00:49querying invoices in December 2021 Bird had placed 30 orders for goods like smartphones
00:57totalling £483,523 to be delivered to his or linked addresses.
01:05The court also heard he and another man bought £160 of tobacco, alcohol, scratch cards and
01:11snacks from Eastfield service station with bank cards that had been stolen 40 minutes earlier
01:17in a burglary on March 23rd this year.
01:20He was arrested the next day with mobile phones that were also stolen in the raid.
01:25The court heard he has five previous convictions for 15 offences.

01:36the question how he finds himself sat in the dock today.
01:40The reason is not an excuse but an explanation he said describing how the pandemic affected
01:46Bird in a severe way.
01:48Previously he had travelled around the world to meet new clients but struggled with the
01:52isolation and boredom of lockdown and became addicted to online gambling.
01:57He says he would stay up for days on end and he describes that he kind of went mad,

02:11The Audi e-tron was taken from outside an address on Ashfield Rise,
02:16Sutton after keys, bank cards and mobile phones were stolen in a burglary at 1.50am on March 23rd,
02:24Nottingham Crown Court was told.
02:26Jamie Hill accelerated away when police saw him driving the Audi on Hamilton Road, Sutton
02:32and he reached speeds of 70mph in a 30mph zone as he fled through an industrial estate.
02:39The court heard he crossed junctions blindly and without reducing his speed before bailing
02:45out on Leibrooks Avenue where he was found with the assistance of a police dog.
02:50He then told officers he was likely to collapse because of epilepsy.
02:54Within 40 minutes of the burglary two other men used the bank cards to buy £160 of tobacco,
03:01alcohol, scratch cards and snacks at Eastfield service station.
03:05The court heard Hill has 28 previous convictions for 60 offences.
