Businesses say clients, staff and suppliers will desert them after the area was blanketed with double yellow lines and three quarters of parking spaces were axed.
The authority says the measures will improve access and unloading for vehicles by removing parking on junctions. They will also improve ‘walking, cycling, wheeling and public transport facilities’.
But more than 3,000 have signed a petition against the scheme. It was launched by Daisy and Charlotte White, of SIS Beauty on Mowbray Street.

00:00Hi, I'm Daisy and I'm Charlotte and we're from CIS Beauty at Kellam Island.
00:04We're located on Mowbray Street in Neeps End in Sheffield. We're absolutely
00:10fuming about the parking restrictions at Kellam Island with all the double
00:14yellow lines. It's really affecting our business and we're worried about the
00:17future. It's taking clients nearly half an hour to park every time. We've got
00:21clients setting off an hour before their appointment to make sure they're giving
00:25themselves plenty of time to park. It's absolutely ridiculous. This will really
00:29make businesses struggle at Kellam Island and Neeps End and we need all the
00:33help that we can get with our petition. Thank you.
01:00Kellam Island and Neeps End has become extremely buzzing and it's all based on
01:12small independent businesses. If this carries on then everyone's going to end
01:16up going out of business. We've moved here recently in November and expanded
01:21our business and we've got more staff and this is a really worrying time for
01:24us as a business.
01:29Thank you.
