Finning Chesterfield engineers complete machine rebuild for Smith Construction

00:00My name is Russell Smith and the company I'm from is Smith Construction from Lincolnshire.

00:30The process of the rebuild has been very easy for us, for me in particular, the machine

00:44was inspected, we got the price so we knew exactly what was going to be done, bringing

00:49the machine in, watching them strip it down, it's so great to see the sort of quality,

00:55to know that you get a quality build by the manufacturer with a guarantee, it's an absolutely

01:01spot on idea really.

01:02What surprised me is how fantastic it looks at the end, compared to how it looked when

01:08it looked very tired when it came in off the back of our low loader coming here, it looked

01:13like it was quite tired and standing next to this today it's just like we've bought

01:19a new one all over again and I'm absolutely amazed at what they've managed to do with it.

01:25Because we use machines on sort of easier work and low hours, this particular machine

01:35has only done about 8,700 hours in the 16 years that we've owned it, it's not cost

01:42effective for us to just renew something over that period of time and then when the idea

01:48of this rebuild came up we thought that was a more sustainable idea for us, more cost

01:52effective and we'll get another 10 years life out of the machine without having to

01:57go new again.
