00:10In a post on Xtoday, Zaid addressed UMNO Deputy President Mohammad Hassan and Vice President

00:15Johari Ghani's comments about the Speaker's decision not to vacate the seats held by six

00:20former Bursatu MPs.

00:23He said no law or regulation can replace ethical conduct and that the proper functioning of

00:27government institutions can only happen when officials are honourable and honest in discharging

00:32their duties and responsibilities.

00:35Zaid said it was about time for UMNO to behave like Sarawak and put its foot down on matters

00:40important to the country.

00:43He added that if UMNO feels strongly about the issue, the Madani leadership will have

00:46no choice but to allow Parliament to elect another Speaker.

00:51Johari Abdul has received flak from both civil society and politicians for his decision,

00:55with Bursatu President Muhyiddin Yassin saying the disappointing move clearly went against

00:59the written and implied provisions of Article 49A sub 3 of the federal constitution.
