00:00The fourth and final game of a quadruple header and quarterfinal action over in Paris.
00:10The US booked as a 26 and a half point favorite against Brazil and they looked the part of
00:16a 26 and a half point favorite in the hunt for a fifth consecutive gold medal, 122-87,
00:23a 35 point win over the Brazilians.
00:26All 12 guys played for the Americans, all 12 guys scored, six in double figures.
00:32There is so much to like out of the quarterfinal performance yesterday, J.Y., out of Team USA.
00:38What impressed you the most?
00:39Honestly, Ben, the start, if you think about it, when you're the number one seed, right,
00:46and you see obviously the games, how they start out where, you know, with Greece being
00:50up almost 10 early on versus Germany.
00:54You look at Serbia being down big, you know, to Australia for the comeback.
00:58And then you see the team that you think you're going to compete against to get to gold, Canada
01:02getting knocked off.
01:03As a coach, you're Steve Kerr, you look at the guys and say, guys, it's a 40-minute game.
01:09We don't want to play around.
01:10So I thought their start, Ben, was absolutely fantastic.
01:14I also thought Stiles made fights and yes, they talk about the offensive rebounding percentage
01:20of Brazil.
01:21Well, that leads to two things.
01:23Number one, how do our big men play?
01:26And number two, can we get out in transition and run because of the fact of teams may crash
01:31the board?
01:32So Joel Embiid literally set the tone.
01:35A Joel Embiid that at times I thought looked disinterested, a Joel Embiid at times I thought
01:39looked out of shape.
01:40Well, he did not look like that in that first quarter.
01:43He got the team off and running and once they started, Ben, it didn't stop and honestly,
01:48it didn't matter who was on the floor.
01:52By the way, Coach, like what has changed here for us?
01:54And we've always thought Team USA was going to win the gold medal, certainly heavily favored
01:57now at the FanDuel Sports Bowl, but during the showcase, you had a victory against Australia
02:01by six points.
02:02South Sudan, you needed a late stop to beat them by one point.
02:05Germany, you beat them by four points.
02:07This team looks absolutely locked in and loaded.
02:10Did anything change or is it just a level of talent saying, you know what, now these
02:14games actually mean something, let's dig in?
02:17It's just a turn-on effect.
02:18I mean, you've seen it.
02:19You've seen it in every game, even the South Sudan game in that fourth quarter with that
02:23huge run.
02:24You looked at the second quarter versus Puerto Rico after being down.
02:28If they want to turn it on, there's nobody in the world that can stop us.
02:32Let's be honest.
02:33So, for me, you know, do we want to see more consistent play on our team?
02:38Absolutely.
02:39But I think getting Kevin Durant has helped.
02:41I think Steve Kerr, after the controversy in his first couple of games, settling into
02:45a rotation a little bit, guys know when they're coming in, they kind of know what their deal
02:50is.
02:51So, they're able to just play.
02:53And it's been really a joy to watch for a team that has shown, honestly, unselfish behavior
02:59offensively and when they want to grind your gears defensively.
03:04I know, and listen guys, I think I'm not mistaken, 15 plus points, they've won every game by.
03:09And here comes Serbia.
03:10Guys, I don't think it's going to be any different in that game either.
03:1417 plus in all four, now two and two against the spread, covering in the Olympic opener
03:20against Nikola Jokic and the Serbians, who Team USA will play in the semifinal tomorrow
03:26afternoon in Paris, and of course, a big cover yesterday against Brazil.
03:31J.Y., in this final minute, Devin Booker, the leading scorer yesterday for Team USA
03:36in all four games over in Paris, a different leading scorer for the United States.
03:42What have you made of the balance of the American squad so far?
03:46Find the hot guy.
03:47It was Booker early on, or Booker the game, it was Embiid early.
03:50You look at the way Anthony Edwards was, obviously, against Puerto Rico, you look at KD game one.
03:56Steve Kerr can literally roll out, guys, and the good thing about these guys is when someone's
04:01rolling, they're finding a way to get them the ball.
04:04It makes it extremely dangerous, because let's be honest, guys, all 11, I guess we can't
04:08say Halliburton, because he hasn't played enough, but all 11 guys can get hot at any
04:13point, and that's a good thing to have for the Americans.
