What does Joe Rothwell bring to Leeds United?
Transcript
00:00Rothwell in general, I think. It's a solid addition. Someone who went up with Sev Hampton last year, scored a few nice goals, looks to have good technique, brings something different to the midfield.
00:11It's not high octane, but then again, was Ilya Groev?
00:16No, he wasn't. That's a good point. My feeling was not an upgrade on Kamara and therefore they need another eight as well.
00:27That's still my feeling. I don't think they should go into the season with one very forward thinking eight and two sixes.
00:37I think they need two eights and two sixes. Obviously, they need to replace Archie at right back as well. They need to replace Archie twice.
00:44But a solid pickup, I think, from speaking to a few people. I spoke to Barry Douglas, who used to play at Leeds, obviously, and played with him at Blackburn Rovers.
00:56He said he was the quickest player he'd played with, with the ball at his feet.
01:04So not the quickest player sprinting. There's players who could beat him in a straight foot race.
01:09But with the ball at his feet, he was the quickest, sharpest player Barry Douglas had played with, which I thought was a really interesting way of putting it.
01:17He is very dribbly, isn't he? He is very good at carrying the ball. That's probably his main asset, his big strength, isn't it?
01:26So he's very different to Kamara. But I still think they need more.
01:32But it's a loan. It's not costing them a great deal at all. And it's a little bit more, well, I say strength in depth.
01:42They've since sold Kamara, so it's kind of cancelled out any depth there might have been.
01:47But it's a building block on the way to greater depth.
