lot of fun.
00:26:07If I met you today, I never would have would have guessed.
00:26:11Is it the, uh, clean shaven, tailored suit jacket,
00:26:15polished dress shoes thing? It's not your typical mudding outfit. Can't say I've met too many pastors
00:26:22who like axe throwing and skydiving. Well, if you can't tell, it means I'm doing a good job.
00:26:28What does that mean? I'm new to this town,
00:26:31so I don't want people, you know, knowing about my extreme adventure side just yet.
00:26:39You think that they really care what you do for fun when you're not working?
00:26:43They have a lot of trust in me. And being a pastor is a big responsibility. I don't want
00:26:47people thinking that I'm reckless and irresponsible during my downtime. I hope you understand.
00:26:53Can we just keep this between us? Seriously? Seriously.
00:27:01Sure. Only if you tell me more about skydiving. I never prayed so hard in my life.
00:27:09Amanda, it's six in the morning. What are you doing?
00:27:14I couldn't sleep and wanted to start prepping things before heading to Laurie's later today.
00:27:19Well, let me help.
00:27:24Saw you got to meet her son. Mom, it's not like that. He's the, the pastor.
00:27:31He's not a pastor. He's not a pastor. He's not a pastor.
00:27:35Mom, it's not like that. He's the, the pastor. And I don't know. We're just in
00:27:42two different places. You know, when I met your father at the farmer's market,
00:27:48we were both searching for the perfect bouquet. I both found it exactly the same time.
00:27:53And he insisted on buying it. And I let him only to have him purchase it and give it to me.
00:28:00But while your father was a man who was incredibly firm in his faith,
00:28:05he was also a man who was always willing to meet me wherever I was in my faith journey.
00:28:12I just met Derek. I don't know that much about him.
00:28:15Well, and I'm sure he has a lot to learn about you too.
00:28:19Just do yourself a favor. Don't let your own fears get in the way.
00:28:30You were always dad's ladybug.
00:28:34The ladybugs are returning. There's a slight bit of hope that the ground will soften soon.
00:28:42Well, a slight bit of hope is all we need.
00:28:46Amanda, are all of these table arrangements yours?
00:29:00Yeah, I'm practicing for a flower arranging competition.
00:29:04Why are you using fake flowers?
00:29:06Well, the frost and I don't have the budget for a fresh one,
00:29:10so I've just been using fake ones to practice.
00:29:13Practicing with fake flowers? That just won't do.
00:29:15Please, let me donate to your flower fund and I'll take all of your mom's cookies too.
00:29:20No, no, you can't. It's too generous.
00:29:24Of course I can. Consider it an investment in you and your talent.
00:29:28My reward comes in the beautiful arrangements I get to see from you here and at church.
00:29:36Thank you, Gladys.
00:29:43Okay, as much as I would love to take a break and go shopping,
00:29:51shouldn't we be focusing on flowers?
00:29:54Ladybug, you have much to learn.
00:29:56Lori, right on time.
00:30:00Amanda, so good to see you. I am so excited that you came in today.
00:30:03Our spring line just came out and let me tell you, it is amazing.
00:30:07Feels like you should be focusing more on pushing scarves and jackets with the current weather.
00:30:12Well, you know what? If you think spring, then it will come.
00:30:16But...
00:30:17What do you say we try on some outfits?
00:30:18Yes.
00:30:19Amanda, I want you to pick out an outfit.
00:30:22Any outfit?
00:30:23Whatever moves you.
00:30:26Okay.
00:30:39Very cute. Bright.
00:30:42Oh, it's bright.
00:30:43No, no, no. What do you think?
00:30:46It's lovely, but follow me.
00:30:56Oh, there you go.
00:31:03Yes.
00:31:04Very pretty.
00:31:06Angelic.
00:31:07Yes.
00:31:14Okay.
00:31:20Try something else.
00:31:25Wow.
00:31:27Please twirl, twirl.
00:31:43So what seems like a fun fashion show is actually a valuable lesson in floral design.
00:31:48You're going to learn that very soon.
00:31:56Come on.
00:32:03So is there a reason you're avoiding the Constance?
00:32:09Constance and I, well, we used to be best friends.
00:32:14Used to be?
00:32:15Yeah. We worked in the same florist shop for years.
00:32:19Why, she had such an eye for design.
00:32:22Yeah, there was so much laughter.
00:32:24We worked so many hours in that shop, creating arrangements for every occasion.
00:32:30It's missing something, something bright and yellow.
00:32:37A sunflower.
00:32:39There was a signature to all our designs.
00:32:42It was a single sunflower.
00:32:45I like to think that it represented the brightness of our friendship
00:32:48until circumstances changed that forever.
00:32:54You see, we had a plan.
00:32:58We were going to open our own floral shop.
00:33:02And then I, then I met Don, fell in love, got engaged.
00:33:09He relocated for work and I had to make a choice.
00:33:14Follow my fiance or keep my promise to my best friend.
00:33:20And it broke Constance's heart.
00:33:24She stopped talking to me and I did the same.
00:33:27And there was no coming back from it.
00:33:29I'm sorry to hear that.
00:33:31You can imagine how tense it is when we see each other every year at competition.
00:33:35And now, thanks to my son, we're practically neighbors.
00:33:39Why haven't you ever tried to reconcile?
00:33:42I think we're both just too proud to forgive.
00:33:49So, take a look at this first outfit.
00:33:56You see how the black skirt really makes the red top stand out even more?
00:34:01Yeah, it pops.
00:34:02Yeah, it doesn't have to be just color.
00:34:04I mean, look at this one with the free-flowing skirt and the fitted top.
00:34:07So shapes.
00:34:10And, and the stripes here with the solid color.
00:34:14Patterns.
00:34:15Yes, right.
00:34:15You're learning.
00:34:17The second principle is contrast.
00:34:19How contrasting colors, patterns, shapes, textures can all make things stand out even more.
00:34:25Now, look, I made this one earlier.
00:34:29It's not terribly exciting, is it?
00:34:32Use a boost.
00:34:33Yeah, I think so.
00:34:36Okay.
00:34:37So, what you're saying is that contrasting things can come together to create something that is beautiful.
00:34:55Exactly.
00:34:58Kind of like you and Constance.
00:35:03You.
00:35:05You caught me in my own lesson.
00:35:08Maybe you have something to learn too.
00:35:14I think it's too late for that.
00:35:19But you know what?
00:35:19I am going to go make us some lunch.
00:35:22You're going to practice contrasting arrangements.
00:35:24And then I'm going to see what you have when I get back.
00:35:28Okay.
00:35:37Hey.
00:35:39Oh, hi.
00:35:39Are you in the floral zone or can I say it a quick hello?
00:35:43I think I would have to be skilled to be in the zone.
00:35:47Come on in.
00:35:50So, I have to ask, which one of these flowers is your favorite?
00:35:56Uh, favorite flower.
00:35:59That's like picking a favorite child.
00:36:02I mean, I guess I would have to say the hydrangeas.
00:36:07Or maybe on second thought, carnations or...
00:36:10No, maybe roses.
00:36:12I don't know.
00:36:12It's too, too difficult to do.
00:36:14I love seeing how passionate you are about them.
00:36:20Well, flower protege, I'll leave you to your craft.
00:36:24I do have one very important question.
00:36:34Will you?
00:36:37Accept this rose?
00:36:41Um, well, after careful consideration...
00:36:49I will gladly accept this rose.
00:36:52You have my heart pounding for a second there.
00:36:57I have another question for you.
00:37:06Hi.
00:37:17Was this because of you, Pastor?
00:37:20Ask your daughter.
00:37:28All right, everyone, right this way.
00:37:30Don't be shy.
00:37:35Sorry.
00:37:36It's okay.
00:37:48So, what's up?
00:37:49Well, like I said Sunday, I'm starting a new venture.
00:37:52It's a new mountain retreats program.
00:37:54We're doing week-long spiritual retreats for young men up in the Shenandoah Valley.
00:37:59It's a great experience for our retreatants to be in nature and pray.
00:38:03Hmm.
00:38:04I've actively been looking for a spiritual leader to guide them, but then it hit me.
00:38:11You're the perfect guy for the job.
00:38:13God, the mountains, it has Derek Matthews written all over it.
00:38:19I mean, Sammy, you know I would do just about anything for you.
00:38:22I mean, I wouldn't be here right now if it wasn't for you.
00:38:26It's just...
00:38:27I know relocation is inconvenient, given you just moved here,
00:38:31but this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
00:38:34Come on, don't you miss the mountains?
00:38:36More than anything.
00:38:38But I...
00:38:41I don't rock climb anymore.
00:38:44That's not the only thing this is about.
00:38:47Your story is powerful.
00:38:49The agony, the tears.
00:38:52I want to be able to use your story to draw others closer to God.
00:39:01Please really think on it.
00:39:02Our first retreat starts shortly after Easter, so...
00:39:06So, you need an assistant?
00:39:16A new concoction?
00:39:18Why not?
00:39:18I want to see what your creative side's been brewing up.
00:39:22Vanilla.
00:39:23Solid.
00:39:24Oh, cardamom.
00:39:26Um, okay.
00:39:27I-I know that you, Amanda, are still kind of a coffee novice,
00:39:32but, um, I-I just, uh, just let me let you in on a little industry secret.
00:39:37You never combine vanilla with cardamom.
00:39:39They're totally different, opposite, uh, flavor profiles.
00:39:42They don't work together.
00:39:44Uh, yeah.
00:39:45Okay.
00:39:45Don't think, just experience it.
00:39:49Yes, it's just that the sweetness of the vanilla...
00:39:51...contrasts perfectly with the spice and complexity of the cardamom.
00:39:59You're a genius.
00:40:00What?
00:40:01No, just, uh, just a good student.
00:40:03We have to put this on the regular menu, like, right now.
00:40:05What do you want to call it?
00:40:06Maybe I'll have a ladybug latte.
00:40:11Oh, two pumps extra handsome incoming?
00:40:14Oh, Mr. Lavender Latte.
00:40:19Hello.
00:40:19Hi.
00:40:20Good morning, Amanda, Effie.
00:40:22I'll do my, uh, usual please and thank you.
00:40:25Oh, you know what?
00:40:26Actually, you should try Amanda's new creation.
00:40:29The ladybug latte, Mr. Laven...
00:40:31Pastor.
00:40:33Right.
00:40:33Sure.
00:40:34Ladybug latte.
00:40:35That sounds very unique.
00:40:37It's Amanda's creation.
00:40:38I'll try it.
00:40:41Mmm.
00:40:43That is...
00:40:44That is divine.
00:40:46It's delicious.
00:40:47Oh, um, Amanda.
00:40:48Great chef today.
00:40:49You should, uh, go home.
00:40:51But don't I...
00:40:52No, no, no, no.
00:40:53Actually, um, we're out of your mom's cookies.
00:40:56So, uh, I'm gonna need you to make another batch of those.
00:40:59Uh, yes.
00:41:02Ah, cookies.
00:41:04And it would be so much easier, um, if there were two pairs of hands, um, helping you do that.
00:41:09I have to stay here though.
00:41:10So I just, I wonder if there's anyone else who could help you.
00:41:14Mm-hmm.
00:41:17Oh, um, yeah.
00:41:19I mean, the whole reason I came in today was to get a little break from my Sunday preparations.
00:41:23I'd be happy to lend a stirring hand.
00:41:25Of course, if you don't mind.
00:41:27No, she doesn't mind.
00:41:28I... I don't mind.
00:41:36Have you done this before?
00:41:37What?
00:41:38Have you done this before?
00:41:40Oh, uh...
00:41:41Have you done this before?
00:41:45Is it that easy to tell?
00:41:47Just a little.
00:41:48My mom normally takes charge in the kitchen.
00:41:51I just kind of follow her lead.
00:41:53Yeah, I never would have guessed that.
00:41:56Uh, so, um, how did you get into the business of God?
00:42:01Oh, I see you're changing the subject now, huh?
00:42:03Oh, just, you know, redirecting away from this flowery fiasco.
00:42:07I'm just, um, that's just kind of curious.
00:42:10You know, to tell you the truth, I never thought I'd be a preacher or a pastor.
00:42:14I, um, I went to business school, of all places.
00:42:18Quickly found out the corporate world was not for me.
00:42:21So I decided to follow my passion for the great outdoors and teach rock climbing.
00:42:26I loved it.
00:42:27For years.
00:42:28But, um, and one event changed my life.
00:42:37I fell.
00:42:39Sixty feet.
00:42:41I, uh, cracked my vertebrae in multiple places.
00:42:44I had five surgeries.
00:42:46Doctor said I'd never walk again.
00:42:48Derek, I'm so sorry to hear that.
00:42:52Yeah.
00:42:55Yeah, that time in the hospital was like my desert.
00:43:01I didn't have much to turn to.
00:43:04But then I met Samuel Stevens.
00:43:06He was, uh, my occupational therapist.
00:43:08He not only taught me how to walk again, but he taught me about God.
00:43:13He saved my life.
00:43:16I'd do just about anything for him.
00:43:18He, uh, he gave me his granddaddy's Bible.
00:43:21I started reading it.
00:43:21Haven't put down since.
00:43:24That book, it gave me hope.
00:43:27Hope turned into healing.
00:43:28And before I know it, I was walking again.
00:43:33Wow.
00:43:34I mean, that's, that's an amazing story.
00:43:38Yeah.
00:43:40But do you ever wonder how you would feel if you were never healed?
00:43:47Of course I did.
00:43:50But I'm a firm believer in faith.
00:43:54You see, things happen for a reason.
00:43:59Even if you can't see it in the moment.
00:44:02Faith.
00:44:03Yeah, that's a, that's a hard one.
00:44:07Yeah, it is.
00:44:08Especially when things aren't going your way.
00:44:13Kind of like now?
00:44:15Yeah.
00:44:18Care to share?
00:44:20It's just, uh, me and a big pile of dough.
00:44:28So I've been struggling a lot with that because every year my dad would pray for a
00:44:36bountiful Easter harvest and every year it seemed that his prayers were answered.
00:44:46So why did he, of all people, have a heart attack?
00:44:52When he died, I, I came home to help my mom on the farm.
00:44:57And after his funeral, I just, I stopped praying.
00:45:03I stopped going to church.
00:45:07And then this year of all years when we needed our biggest Easter bloom yet,
00:45:15we've had the worst winter in, in decades.
00:45:19So am I supposed to trust that's just a coincidence?
00:45:23Or is that a punishment?
00:45:25I don't think God's waiting for us to get out of line just so he can reprimand us.
00:45:29But it's not punishment.
00:45:31Look, I like to believe that God, he, he loves us just as much in good times as bad.
00:45:40Maybe during hard times, he just wanted us to get a little closer to him.
00:45:44Comfort, support, love.
00:45:49God loves us always.
00:45:53I mean, you're a pastor, so you have to say that, right?
00:45:57Technically.
00:45:58I am, but I still make mistakes.
00:46:05I'm also, uh, supposed to take care of people and, uh, right now, getting this flower.
00:46:17There.
00:46:28So these are winners from previous years.
00:46:32And then there's mine.
00:46:37Well, there's still time till Easter.
00:46:43Oh, good timing.
00:46:46Lori.
00:46:46Good morning, Ladybug.
00:46:48Can you please tell me that you have another lesson ready?
00:46:51Because I still don't feel like I'm getting it.
00:46:53Patience makes perfect.
00:46:55It's time for your third principle, purpose.
00:46:59Now, we've been working on floral arrangements,
00:47:01but it's important that every design says something on a more deeper personal level.
00:47:07You have to find inspiration outside the flowers to put into the flowers.
00:47:12Okay, I'm following.
00:47:14So here's what I want you to do.
00:47:15The church is hosting an Easter basket raffle tomorrow evening at parish hall
00:47:19to raise money for the local food bank.
00:47:21Church members and non-church members are creating and donating individualized baskets.
00:47:26Now, the items in these baskets, they all mean something very personal to their curators.
00:47:32So you want me to arrange an Easter basket,
00:47:36but how is that supposed to make me a better floral arranger?
00:47:42Lori?
00:47:45Sorry, dear.
00:47:48Not every lesson reveals itself right away.
00:47:52Okay, I will do my best.
00:47:55You always do.
00:47:57I'll see you tomorrow.
00:48:08Any ideas on where I'd get some inspiration for an Easter basket?
00:48:12I just might.
00:48:18Oh, here's a good one.
00:48:20I used to love it when dad would push me around in the wheelbarrow.
00:48:23And you always came in needing a bath.
00:48:30You remember that Christmas?
00:48:32That's probably the best Christmas ever.
00:48:35You know, I still use those pruning shears.
00:48:40Feeling inspired?
00:48:42I've got an idea.
00:48:47Oh, thanks so much for coming.
00:48:48Don't forget your raffle tickets.
00:48:51So, what do you have?
00:48:55I did a My First Garden basket.
00:48:57I got something like this with Christmas's many, many moons ago,
00:49:01and it really meant a lot to me.
00:49:04It gave me a sense of independence and purpose,
00:49:07so hopefully it'll do the same for someone else.
00:49:09You, Ladybug, have aced the assignment.
00:49:11When you have a special connection to your arrangements,
00:49:14it's going to show in the final product.
00:49:21Um, Grace, can I have your help, please?
00:49:23Sure.
00:49:28Well, well, well, look at that garden basket.
00:49:32Where's the mulch?
00:49:33Oh, it didn't go with the aesthetic.
00:49:36Where's yours?
00:49:37Uh, it's a faith-based basket, complete with mustard seeds.
00:49:44Very on-brand.
00:49:46But why don't you do something that's, you know,
00:49:48like a rock climbing basket with some ropes, carabiners?
00:49:52I know, I know, I can't control everything,
00:49:55but one thing I can control is how people in the church see me.
00:49:59Maybe there's something important about sharing all sides of yourself.
00:50:05It's a little more complicated than that.
00:50:10But of course.
00:50:12I'm here to meet you where you're at.
00:50:15I'm sorry, are you coming for my job?
00:50:16No, I'll stick to farming.
00:50:19For now.
00:50:21All right.
00:50:22Well, for now, I should go emcee the event.
00:50:36All right, and now for all the green thumbs in the church.
00:50:40We have a basket donated by the wonderful Amanda Raymond.
00:50:46A beautiful starter set for the next great gardener out there.
00:50:50Would you look at all those tickets?
00:50:52All right, let's see what we've got.
00:50:55And the lucky winner is 2842.
00:51:002842.
00:51:0228, that's me.
00:51:04Well, there we go.
00:51:06Constance Hughes.
00:51:08Constance Hughes, everyone.
00:51:09Thank you, Constance.
00:51:11You enjoy.
00:51:11Okay, everyone, I think that wraps up our event for today.
00:51:15Thank you all for coming out.
00:51:23Hey, look over there.
00:51:27This, this is for you.
00:51:29Really?
00:51:30Yeah, I think this is, oh.
00:51:37You're welcome.
00:51:39Hey, look at that.
00:51:40Uh-huh, that right there.
00:51:44That's the power of God's love.
00:51:48I, um, I do have to get home and practice,
00:51:51but, uh, I was wondering if I could show you something first.
00:51:56Yeah, yeah, of course.
00:52:09And voila.
00:52:12Wow, you got good secrets.
00:52:18Look at those stars.
00:52:21God's freckles.
00:52:23And that's what my mom used to say.
00:52:27Can I ask you something?
00:52:29Sure, anything.
00:52:31I haven't been to church in a year and you're a pastor.
00:52:39What do you see in me?
00:52:42So much.
00:52:44I don't look at someone and wonder how often they're going to church
00:52:49or praying every day.
00:52:51The size of someone's faith, that can change as life changes.
00:52:56But the size of someone's heart, that's what I see.
00:53:02I see that in you.
00:53:06The way you love your family, your farm.
00:53:11Those flowers.
00:53:15And I might be losing all that soon.
00:53:19I know the stress of all this must be a lot, but I have faith.
00:53:27I see that in you too.
00:53:29You do?
00:53:31I do.
00:53:34I'm praying for you.
00:53:36Be patient with yourself.
00:53:38That's my sermon for tomorrow.
00:53:41The fruit of patience.
00:53:43Now that's a tough one.
00:53:46Yeah?
00:53:48It is.
00:53:50But it's worth it.
00:53:56Um, you probably have some flowers that need to be arranged.
00:54:02Yes.
00:54:03We should probably get going.
00:54:04Yeah.
00:54:10For bringing me here.
00:54:12Yeah.
00:54:13Okay.
00:54:17Patience.
00:54:26All right, everything's set.
00:54:29Oh, Amanda!
00:54:30Hi, Lori.
00:54:31I remember doing these eight races back in the day.
00:54:34This is your fourth principal.
00:54:36Balance.
00:54:38Oh.
00:54:40All right, kids.
00:54:41Oh, and Amanda.
00:54:43Welcome.
00:54:45The first race is a practice race, okay?
00:54:48Time to perfect your strategy.
00:54:49If you drop your egg, don't worry.
00:54:50It's a hard roll.
00:54:51Then you just pick it back up and keep going.
00:54:53All right, come to the starting line.
00:54:55On your marks.
00:54:57Get set.
00:55:00Go!
00:55:01Go, go, go, go!
00:55:02Careful, careful.
00:55:03You got it.
00:55:05Go, go, go.
00:55:08No, that's it.
00:55:09That's it, Timmy.
00:55:10Go, go, go.
00:55:11Yes.
00:55:13Great effort.
00:55:15Great practice round.
00:55:16Okay, the real race starts in a few minutes.
00:55:18Do your stretches.
00:55:19How did I used to be so good at this as a kid?
00:55:22Think of it like this.
00:55:23Look at your floral design.
00:55:24And you have an imaginary axis going right down the middle of it.
00:55:27And you can distribute flowers on both sides.
00:55:29Well, think of it the same way with the race.
00:55:33Center the egg on the spoon on that same axis.
00:55:36Center on the axis to create some balance.
00:55:40So, feeling confident?
00:55:43Uh, about as confident as I can be after one attempt.
00:55:46Well, good, because I'm racing too.
00:55:52Care to make a friendly wager?
00:55:53I'm listening.
00:55:55Well, if you win, I'll make you lunch.
00:55:58If I win, you have to listen to my Sunday sermon.
00:56:04You know what?
00:56:06Fine, you're on.
00:56:07All right, line up in the starting line.
00:56:09First one to the finish wins.
00:56:12And get ready, because this one's going to be a lot faster than the last one.
00:56:16Are you ready?
00:56:17On your mark, get set, go.
00:56:22Oh, gosh, don't drop it.
00:56:24Oh, gosh.
00:56:26I'm not cheating.
00:56:27I'm a pastor.
00:56:28I've never cheated.
00:56:29Oh, no.
00:56:32No, no.
00:56:33Oh, good job, guys.
00:56:36Yay.
00:56:38Good work.
00:56:39Wow, you really got me.
00:56:43I don't think I've ever seen somebody look so happy to lose a bet.
00:56:46Well, losing means I get to take you to lunch.
00:56:51Well, Ladybug, those are the four principles that I can teach you.
00:56:56Harmony, contrast, purpose, and balance.
00:56:58But there's still one left.
00:57:00Master four and earn the fifth.
00:57:03That one's in here, my dear.
00:57:05You have to discover it.
00:57:06And in the meantime, you need to do the three P's of an expert floral arranger.
00:57:11The three P's?
00:57:14Practice, practice, practice.
00:57:22All right, almost there.
00:57:33It's incredible.
00:57:35Come on.
00:57:42So this is what I wanted to show you.
00:57:48They're snowdrops.
00:57:49I had no idea what they're called.
00:57:51I just thought they were pretty.
00:57:55They're perfect.
00:57:58Snowdrops can grow in adverse conditions like frost.
00:58:01But they also tend to be the first flowers to bloom in spring.
00:58:07They kind of remind me of you.
00:58:14Thank you for taking me here.
00:58:16We're not done yet.
00:58:17No, we are just getting started.
00:58:26So the other day at the raffle, you were talking about
00:58:30how it was complicated, your image and how the church saw you.
00:58:37What did you mean by that?
00:58:39Yeah, when I told you about my accident the other day,
00:58:45I wasn't able to tell you the whole story.
00:58:49You see, when I fell, I lost my footing.
00:58:55And one of my students, he was tethered to me.
00:59:00He fell even further than I did.
00:59:03And he wasn't as lucky.
00:59:09He didn't make it?
00:59:10No, he did.
00:59:12Thank God he did.
00:59:15Just...
00:59:18He's in a wheelchair now.
00:59:23When a day goes by, I don't think about that poor kid.
00:59:27I blame myself.
00:59:30And I can't even bring myself to rock climb again.
00:59:35I'm sorry.
00:59:39You know, in many ways, I feel like moving out here was just my attempt to
00:59:44get away from the memory of it all.
00:59:48I feel like such a hypocrite sometimes.
00:59:50I'm asking people to find joy in their sorrow.
00:59:54And here I am, running for my own.
01:00:00We all have chapters of our lives that we wish we could rewrite.
01:00:07My dad would say, without tests, there could be no testimony.
01:00:14Being open and vulnerable shows your humanity.
01:00:21It gives people hope.
01:00:25I really like that.
01:00:52Have you decided?
01:00:54Have you decided?
01:00:55Your great word will reach so many young people.
01:00:58I know.
01:00:59I want to help.
01:01:02And you more than anyone know about my adventurous side.
01:01:05What better way then?
01:01:07There's no way around this relocation thing.
01:01:09Unfortunately not, given the need to be near the mountains.
01:01:13But think of all the upside.
01:01:15It's just too good of an opportunity to pass up, isn't it?
01:01:23Well, it's a pleasure, Samuel, as always.
01:01:29It's good to see you.
01:01:30Take care, friend.
01:01:31You too.
01:01:48Amanda?
01:01:52Amanda!
01:01:53Amanda!
01:02:12You got this.
01:02:20Good morning, Amanda.
01:02:22I'm afraid I had a bit of a fall carrying groceries this morning.
01:02:25I'm at the hospital now, getting some x-rays.
01:02:27Don't worry, I'll be fine.
01:02:29Keep practicing.
01:02:30I believe in you, Ladybug.
01:02:33Really?
01:02:34Is this part of your master plan?
01:02:42Here's the good news.
01:02:46You are the creator of your own garden.
01:02:48Yeah, there might be a weed here or there.
01:02:51Those you just pull out.
01:02:53They weren't supposed to be there in the first place.
01:02:57But with what's left, why not water that with love?
01:03:02Let the light shine down on that.
01:03:05It'll grow into a life that is beautiful.
01:03:11You're right.
01:03:12Thanks, Dad.
01:03:13I needed that.
01:03:18Hi.
01:03:25Amanda, you and Derek, you just missed crossing paths.
01:03:28Oh, my.
01:03:31You did these?
01:03:35This morning.
01:03:36Well, Ladybug, I think you are ready to go win a competition.
01:03:42Well, there's still one missing piece.
01:03:44But I think I know what that final lesson is.
01:03:48You do?
01:03:50True beauty comes from the heart.
01:03:52So the key to a winning arrangement has to be love.
01:04:00Bravo.
01:04:02The final principle of love.
01:04:06A winning floral arrangement is filled with the love that you put into making it.
01:04:13Amanda.
01:04:13Yeah.
01:04:15I very likely won't be on my feet in time for the competition.
01:04:18But I promise you, I am going to be there in spirit.
01:04:23But that really means a lot.
01:04:27So what's going on with you and Derek?
01:04:35You know, when someone shows you who they are, just believe them.
01:04:41Not just the bad traits, but the good ones, too.
01:04:47Forgive him.
01:04:53It sounds like we could all use a little more harmony in our lives.
01:05:00Yeah, you're so right.
01:05:05Could you do me a favor?
01:05:07Sure.
01:05:11Oh, hello.
01:05:16I'm Amanda Raymond.
01:05:18We've never really talked.
01:05:20I work...
01:05:20Honey, I don't mean to be rude.
01:05:22But there's a very important floral competition this weekend that I need to focus on.
01:05:25So now is not a good time.
01:05:27Yeah, I hear you.
01:05:28I just need five minutes of your time.
01:05:33Come in.
01:05:38This way, please.
01:05:40Wow, that's gorgeous.
01:05:48I'm here actually as a delivery person today.
01:05:52Laurie Matthews wanted me to give this to you.
01:06:03Oh, Loretta, how far apart we've grown.
01:06:07I don't actually think the two of you are as far apart as you each think.
01:06:14Anyway, good luck at the competition tomorrow.
01:06:16I mean, not that you're gonna need it.
01:06:20Thank you for stopping by.
01:06:22You're welcome.
01:06:30Hey, God.
01:06:32It's me, Amanda.
01:06:37I know we haven't talked in a while.
01:06:42But I'm here.
01:06:45We really need you.
01:06:57Ladybug latte for luck.
01:07:00You're the best.
01:07:01So, win the competition, save the font.
01:07:05No pressure, right?
01:07:06Well, if it doesn't work out, maybe you can come on as a partner at the cafe.
01:07:12But who am I kidding?
01:07:13You're gonna win this thing.
01:07:15Okay, bye.
01:07:18Welcome, talented florists.
01:07:20You will all have three hours to create your designs with a short break at the halfway point.
01:07:25As instructed in the contest details, you are all allowed to make your own designs.
01:07:30You are all allowed to bring in and incorporate one item meaningful to you.
01:07:35We look forward to seeing your creations.
01:07:37And good luck.
01:08:00So,
01:08:26stop arranging.
01:08:28We will have a five-minute break before we continue.
01:08:31Ladybug.
01:08:34Lori, you made it.
01:08:36I got cleared just in time.
01:08:38How are you doing?
01:08:39Not, not great.
01:08:40It's not coming together like I want it to.
01:08:42And the clock is ticking down.
01:08:44And it's okay.
01:08:45Just close your eyes.
01:08:47Just breathe.
01:08:48And I want you to think about the five principles.
01:08:51Harmony, contrast, purpose, balance, love.
01:08:57Okay, I'm, I'm gonna be okay.
01:09:07The halfway break is over.
01:09:08The competition is back on.
01:09:10Okay, I gotta get back to work.
01:09:13I will make you proud.
01:09:15You will.
01:09:27Five, four, three, two, one.
01:09:57And third place goes to Lacey Williams.
01:10:19We are down to our top two finalists.
01:10:22The judges would like to recognize the work
01:10:25of Constance Hughes and Amanda Raymond.
01:10:35The judges have collectively decided that this has been the closest margin
01:10:39that we've ever seen.
01:10:42But the winner of this year's Easter competition is...
01:10:55The winner is...
01:11:01Constance Hughes.
01:11:08Which makes newcomer Amanda Raymond our runner-up.
01:11:13Congratulations to all our participants and happy Easter weekend.
01:11:25I tried.
01:11:28Sorry.
01:11:30You're apologizing?
01:11:32Can you imagine the look on your father's face if he saw what you accomplished today?
01:11:37He'd be over the moon.
01:11:39Now that's the truth.
01:11:42Oh, he left.
01:11:43Big day tomorrow.
01:11:47Lori, I just wanted to say thank you for teaching me the five principles.
01:11:53I realized that they're all things that I've been missing in my own life.
01:11:58You've given me a renewed sense of purpose on Easter.
01:12:04That's the most important lesson of all.
01:12:14Congratulations.
01:12:16It's really beautiful.
01:12:19We're having an Easter brunch at the farm tomorrow.
01:12:23Um, we wanted to invite you.
01:12:25It's sort of a final send-off.
01:12:29I'm not sure that I can, but I really appreciate the invitation.
01:12:33It would mean so much to me if you could make it.
01:12:36We'll see.
01:12:40Thank you for the sunflower.
01:12:43You're welcome.
01:12:46Happy Easter to both of you.
01:12:48Happy Easter.
01:12:49Happy Easter.
01:13:03Warm weather on an Easter Sunday.
01:13:05It doesn't get much better than that.
01:13:07It's just wonderful to see the best version of my daughter back.
01:13:10Joyful and hopeful.
01:13:14You're my mom.
01:13:15You have to say that.
01:13:16Come on.
01:13:19Come on.
01:13:33Dad did so many of these for other people, and we never did one for him.
01:13:39Thank you for organizing this.
01:13:42Oh, it wasn't just me.
01:13:44It wasn't?
01:13:46No.
01:13:47Pastor Tarek called me and asked if it was okay.
01:14:10I'm gonna go get our seats.
01:14:12Amanda.
01:14:14Pastor.
01:14:16I'm sorry.
01:14:25On this Easter Sunday, there is just one more fruit of the Holy Spirit left to talk about.
01:14:35Love.
01:14:37Today, it's about a resurrection, and in that resurrection, love wins.
01:14:46You see, God loves all of us.
01:14:50After all, we are made in His image.
01:14:58And yet, I realize I haven't been completely open about my own journey.
01:15:11God places people in our lives for a reason.
01:15:14Someone very special in my own life taught me the importance of being who God created me to be.
01:15:27Before God's path led me here,
01:15:32I was involved in a terrible rock climbing accident.
01:15:37It was a moment that irrevocably changed several lives, mine included,
01:15:41and though I was lucky enough to have forgiveness from those around me,
01:15:46I was unable to find it in my heart to forgive myself.
01:15:55But today, in the spirit of the resurrection, I forgive myself.
01:16:05And I'm committed to embracing who He created me to be,
01:16:09including my love for rock climbing, a gift from God.
01:16:14You see, our relationship with God is rooted in love and forgiveness.
01:16:20And just as God forgives us, we too must learn to forgive each other and ourselves.
01:16:30And after all, forgiveness is the purest expression of love.
01:16:43So on this Easter Sunday, let us walk this path of love together. Amen.
01:17:15I'll get it.
01:17:16Making up for a late bloom.
01:17:22Hi.
01:17:24Happy Easter.
01:17:25Happy Easter.
01:17:28Listen, I just want to let you know how much it meant to me,
01:17:32seeing your face at church this morning. It really warmed my heart.
01:17:37And congratulations, by the way, on yesterday.
01:17:41Thank you. I couldn't save the farm, but I did my best.
01:17:48I'm proud of you.
01:17:51And I'm proud of you for showing the church your authentic self. It took a lot.
01:17:59I'm going to miss you.
01:18:02Miss me?
01:18:04Yeah. Aren't you taking the job?
01:18:07Turn it down.
01:18:08Why?
01:18:08Because there's something here, something special with you, with us.
01:18:18And I feel like it's just begun. And I can't wait to see where it goes, grows, or blooms.
01:18:27Okay, I'll stop. That is, of course, if you're open to it.
01:18:34If you're open to it.
01:18:37Constance.
01:18:39Constance.
01:18:41You made it.
01:18:41I did.
01:18:42Come inside. I can give you a tour.
01:18:49Come in.
01:18:59I have to do it.
01:19:01Yes.
01:19:02Thank you, Loretta.
01:19:04And I just have to say, I'm so sorry. Please forgive me.
01:19:10We both played an equal part, Constance, so I ask of you the same thing.
01:19:25I have an announcement.
01:19:27This is such a beautiful farm, run by a beautiful family.
01:19:32And Amanda, you are the most talented young farmer, well, now, farmer and florist that I've ever seen.
01:19:42And I might have won first place in the eyes of the judges, but you won first place in my eyes.
01:19:51And I would love nothing more than to have you come to me and say,
01:19:55and I would love nothing more than to pass the prize money to you.
01:20:05Oh, my gosh.
01:20:07I don't know what to say.
01:20:09You don't have to say anything. You deserved it.
01:20:13I just ask that you name the sunflower section on the farm after me and Lori.
01:20:22It would be an honor.
01:20:25Oh, you're welcome. Thank you so, so much.
01:20:33What incredible timing.
01:20:35So this $20,000, it would be enough to tide us over until the bloom comes in.
01:20:41And I was thinking that in order for us not to be in this position again,
01:20:48how would you feel about the Raymond Family Farm transitioning into a one-stop wedding venue?
01:20:57I love that idea, Amanda.
01:20:59I have always wanted to bake wedding cakes.
01:21:03Weddings are beautiful.
01:21:04I volunteer to officiate.
01:21:06Oh, and I can help with the arrangements as long as my assistant here is available.
01:21:10Oh, my assistant, how you haven't changed one bit.
01:21:18Oh.
01:21:20Yay.
01:21:21Okay.
01:21:23All right.
01:21:25Well, dig in, everyone.
01:21:33Happy Easter, Dad.
01:21:34Are the flowers part of the whole wedding setup?
01:21:49That's funny you ask.
