00:00Hello, I'm Digital Reporter Matthew for the Lancashire Post and I'm bringing you an update on a farm fire around Salisbury this morning.
00:09Ten fire engines went to the scene this morning on farmland off Preston New Road, which led to speed restrictions on the M6 and delays on the A59 towards Blackburn.
00:23Lancashire Fire Service said they were called at 5.54am. Ten fire engines from Preston, Bamber Bridge, Blackburn, Leyland, Charlie, Darwin, Nelson, Penrith and the aerial ladder platform from Preston and the aerial ladder platform from Highamburn were called to the scene.
00:37Now we're going to take you to the scene with Fire Chief Liam Wilson who's going to give us an update on the fire and its aftermath.
00:46Good morning, my name's Liam Wilson, I'm a Group Manager for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service.
00:52So earlier on this morning we attended an incident at Chapel Church House Farm at Salisbury.
01:00Initial attendance was ten pumping appliances and then two aerial ladder platforms and a high volume pump.
01:10We have worked continuously for the duration of this morning alongside partners to firstly extinguish the fire, to control and extinguish the fire and then secondly to obviously mitigate the impacts upon the local community.
01:26We are aware of the road closure affecting the A59 where we have got a water supply from a high volume pump down at the Brockholes Nature Reserve.
01:37What we are looking to do is, alongside our partners, to minimise that disruption.
01:42We're working continuously and we're working hard in order to extinguish the fire and then, as I say, mitigate the effects.
01:51We are having some really good success in that respect and we will be looking in the next 30 minutes or so to reduce the pumping appliances to six, maintaining the aerial ladders at two aerial ladder platforms.
02:06What I would like to say is obviously thank you to everybody in the local community in respect of the support and in respect of their patience for the traffic management plans that were implemented with the multi-agency partners this morning.
02:22We will continue to minimise that impact to the local community for the duration of the day.
02:28We are envisaging that firefighting operations will continue for effectively the rest of today as a minimum and then we'll be looking at further reducing the appliances and the resources that are in attendance.
