The idea of a joint European team is resurfacing in the run-up to the Paris Olympics, however its realisation raises more questions that it answers.

00:15Olympic Committee, which only allow flags from nation-states, it is unlikely.
00:20It was the case, for example, in Tokyo in 2021, where the Slovenian representative
00:30asked to parade the Slovenian delegation with a European flag, because they were at
00:38the head of the Presidency of the European Union at that time, it was refused by the
00:42EU.
00:47The European Union has always had a place for sports diplomacy, encouraging initiatives
00:52such as the joint organisation of competitions and the development of sports within the framework
00:57of Erasmus.
01:00However, founding a joint team is not in the best interests of the 27 nation-states, according
01:09to experts.
01:39The 2024 Summer Olympic Games will be hosted in Paris and will run until August 11.
