00:00Hello there, my name's Alan Blateman from BBR Auctions, based at Elska Heritage Centre.
00:06I used to be a teacher and about 30 years ago I packed in to do a full-time job specialising in antique bottles pot lids.
00:14We've built a worldwide reputation, some of these bottles have gone up massively in value.
00:19The highest price previously for a Codds bottle patent with a marble in the neck was about £13,000 several years ago.
00:29Prices have rocketed since Covid and this one was estimated £12,000 to £15,000 and fierce competition at July Summer National at Elska.
00:39It went for £15,000, £18,000, £20,000, £22,000, £25,000, £27,000, £30,000, £32,000, £35,000, £37,000, £38,000.
00:49Staying in the UK to a serious English collector, the highest price ever paid for an English glass bottle.
