00:00Russell Dingwall, 200th appearance for Elgin City today and marked with a very memorable goal and a very memorable victory for Elgin. You must be delighted.
00:08Yeah, it's good obviously just for the boys first to get a win to start the season, a bit more positivity around the place this season.
00:15And obviously on a personal note to start my goal is good and in my 200th game, it's obviously a proud moment for me.
00:21Your top scorer last season with only seven goals but the team did not score more than two in a match and have done it on day one.
00:27Yeah, I know. We've seen that record floating around yesterday that I think it was 73 games or something and we've not scored two goals.
00:33So, to break that in the first game is a good start for the lads and hopefully kick on from here.
00:37Yeah, it's good obviously to spread the goals around and we haven't missed maybe four other chances.
00:42It should be goals today but that's what you want, creating chances. You know at some point they're going to go in the net for us.
00:48Yeah, we felt it obviously when the manager and Steph came in last season.
00:52It was our right up turn transitional period and we've done quite well under them last season.
00:58Obviously, it was still back against the wall that survival was our main target last year.
01:02But now we've had a good transfer window and hopefully we can kick on now.
01:06When you first made the move to Butter Briggs, could you have imagined 200 appearances under your belt?
01:10No, I was just a young boy coming from County full-time, didn't really know what I was doing.
01:15But yeah, I've been here now and it's a really good club. Everyone's taken well to me so I can't complain.
01:20Where does that goal stand amongst the 30-odd that you probably scored for the club?
01:24It was a good goal today, I can't complain. So yeah, it's right up there.
01:28Obviously, talk us through it really. You won possession in half way inside your own half?
01:33Yeah, to be fair, I was thinking as soon as I got it I was going to slide Dill. It was a two-on-one.
01:37It was a great run from him to be fair and the space just opened up for me. Good finish.
01:41You had a chance in the first half as well which was at the keeper.
01:45I forgot to put my feet on for that one.
01:48You're not going to get too greedy. The worst chance is from all areas of the park.
01:51But a flat start to the season?
01:53Yeah, a great start. Obviously, four goals. I think actually giving away two goals maybe flatters them a bit.
01:58I think we were dominant today in all aspects. So yeah, it's a good start and goal from here.
02:02So the key now is to maintain it. You don't win leagues and get promotions on day one of the season.
02:06It's all about consistency.
02:08That's what the gaffer said. It's just three points. It's only one game and it's up to us now to kick on and go again next week.
02:13You've got a competitive squad there now. You look at the bench and there's still one or two guys to come back in.
02:17So really, the eleven that have got the jerseys at the moment must know that the pressure's on them.
02:22Yeah, well good players that ain't playing today and you know that when you're playing you've got to do well.
02:27If not, you'll be watching the game next week. So it's good. That's what you want in a competitive team.
02:31Are you confident you can take this into Stirling next week and get more points on the board?
02:34Yeah, hopefully go down there. I think they actually turned it around late today to win.
02:37But yeah, hopefully go down there. We'll be on the front foot again and hopefully go down and get three points.
