Sheffield Wednesday are in camp at England's St. George's Park

00:00Hello, a new season, the first video with the two of us on here. There won't be many of them,

00:05as you're leaving me. But we are at St George's Park, you can't quite see it here,

00:11the very plush surroundings, obviously the FA training headquarters. We watched Sheffield

00:18Wednesday train this morning, Joe. Fair to say there's a whiff of optimism in the air.

00:23Certainly is. We had Josh Winder saying that they want to get promoted straight away, which is,

00:29it's nice to see. Obviously, I think the optimism has been growing outside of the

00:34walls of the club, haven't they, with all the signs that have been made, with the work that's

00:37been done. And it is nice to see that that is internal as well. You can see just the way that

00:43they are, that there's a good atmosphere about the place and they seem to be in a good space

00:50at the moment. And the new signings, look, no footballer's ever going to stand there and say

00:56the new signings look terrible. But there was a feeling talking to Josh, we've just spoken to

01:02Jamal Lowe, who's obviously one of that figure. There was a real earnest sort of sense about them

01:08that they are, they are impressing. They are coming in and doing the thing and they looked

01:11sharp today as well. Yeah, yeah, they did. And I think there's been a lot made about

01:15sort of when they've come in as well. You know, they've been given a real time to gel,

01:19other than last season, you look back and it was all very sort of all over the place and they came

01:24in late. Whereas now you're, you're looking at almost double figures by the time they've come

01:29here. You know, we understand there's more coming as well. Danny's made no bones about that. He

01:35wants more in the door and yeah, it does feel like they are doing well and not just in terms

01:40of their ability on the football pitch either. You know, Josh was saying how well they've all

01:44settled in. Yeah, that's important as well. And like I say, there is a good feeling around the

01:49place. Very different to this time last year. I didn't take part in the pre-season trip to

01:56Spain, wasn't it? You did and it's something you've been saying all day that this feels

02:00completely different. Yeah, yeah. I mean, aside from the fact it's not 37 degrees as well.

02:06It is raining. The rain is coming down here at St George's Park now.

02:08But no, yeah, it's completely different. It's a completely different atmosphere,

02:13different personnel even. You know, we went away last summer and, you know, at this point,

02:18it was just full of kids, you know, loads of players. As Josh was saying earlier,

02:22you knew they weren't going to be part of the squad. You know, they were there to make up the

02:25numbers. A lot of them have since left the club. It was to that extent. Whereas now,

02:31you're looking out on that pitch today and you go in, this squad already looks like it could do,

02:37you know, substantially better than what they did last season. And that's a really nice position

02:41to be in. We've had a lovely day. We've spoken, as I said, to Josh Windass, Jamal Lowe,

02:47and, of course, Danny Royal. There's plenty to come in the next days and weeks as we build up

02:53to that trip to Germany slash Austria. Hoping to be there. More on that later.
