00:00Carlos Yulo started his talent in gymnastics when he was just a kid.
00:05Since then, he has been practicing until he is now a two-time Olympic gold medalist.
00:11Let's go back to his achievements before we get to the first news of Bon Aquino.
00:19In a simple tumbling in a playground in Manila,
00:22Carlos Yulo's long but successful gymnastics journey began.
00:29Then one day, a gymnast approached us.
00:37She told us, why don't you join the gymnastics?
00:41After passing the tryouts, he started training at the age of 7
00:46until he joined and won in various local gymnastics competitions,
00:51especially the national games.
00:53At the age of 13, he was adopted by a Japanese coach, Munehiro Kugimiya,
00:58and he flew to Japan to practice.
01:02In 2019, he became the first Filipino gymnast to win the 2019 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Germany
01:12and won two gold medals in the 30th Southeast Asian Games.
01:16These are just a few of the medals Carlos won from various international gymnastics competitions.
01:23Yulo said,
01:25I don't aim for medals in all competitions.
01:29What I aim for is to give my best performance.
01:33At the Tokyo Olympics, Yulo did not aim for a podium finish,
01:37but he was destined for victory at the Paris Olympics.
01:42Carlos' father was both nervous and happy when his son joined the men's floor exercise.
01:49I was happy and nervous.
01:52It was nerve-wracking to watch.
01:55Sometimes, when you're about to shoot, you have to practice stick landing.
