00:00I have to say there are one or two questions.
00:03Was this guy being monitored by the security services?
00:07Some reports say he was, others less sure.
00:11The police say it's a non-terror incident.
00:14Just as they said the stabbing of an army lieutenant colonel in uniform
00:18on the streets of Kent the other day was a non-terror incident.
00:22I just wonder whether the truth is being withheld from us.
00:27I don't know the answer to that.
00:29But I think it is a fair and legitimate question.
00:33Let's talk to Brendan Cox, founder of Better Together.
00:36His wife, the Labour MP Jo Cox, was murdered in 2016
00:40by a far-right terrorist.
00:42Brendan, good morning.
00:44Good morning.
00:45What is your response to an elected MP posing that sort of question?
00:51Before I answer that, I think where our focus should be
00:55is in thinking about Elsie and Alice and Bibi and their families
01:00and the eight other kids who are still in hospital and recovering.
01:05Instead, what we are talking about today is those horrific scenes
01:11that you've just been describing, the attack on the mosque,
01:14the incitement of hatred.
01:17Yes, it's been done, as you were just hearing from Hope Not Hate,
01:21it's been done by far-right extremists on the fringe.
01:25But the willingness of supposedly mainstream politicians,
01:29somebody like Nigel Farage, to put out that kind of insinuation,
01:36that line of, you know, is the truth being withheld from us?
01:40Do we not know some of the answers to this, which we certainly don't,
01:43but is the truth being withheld from us?
01:45Is this person being monitored?
01:47Some people say they are.
01:48It's right out of the Trump playbook.
01:50And in my view, it makes Nigel Farage nothing better
01:54than a Tommy Robinson in a suit.
01:56It is beyond the pale to use a moment like this
02:00to spread your narrative and to spread your hatred.
02:03And we saw the results on Southport Streets last night.
