It’s officially that time of year and the Dallas Cowboys are heading off to training camp. The Cowboys will be departing from Dallas and heading for Oxnard California on Tuesday. They will not hit the practice field until Thursday of this week, pads will be added in a few days.

Here are some key things to look out for ahead of training camp.

CeeDee Lamb has yet to get a new contract from the Dallas Cowboys as he enters his fifth year in the NFL. The veteran wide receiver missed all of OTA’s and minicamp and the question now is will he miss training camp? If he misses camp he will be fined daily just like guard Zack Martin was a year ago. Quarterback Dak Prescott and linebacker Micah Parsons are looking for new contracts as well but are both said to be reporting for camp on Tuesday.
Ezekiel Elliott is back! Elliott is back after playing one year with the Patriots. It looks like he is a strong favorite to be the starting running back as the former starter Tony Pollard signed with Tennessee this off season. Elliott and Pollard shared snaps in 2022 before Elliott was released and later picked up by New England. Look out for no. 15 this training camp. It’s a new number for Elliott so will the Cowboys get a newer, better version of Zeke?
Young and eager! The Cowboys are expecting big things out of their younger players this season. Early in the off season owner and GM Jerry Jones stated that Dallas was going to hold off on signing vets in free agency and give the younger guys the opportunity to prove themselves. Those players being – Jalen Tolbert, Sam Williams, Mazi Smith, Jalen Brooks, Demarvion Overshown, and Juanyeh Thomas.
The offensive line looks different this year for Dak Prescott. Prescott will have to play this year with a new center and a new left tackle. Without Cowboys vet Tyron Smith the first round draft pick Tyler Guyton is going to try and fill that role. It will be interesting to see how he does at his first training camp. At center the third round draft pick Cooper Beebe will be looking to fill that role.
New defense in Dallas. Dan Quinn is off to the races with Washington and Mike Zimmer is now the new defensive coordinator in Dallas. Will Zimmer be able to provide what Dallas needs on defense to be successful this year? With Trevon Diggs back on the field and a power source like Parsons it will be interesting to see what Zimmer puts together.
