00:00The Predator left his trophy, but the trophy left his mark.
00:04Here's a look at the neck of toys Prey, the ultimate bare-blood feral predator.
00:30This 7-inch scale action figure is detailed to depict the feral predator's appearance after winning the fight against the bear.
00:42Drenched in blood after the brutal brawl, the cloaked predator includes masked magnetic backpack,
00:47collapsed and extended spear parts, gauntlet blades, interchangeable mandibles, and hands.
00:52Well, I guess any plans for hibernating got scrapped the moment he picked a fight with a predator.
00:56Just before we get a closer look at the bare-blood soaked feral predator,
00:59I'd like to thank the folks over at Neck of Toys that did provide the sample we could have a look at.
01:03This figure is available right now, although the scarcity of this guy.
01:06I've seen this guy once in the wild, and that was it.
01:09The Predator is going to be using, by the way, the same body as the originally looked at feral predator.
01:13I'll be bringing him in more in a moment, but first the tape measure is going to tell us that the bare-soaked blood predator
01:18is going to stand at about eight and a quarter inches in height, or the figure is about 22 centimeters tall.
01:23Other than being soaked in crimson, it literally is, though, the same feral predator that we've already gotten before,
01:28which was a fantastic figure.
01:30Showing you the two side-by-side comparisons, the only thing that's different, though, is the mandible placement on the front.
01:35This one kind of comes out of the box, though, with his open mandibles fully extended,
01:39while this one is a little bit more compact.
01:41The figure's, though, body are going to be exactly the same.
01:44The only thing, though, that's also different, other than the cosmetic changes,
01:47is that the newer blood-soaked predator loses a little bit of the accessory count.
01:51Yeah, this predator doesn't get as much in the way of accessories,
01:54but though you could make the argument at the time that he's trading blows with a bear,
01:57we don't really get the chance to see any of his other weapons anyways.
02:00So things like his sacrifices, for example, if you compare it with the original feral predator,
02:04that first figure would have got released with a crossbow.
02:07It doesn't have it.
02:08Nor does this version come included with either version of the shield,
02:11the folded up or the extended out.
02:13Both of them would have normally attached onto his forearms.
02:15It doesn't have those either.
02:17Funny, though, enough also that the figure comes included with four hands,
02:20and two hands already on his forearms.
02:22So that gives us a total of six.
02:24If you, though, look at the tray of hands,
02:26which instead of actually just showing you the individual hands,
02:28I just wanted to pull out the tray that came included with the original feral predator,
02:31you'll notice, if you count these off, he actually comes included with eight hands.
02:35So he has to lose two extra hands.
02:37Not really sure why they chose not just to include all the eight hands.
02:40What he does, though, have, let's talk at least about the things that the figure does have.
02:44He has, like, for example, his shield, or his shield, his spear.
02:48His spear is no different, really, than the spear that we got before.
02:51Obviously, instead of painting it in the dark gunmetal gray
02:54with some additional accents there of the copper color,
02:56they basically just stained it from head to toe,
02:59or top of the point to the bottom of the end of it,
03:01all here in a very muddy-looking red.
03:04Now, you could also, by the way that he's got this,
03:07he would have stored this on the back of his body.
03:09So, of course, as he's basically lifting up his trophy,
03:12the blood of the bear is dripping down the Predator.
03:14So everything that basically would have been in contact with that shower of blood
03:17would also have been soaked.
03:19If you remember, he stores this on the back of his body.
03:22He also comes included with a couple of S-hooks for that.
03:24The original Predator, if I can actually pick up one of these S-hooks,
03:27I don't want to lose these, whatever I do.
03:29The original ones that would have come included would have all been black.
03:32Because they, of course, wanted to match this with the colors of the clear,
03:35well, that's a lot of Cs,
03:37they molded this instead in clear plastic.
03:39That would be, I would imagine right away, a big no-no.
03:41Because if you look to put this on the back of the figure's body,
03:44I'll do it with one.
03:46What you'll do is you'll take one end of the S-hook
03:49and you latch it basically on the top piece of his loincloth, just like that.
03:53Then you'll take yourself the spear
03:56and you'll just hook that in place like this.
03:58So, again, as the bear is basically running the blood down
04:01all the back of the body and the front of the body of the feral Predator,
04:04everything would have been covered in blood.
04:06So you could make the justified reasons that, yes, this would also be...
04:09Realistically, the S-hook would have also, I would imagine, been done in red.
04:13They just decided instead to do this in clear.
04:16That clip, I'm sure, is going to break sooner or later.
04:19Now, he does also come with another variation,
04:21if I can give him the stand here,
04:23another variation of the spear, one that's fully extended.
04:26Funny enough, though, while it's folded up like this,
04:29it's still all red and covered in blood.
04:31The moment, though, he extends this out,
04:33you'll notice that the back end of it is still remaining clear.
04:36This basically consists of two parts.
04:38One end is actually the hole, and then the other end is the peg.
04:41And you'll obviously know just to line the two up, and that fits in place.
04:44Predator hopefully isn't going to fall any more times over this review.
04:47But basically, it plugs in place,
04:49and now the Predator has the extended version of the spear,
04:52which basically would have started like this, and now it looks like this.
04:55I guess it makes sense if this part is the only part that's in red,
04:58and then the rest of it would have been clear.
05:00I mean, it's not like really his entire body is all covered in blood.
05:03So there's obviously some places on the Predator, like his weapons, for example,
05:07that would have not had as much of the blood on it.
05:09So that probably would be one of the reasons why this part's clear,
05:12and only really this part is done in the red.
05:15The figure also comes included with his backpack.
05:17Actually, you know what? Before we do that, let's look at the gauntlet blades.
05:20The gauntlet blades, I'm going to successfully hold them up at least,
05:24are no different, really, than the original gauntlet blades,
05:27other than just being covered in blood.
05:29They attach also the exact same way, too.
05:31So if you look at the figure, located on the side of his arm,
05:34there's these little slots on the side.
05:36You just take the blades, and you just fit them up in the grooves.
05:39Although it's a little harder to kind of line things up,
05:41because everything is basically the same color.
05:43You just slot them in place.
05:45I want to make sure I've got these lined up properly.
05:47Slot them in place, and they stay in place.
05:50Although, again, it's kind of really hard,
05:52because everything is essentially the same color.
05:54He gets two of those.
05:56The figure also comes included with his backpack,
05:58which, like the original one...
06:00I'm going to bring the original one in so you guys can see.
06:02A lot more paint, obviously, got afforded for the original fair release.
06:05Justified, obviously, is the fact that this one now is covered in bare blood.
06:08But it works the exact same way.
06:10There's a magnet on the back.
06:12Now that this is cast here in clear plastic,
06:14you can see very obviously where the magnet now is in place.
06:16The magnet would have been here,
06:18but obviously it would have been all covered in paint.
06:20This attaches on the back of his body the exact same way.
06:23So there's a magnet sort of around the area here on the back of the feral predator,
06:27and that just latches in place.
06:29You don't even really have to look that far.
06:31You can kind of even feel the strong magnetic pull,
06:33and it just latches in place like that.
06:35So it's a good place to store that.
06:37You know, in a way, I kind of wished as well,
06:39like going back to the spear that we looked at earlier,
06:41that the spear could have attached in a similar fashion,
06:43but probably would have been a little too hard,
06:45close in quarters to the rest of the articulation on the figure.
06:47That probably would have been very difficult, I would imagine, to put a magnet there.
06:50It probably also would have been hard to conceal a small magnet on the inside of this.
06:53It's probably a whole lot easier to do inside of a backpack instead.
06:56The figure also comes included with a series of interchangeable hands.
07:00I know we've already discussed the fact that he only has
07:02not kind of, of course, the ones that he already has on the ends of his forearms,
07:05but he also comes with an extra four hands.
07:07So he loses, again, to go back to the tray,
07:09he does lose two additional hands.
07:11But I guess for really what he needs those hands for,
07:14he comes with one hand that's basically just a closed fist.
07:17He has, though, one hand that's a gripping hand.
07:20Actually, let me just go back to that.
07:22He comes with two hands that are closed fists.
07:24Nicely painted here in a very dark,
07:27very much like a bloody brown kind of red color.
07:30And I love that all of the red, by the way,
07:32and you'll see as we look more into the Predator,
07:34that all the red is kind of given this nice shiny finish.
07:37So it looks like the blood is still fresh.
07:40There's the hands.
07:42And then the figure also comes included with a gripping hand, too.
07:44Scratch that. He comes with two gripping hands.
07:46So obviously they're to hold the spear.
07:49Let's look at the alternate mandibles also as well that the figure comes included with.
07:53Now, I did kind of do things a little bit backwards here.
07:55I really should have had the original Feral Predator
07:57with the mandibles extended out
07:59just to match the one that we kind of start with here with this figure.
08:02As it certainly comes out of the packaging,
08:04I kind of wanted to keep the mandibles the exact same way.
08:06In hindsight, though, I probably should have used
08:08maybe the exact same ones that this figure starts with.
08:10So you guys can see there's a little bit of difference there.
08:13Or the fact that the figure's mandibles are exactly the same.
08:16So he gets three of them.
08:18And we start first, obviously, with the fiercest of the mandibles,
08:22the ones that are the fully opened up variety.
08:24He also comes with one that's not as opened,
08:27which is this one right here.
08:29And then he also comes with one that's completely closed.
08:32Of course, he does also have that shell on the front that serves as his helmet.
08:36This is also attached via magnets.
08:38So you just remove it.
08:40And as you can see when you attach it,
08:42it attaches fairly secure.
08:44I mean, it does survive the blizzard test.
08:46Ironically enough, though, as you probably could guess it,
08:48because this is also using the exact same body...
08:50Stay, don't go anywhere.
08:52Because it's also using the exact same body,
08:54we can bring back in the feral predator.
08:56So if you do want to kind of mix and match the parts...
08:58Ooh, what an ugly mug that is.
09:00You could, in theory, then also use this helmet
09:02if you want to give him just a little bit of blood,
09:04without the excessive amount that he has on this figure's body.
09:07You can also change it up that way.
09:09And really, too, you could also use the exact same mandibles
09:12because they attach the exact same way.
09:14These, by the way, you just take the mandibles
09:16and kind of have to wiggle them back and forth.
09:18They attach from the inside there.
09:20You can see just below what would normally have been his nasal cavity.
09:23I guess it still would be his nasal cavity.
09:25These just slot in place.
09:27Because he now has ones that are just only colored differently
09:29and molded the exact same,
09:31you could also use the bloody mandibles.
09:33And those just would slide inside,
09:35you know, all the way up there.
09:37There we go.
09:39So you can give him a little bit of a change.
09:41And, of course, you can also add the shell.
09:43This whole time, I know we're spending time
09:45to look at the original one and not spending nearly enough time
09:47to digest the one that we get here in the newer release.
09:49But you can see there it is using the exact same component pieces.
09:51So let's go ahead and remove this.
09:53These mandibles are always the hardest things to remove.
09:55There we go.
09:57Just pop that off.
09:59We'll put the Predator off to the side for one second.
10:01Going back, though, to the original,
10:03or the Predator that we're looking at in this review,
10:05it does lose, yes, admittingly, a lot of the finer details
10:07just because a lot of this isn't really so much relying on many colors of paint.
10:09It's only really relying on one or two.
10:11It starts what I'm guessing to be, like, more of a darker color.
10:13And then they basically have just soaked the front of it
10:15with all this very nice red.
10:17As I already mentioned, though,
10:19I really like the fact that they've given it a sheen to it
10:21so it does look like the blood is still fresh.
10:23And it's not even just the case that they took one color of red
10:25and just soaked the figure.
10:27As you can see, there's varying levels of that blood.
10:29So there's some slightly darker colors,
10:31a little bit lighter around it.
10:33So it looks like the blood is now starting to dry.
10:35Of course, the mandibles...
10:37Of course, the dreads on the back of his hair
10:39are exactly the same.
10:41No different, really, than the one that we saw
10:43with the original Feral Predator.
10:45So I'll just spin the figure around so you guys can see.
10:47Yeah, it solely really is cosmetic changes.
10:49And by no means, this isn't the first time
10:51that NEC has done this with a Predator figure.
10:53It sort of goes in line with one another
10:55that whenever they do release a Predator...
10:57And this more kind of relates to, like,
10:59the original Jungle Hunter.
11:01They would always then follow it up, usually,
11:03with a clear, cloaked version.
11:05There's also, like, the water ones as well
11:07that had the little electricity running through it as well.
11:09You know, speaking of that
11:11and how well of a job they've done here
11:13on the bear blood version of the Feral Predator...
11:15At the beginning of the fight,
11:17the Predator looks like he's losing
11:19and the bear's making several swipes at him.
11:21You can kind of see that while he's cloaked,
11:23there's these little patches of orange
11:25that start to sparkle on him.
11:27I think, if anything, if they want to get more mileage
11:29out of this mold, I would love them to also approach
11:31the idea of a bear attack Feral Predator.
11:33Keeping sort of, again, like the clear colors there
11:35for the plastic.
11:37Instead, though, of soaking it in red,
11:39there's these little splotches,
11:41these little parts of orange,
11:43just to look like the Predator's armor
11:45or his cloaking device, I would suppose,
11:47would probably start to malfunction.
11:49I think that would be a nice release as well.
11:51But going back, though, to this Predator,
11:53I don't want to get ahead of myself here.
11:55Like, the head sculpt is still good,
11:57but, you know, to be honest,
11:59it just loses a little of something
12:01just because there's very little in the way of paint
12:03and it's only really relying on one,
12:05maybe even two variations, two shades of red.
12:07And just hold on to either side,
12:09whatever you do, don't let go.
12:11And these just wiggle off.
12:13Now, I don't know, though,
12:15and I noticed with this specific figure,
12:17oh, I just dropped the backpack,
12:19I noticed with this one,
12:21this is the second time I've done this,
12:23these mandibles, keeping in mind
12:25these were the ones that came out of the packaging,
12:27I find are the hardest to remove.
12:29I don't suspect it has anything to do with the fact
12:31that these were already attached to the face
12:33and then they painted everything together.
12:35There's a lot of excess paint built up in there,
12:37sort of tightening, making everything super tight
12:39and a little harder to remove the mandibles.
12:41But they do still come free,
12:43but again, they're just a little bit more difficult.
12:45I mean, looking at the back, looking at the top,
12:47and looking at the front,
12:49it doesn't look like there's any built-up paint.
12:51It could just be the case that
12:53because this guy's been sitting in the packaging
12:55with those specific mandibles,
12:57probably one of the reasons why those ones
12:59were a little bit tighter.
13:01And again, we'll just pop in.
13:03Just to show you that you can still swap them out
13:05and you've got three to work with.
13:07Let's go ahead and put the shell back on.
13:09And also, just to show you guys,
13:11you could use the other one too,
13:13but it looks a little out of place
13:15that just so much of him is red everywhere else
13:17and then we decide to go with the cleaner shell helmet.
13:19So we'll just put that back in place.
13:21As for the rest of the figure's body,
13:23obviously it's going to be exactly the same.
13:25Just putting the figure down here for a second,
13:27going back to the well house here
13:29and bringing back in the original Predator.
13:31There we go.
13:35We'll leave the helmet off for right now.
13:37I just dropped it on the floor.
13:39Can I reach it from here?
13:41I don't think I can reach it from here.
13:43We'll have to come back to that.
13:45As for the figure's body, it's exactly the same.
13:47The gauntlets, though, don't change at all
13:49other than just cosmetically.
13:51And of course, the back of the figure's body
13:53are a little bit different as well.
13:55Different in the sense that
13:57one thing that this does lose a little bit as well
13:59is the little bones and stuff like that.
14:01He loses that, unfortunately, on this release.
14:03I'm not sure why they just decided not to have these included,
14:05but maybe it's just something that they decided
14:07it was just a lot easier.
14:09These were obviously separate pieces anyways.
14:11They figured it probably was just a lot easier just to cast.
14:13I mean, you would only be seeing, I'm sure,
14:15the figure from the front anyways.
14:17I don't think if you wanted to look back
14:19and nitpick all the fact that the figure's missing,
14:21like he doesn't have the shell on,
14:23he doesn't have the skull on this one, he doesn't have this,
14:25I think it's fine, really, the fact that the figure
14:27is missing anyways.
14:29For the figure's articulation, though,
14:31it's going to be exactly the same as the original one
14:33for obvious reasons.
14:35The head's going to be on balls, right?
14:37So it actually quite easily moves back and forth,
14:39no problems there.
14:41It looks up quite high, so even if you wanted
14:43to have him looking up at the bear,
14:45even though we don't really have a bear,
14:47would there be a chance that NECA may release
14:49a fallen bear as an accessory,
14:51as a standalone accessory?
14:53I think that's very unlikely.
14:55The head does look up quite high down,
14:57and of course you can also move it back and forth.
14:59There's a lot of freedom happening here
15:01with the ball joint that they gave this guy.
15:03Upper torso's going to also be on a ball joint,
15:05and the lower torso is also on a ball joint,
15:07the abdomen area here.
15:09I'm sure one of the questions you guys
15:11are probably also asking, too,
15:13is what kind of joints did they end up using?
15:15Well, they used it.
15:17It's a good and bad thing.
15:19The bad is the fact that you can see the joints,
15:21but the good thing is at least it prolongs
15:23the longevity of this figure.
15:25The original cult classic days of figures,
15:27they would have used clear plastic,
15:29very prone to snapping over time,
15:31and a lot of times those older cult classic figures
15:33I'm speaking from, for example,
15:35were always prone to losing limbs, arms, legs,
15:37just because that plastic would never hold.
15:39Using opaque plastic becomes very more obvious
15:41that you can see that it's there,
15:43but at least it prolongs the longevity
15:45of these figures.
15:47When it comes to his arms,
15:49obviously they can move out at 90 degrees.
15:51The feral predator does still have
15:53the possessed swivel in his bicep,
15:55a double hinge also in his elbow,
15:57and the hinge, even though, again,
15:59this is clear plastic,
16:01if you can actually see it,
16:03they're using a darker, almost black peg system
16:05to keep everything in place.
16:07Again, they're not using clear plastic at all
16:09for the part that's important.
16:11Elbow hinge, again, you've got that double hinge
16:13happening there, the hands rotate all the way around,
16:15the legs on the predator do split,
16:17and again, because they're using the clear plastic,
16:19the way everything has the inner workings of it,
16:21so where's the swivel right here?
16:23They're all using a white plastic on the inside,
16:25and also, too, you can see that, too,
16:27they're using the ball joints,
16:29that's also in white plastic.
16:31Nothing's going to be cracking at all in this guy.
16:33Forward and back motions on the legs,
16:35again, you've got that little swivel there
16:37on the top of the thigh, double hinge on the knee,
16:39and then, again, you've got your articulation.
16:41The only thing, unfortunately, is one thing
16:43that's carried over from the original predator
16:45is that when you get to the ankle,
16:47this wrap section right here,
16:49you can see how it drapes pretty low.
16:51It does cause a little more conflict
16:53when it gets to the ankle.
16:55If you want to have the ankle a little bit further forward,
16:57like this, you see it always tends to push
16:59the whole entire foot back down.
17:01That's one of the reasons why this guy
17:03has taken a couple of tumbles over the course of this review.
17:05All in all, though, again,
17:07this was one of those, I expected it to happen
17:09sooner rather than later.
17:11Whenever they do release a predator figure,
17:13especially a new mold, they tend to follow it up
17:15thereafter with a cloaked version of him.
17:17Mine is, obviously, the overlooked fact
17:19that I'm missing the helmet there on this one.
17:21Yet, obviously, they're just using
17:23the exact same bodies.
17:25Again, that's not a bad thing at all.
17:27It's a justified thing.
17:29NECA tends to be, in their defense,
17:31when they release these variant figures,
17:33it doesn't just come at,
17:35let's use the mold as much as we can.
17:37At least there's a justified reason.
17:39The moment, in fact, I saw that scene on TV,
17:41I even said to myself,
17:43I wouldn't be surprised if they don't release
17:45the blood version of that predator.
17:47Because, of course, the moment he kills that bear,
17:49it's covering over top of his cloaked body,
17:51revealing it, obviously,
17:53the warrior girl that he's chasing behind.
17:55It's a nice release of the figure.
17:57Again, it's going to have a little bit of stability issues
17:59just because of the way they've designed the ankles,
18:01but I find more fault in that,
18:03more to the design of the character and less to the figure itself.
18:05He is lacking, though, some of the accessories.
18:07But, again, I don't think he necessarily
18:09needed all those accessories either.
18:11For what we see in least of this specific scene,
18:13we don't ever see the shield.
18:15We don't ever see the crossbow.
18:17So I don't think those were accessories
18:19that needed to be packed with the figure
18:21in the first place.
18:23I was a big fan of that original feral predator,
18:25and though just by the association of using
18:27the exact same mold,
18:29I end up liking this one as well.
18:31Clear doesn't always translate well to a variant figure.
18:33You have to, I feel, give a justified reason
18:35as to why that character has existed.
18:37It can't always just be a case that a figure company
18:39looks at a mold and says,
18:41can we do something else with this?
18:43I think NECA does do that.
18:45They find other ways to make use of the same mold,
18:47but they always find, especially with predators,
18:49predators are a good candidate for that.
18:51A clever way to use that same mold
18:53by either giving them a cloak, or in this case,
18:55cloaking the figure in clear plastic
18:57and then dousing it in bare blood.
18:59Luckily, though, it's only just paint.
19:01I can't imagine that they've sourced out
19:03any animal blood for the use and release of this figure.
19:05But it does translate for a very gory-looking figure.
19:07It's probably one of the goriest...
19:09Is it probably one of the goriest NECA figures
19:11we've ever gotten?
19:13Just imagine taking the same core idea
19:15and NECA just produced a whole series
19:17of bloodied variants.
19:19Imagine a Jason Voorhees just covered in blood like this.
19:21A Pinhead. A Michael Myers.
19:23The skies certainly are the limits.
19:25I mean, they have done blood-released figures before,
19:27but never, I feel, to the extent of what we're getting here
19:29with the feral predator.
19:31Again, based on that scene and that scene alone,
19:33I can get behind why there's so much blood
19:35all over the figure's body.
19:37If I could probably nitpick this,
19:39I could say that the clear that they've used for the spear
19:41probably should have maybe handprints on it
19:43because the predator obviously has bloodied hands.
19:45You would think that that would leave behind...
19:47But I'm not, again, going to nickel-and-dime
19:49the problems with this figure.
19:51There's definitely more positives to the figure
19:53than there are the negatives.
19:55He's missing some of the accessories that were packed
19:57with the original feral predator,
19:59but I think, honestly, that's not really a big deal.
20:01If you're wanting those accessories anyways,
20:03you should have those accessories on the figure's hands
20:05or on the figure's limbs.
20:07I don't think this figure necessarily needed it.
20:09It has, and it does, what it needs to do the best.
20:11It takes an original mold,
20:13and it finds a new, creative way to release it.
20:15And I think it was a very creative way
20:17that they released this as a bare-blood variant.
20:19It might also be the only time
20:21I'm sure we're ever going to see the wording
20:23on the front of the package that says,
20:25bare-blood.
20:27How did that even pass for marketing?
20:29I mean, any stores that are putting this in their POs,
20:31bare-blood,
20:33feral predator? Either way, though,
20:35a big thank you to the folks over at NECATOYS
20:37that did provide, of course, the sample of the feral predator
20:39that we could have a look at in this review.
20:41Have you guys had the chance to pick up the bare-blood variant?
20:43Let me know your thoughts of it down below in the comments section.
20:45Also, what you guys thought
20:47of the prey-predator movie.
20:49Apparently, there is talks that they're going to be doing
20:51another predator-prey. I hope that that's the case.
20:53I don't know whether they would still call it Prey
20:55or would it be Prey 2,
20:57or if they'll give it another name
20:59and maybe like a series of Prey sequels.
21:01I'm definitely looking forward to any new predator movies
21:03if it's anything as good as what we got with Prey.
21:05If you guys did enjoy this video, though,
21:07why not throw it a like?
21:09If you guys are loving the content you guys are seeing
21:11and want to stick around for more.
21:13By the way, we are wrapping things right now,
21:15as you probably can already imagine.
21:17We're now going to be wrapping up things
21:19with the bare-blood predator,
21:21but there's definitely going to be a lot more NECA reviews
21:23coming your way this week.
21:25As always, guys, thanks for watching.
