00:00Welcome back everyone.
00:05It is Amelia.
00:06I hope you are fine.
00:07The Boys Season 4, Episode 7, Director Katrina McKenzie explains how the real starlight can
00:13be identified after that big soup reveal.
00:16Prime Video's hit superhero satire returned for Season 4 last month, continuing Billy
00:21Butcher's Carl Urban quest against Wharton Homelander, Anthony Starr.
00:26The Boys Season 4, Episode 7, introduces a new, shapeshifting soup into the equation
00:31as a titular group investigates the plot to kill President's singer, Jim Beaver.
00:36The episode ends with a surprise reveal that this new character has taken the form of starlight
00:41with the real Annie held hostage in a mysterious location.
00:45In a recent interview with Screen Rant, McKenzie reveals that there are some subtle signs audiences
00:50can look for to identify the imposter starlight, who she dubs, The Shifter.
00:55According to the director, the imposter starlight moves a little more robotically than the real
01:00one.
01:01The Boys' mission to stop the assassination of President's singer was already shaping
01:05up to be a major challenge, but the introduction of The Shifter means they'll have no idea
01:10who to actually look for.
01:12Using her powers, the assassin can easily avoid security and get as close as she needs
01:17in order to accomplish the deed.
01:19While The Shifter's powers can be used to get close to the President, they can also,
01:24be used to pin the blame on others in The Boys' cast of characters.
01:28The end of The Boys' season 4 episode 7 teases that The Shifter will be pinning the blame
01:33for the assassination directly on Starlight.
01:35The war between those who support Starlight and her ideals and those who support Homelander
01:40has been a major part of season 4 thus far, and pinning the assassination of the President
01:46on Starlight's camp would be an incredibly effective way of vilifying them.
01:50Homelander's opposition from regular American citizens would essentially disappear.
01:55If the plot to assassinate the President works, it sets up a very intense story in The Boys'
02:00season 5, which is confirmed to be the show's last.
02:03Butcher, Hughie, Jack Quaid, M.M., Lars Alonso, and the rest of the team could potentially
02:08be implicated in the assassination as well, making all of them the most wanted people
02:13in America and making it a lot easier for Homelander to justify killing them.
02:18It remains to be seen how events will play in The Boys' season 4 final, but The Shifter
02:23evidently makes things a lot more complicated.
