A couple who bought a "mouldy" narrowboat on Facebook Marketplace and renovated it into their dream tiny home say it saves them £10k-a-year on rent.

00:00Hey I'm Nancy and that's my boyfriend Dale and just over three years ago in
00:05September 2020 we found a narrowboat on Facebook and decided we wanted to make
00:10her home. The boat was called Nature's Bounty and was in a marina in Devizes
00:15near Bath. We weren't actually allowed to visit the marina because we were in the
00:19height of lockdown and we were from out of the area so decided to take the plunge
00:23and just buy the boat without ever seeing it in the flesh. We did however
00:27get the boat out of the water to get a survey and make sure there were no major
00:31issues. Then in November got to meet her for the first time and yes it was love
00:38at first sight like literally L-O-V-E. Then after a freak flood caused by the
00:45marina doing work on her and a total strip of the boat right down to the bare
00:49still we'd finally done it. Well all we had was a toilet, a camping stove and a
00:55fire but still we'd done it. A fresh lick of paint and a few tip runs later we
00:59were desperate to get back closer to London so that we could start making
01:03this boat a home. Except we'd never driven a 50-foot boat before or any boat
01:08for that matter. After endless YouTube videos and a bit of Dutch courage we set
01:13sail on the 30th of April 2021. We knocked our chimney off on the bridge as
01:18we left the marina. But 120 locks, 136 miles and lots of tears and lots of
01:25laughter later we arrived in London a month later on my birthday the 29th of
01:32May. I obviously have a massive backlog of all the footage from our journey from
01:37Devises to London and the boat now named the Pig Boat is transformed and stunning
01:45if I do say so myself. It was a life-changing decision and although I
01:48feel so blessed it hasn't always been easy.
