Pets at Home Chesterfield official reopening
Transcript
00:00So I'm Anna Kremen, I'm the store manager of the Chesterfield Pets at Home branch.
00:04What can people expect to find in this now transformed store?
00:08So obviously a brand new lovely store, very much a different feel from previously.
00:13We've got a brand new pet village, aquatics and reptile sections,
00:18a larger groom room and a state-of-the-art veterinary centre.
00:23Is the Chesterfield store now one of the largest pet stores?
00:28It isn't no, but with it's just over like 10,000 square foot with now the vets going
00:34up on the mezzanine floor it has opened the shop floor up into a wider range of products.
00:40What are the new additions?
00:42New additions obviously like I said a larger groom room,
00:45the vets practice has got a state-of-the-art dental theatre,
00:50got larger walking kennels as well for larger dogs and a much larger capacity as well.
00:56Have any new members of staff been taken on as a result of the transformation?
01:00I've still got my original team so no new people as yet.
01:05How does it feel to be in the store?
01:08Exciting, it is really good to get back so it'll be lovely to see some of the old faces
01:13that we've missed as well as welcoming a lot of new customers so yeah we can't wait to get started.
01:18How do vets for pets differ from other veterinary practices?
01:23Because they're locally owned the practice owners have complete
01:26freedom with prices of the products and services they offer.
01:31Have any new measures been put in place to protect the building from the effects of flooding in the
01:35future? Yeah so we've invested in flood defences and we've also got systems to stop the flow of
01:40water coming back into the building you know if such events happen again.
01:44Can you talk us through the day of the floods and what your priorities were that day?
01:48Yeah so the day of the flood because the river runs across the back of the shop
01:52when it burst its banks it flooded the shopping shop incredibly quickly and the collie had acted
01:58as fast as they could the care of the pets was obviously paramount and the care of the
02:03collies on top of that as well. How have you catered for customers since then?
02:09They've been redirected to local stores and so mainly Claycross and Dromfield are the nearest
02:14one to us and the vets continue to operate down the side of the building in porter cabins
02:18so it's great to go and get them back into the shop into the brand new vet practice.
