00:00:00Very good evening and welcome along to Allianz Stadion, we're in the Austrian capital of
00:00:08Vienna this evening for Milan's first pre-season friendly of the new campaign, Rapid Vienna
00:00:15are the opponents, 125 is a number which brings together both of these clubs, both founded
00:00:22in 1899, they have therefore celebrated their 125th birthdays this season and as such have
00:00:30decided to meet one another in a friendly.
00:00:34First look then at Paolo Fonseca's Rossoneri, the first of a series of summer friendlies
00:00:40for Davide Calabria et al.
00:00:54Home colours de rigueur this evening, Rapid in their iconic green and white and we're
00:01:00expecting them to line up in that shape there, 4-2-3-1, similar formation to the one that
00:01:07Milan will be operating in, it could easily morph into a 4-5-1, we expect it to do just
00:01:13that when they're out of possession.
00:01:19Not too many senior players on the pitch this evening for Milan but Davide Calabria is certainly
00:01:24one of them, he's skipper's this side as the club captain, when all eyes are drawn to the
00:01:31man wearing number 30, 17-year-old Mattia Liberale is included, he'll play as a number
00:01:3610 just off lone striker Lorenzo Colombo, an opportunity for Filippo Terraciano and
00:01:42Yassine Adli now wearing 94 having swapped it for 7 since the arrival of Alvaro Morata.
00:01:53Wonderful choreography there at Allianz Stadion, Milan runners-up in Serie A last season, up
00:02:01against the team that finished fourth in the Austrian Bundesliga and Rapid also were
00:02:06runners-up in their domestic cup, indeed their new campaign in the Austrian Cup begins very
00:02:13shortly as soon as the end of the month, just eight days away, a week tomorrow.
00:02:24There he is, Mattia Liberale, an opportunity to impress, the tender age of just 17.
00:02:52We're just waiting for the all-clear, which he's now got and we're up and running here
00:02:57in Vienna, first look at the new look Milan, Rosso Meri now under Paolo Fonsec, it's his
00:03:06first game in charge, it's not a competitive match but already an opportunity to see how
00:03:10much of his footballing philosophy the players have been able to take on board since he's
00:03:18been in situ, we have already heard from him when he addressed the media alongside
00:03:25Zlatan Brehbovic, press conference which was held at casa Milan as opposed to Milanello
00:03:31and lest we forget Milan have already played a friendly between the end of last season
00:03:36and the start of the upcoming campaign, as Sportiello looks long, easy gather in the
00:03:42end for Hedl, comes up nonetheless from Shaka Traore, Milan were in action on the other
00:03:49side of the world in Western Australia, Perth, that 5-2 defeat to Roma on the final day of
00:03:54May, that was Daniele Bonera taking charge of that one, he's now head coach of Milan
00:03:59Futuro, the under-23 side, Ciuquese driving into the box, he wanted an early penalty but
00:04:06Patrick Koscielnicki, referee immediately waved away the appeals of the Nigerian,
00:04:17certainly warrants a second look that because Ciuquese was doing what he does best, driving
00:04:24at opponents and almost prompted an early foul and a very swift penalty for Milan,
00:04:31Rapid will be a bit further ahead in terms of their fitness levels because their campaign
00:04:42is on the horizon, it actually starts with European endeavours because they finish fourth
00:04:48domestically last season, Rapid Vienna will take on Visva Krakow, the Polish side, five
00:04:54days from now qualifying round two in the Europa League for the second leg of that game
00:05:00here on the 1st of August, there's Paolo Fonseca, the new Milan head coach and has
00:05:09several difficult assignments on the horizon in terms of pre-season, three glamorous friendlies
00:05:15upcoming on US soil, Manchester City next Sunday, that's at Yankee Stadium, we get a
00:05:24look at Robert Klaus as well, a German in charge of Rapid, they're on the attack now,

00:06:35holidays incidentally, having gone deep at Euro 2024,
00:06:50France defeated by Spain, who went on to win the competition, and Alvaro Morata
00:07:02will be joining as well, having been recruited from Atletico Madrid, that's why this man on the
00:07:07ball Yassine Adli is no longer wearing 70, now wears 94, it's the postcode of his hometown in
00:07:13France, Vitry-sur-Seine, Gabbia, good turnout here given it is Saturday in late July, there are
00:07:35plenty of competing activities in the summer months, plenty have come here to cast their
00:07:43eyes over Milan, I'm sure there's plenty of local interest as well from the Viennese,
00:08:13Csukwese, there's a player down off the ball there, it was Aue who was forced

00:08:39still a teenager, more than happy to put himself about,

00:08:52both players were part of the Italy under-17 side that became European champions at the
00:08:57back end of last season, Camarda now with the U19s, Liberale playing first team football here
00:09:03under Paulo Fonseca, who immediately wants to have a look at this exciting young talent,
00:09:10if you're good enough, you're old enough, seems to be the message from Portuguese tactician,
00:09:21wearing sixes Royale, this is Svetkevic under pressure, nearly turned into trouble there with
00:09:30Lorenzo Colombo hounding him, interesting to see whether Colombo stays with Milan this season,
00:09:36or whether he's destined for another loan after spells with Lecce and Monza, here come Rapid,
00:09:44there's a man free in the middle and the cutback, sees them strike the post, big opportunity there,
00:09:50not taken, mercifully for Milan, it was Seidel who struck the foot of the post,
00:09:56that's a relief for Marcos Portiello and Milan there, could have easily trailed, it's far too

00:14:18so it will take time, important thing is that Milan look right, come their
00:14:25first competitive match of the season, that will come against Torino, third week of August,
00:14:34next up is Manchester City, it's a Yankee stadium, then after that a couple more glamour
00:14:42friendlies against two Spanish giants, Real Madrid at Soldier Field in Chicago,
00:14:47Barcelona at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland,
00:14:55and finally, what will be again an emotional occasion,
00:14:59the game against Monza, the Silvio Berlusconi trophy,
00:15:03but the Rossoneri beginning to settle now, having had that early scare,

00:16:32what a low percentage ball that, outside of the boot, a pitch towards Colombo,
00:16:39the difficulty here is, as a 17-year-old, you get a chance with the first team,
00:16:44the best thing you can do in many ways, is just keep it simple, but there is that tendency to try
00:16:49and play the Hollywood passes, to try and show a bit of flair, but if he has been included,
00:16:55it's because Paulo Fonseca knows what he's capable of, doesn't necessarily need to showcase
00:17:00all of that tonight, Rapid building out well from the back here, they're looking sharp and
00:17:08they're in behind again here, they can square it for the opening goal, it just needed a better ball
00:17:12and Belio would have had a tap in, and don't they know it too,

00:32:28new head coach wants to impart it's pre-season for all of us

00:32:38even those of us covering the team trying to build up to full fitness and
00:32:46peak of our powers don't want to peak too early no point winning five pre-season friendlies only
00:32:53to lose your first competitive match and players will be conscious of that as well
00:32:57but it is a chance especially for the forward players to get some goals under their belt

00:33:08and we haven't had a goal close as we've come at effort from matthias seidel off the foot of the
00:33:14post milan had an early shout for a penalty when chukwesa went down but they haven't drawn a save
