00:00We have a baby. We have a baby. Bryce and Elizabeth have a baby. We are finally aunts and uncles.
00:07Woo! Woo!
00:09On the season 14 finale of Seven Little Johnstons, Liz and Bryce's baby finally arrived.
00:14But a lot happened leading up to it.
00:16The episode began with Anna inviting Emma, Bryce and Liz over for Halloween.
00:20And she surprised Liz by dressing up as her.
00:23You actually look like that though when you're pregnant. I'm gonna laugh.
00:26Don't I look cute?
00:29You might break your back. Yeah.
00:31For some reason, Anna thought the belly weight should be all the way up here.
00:35But I think the belly was just a little big on her for her waist.
00:38But I think I've been a pretty good source of birth control for Anna and Emma both throughout this whole process.
00:43After handing out candy, Liz challenged her sisters to watch a video of a C-section.
00:47And they were a little squeamish.
00:49Oh yeah. Oh no. You're not freaking looking. Look at that s***.
00:52I'm looking. That's not that s*** that your niece is going to be coming out of.
00:57Emma, put that down. I don't need to see that. Oh, that's blood.
01:00Watching that video, it was just nasty.
01:03I peaked my eyes just to give support to Elizabeth to watch the C-section.
01:08But it was nasty.
01:10It just makes my stomach hurt too when they're just doing it.
01:13Later on, Trent and Bryce installed baby Layton's car seat.
01:16Afterward, Trent brought up Liz and Bryce potentially getting married one day.
01:19And how it might play out the same as it did for Amber's parents.
01:22I've told Amber, I said, this is going to go down a lot like you and your mama.
01:27Because Amber was the flower girl. Amber was a three-year-old flower girl in her mom and dad's wedding.
01:32It would be flower girl 2.0.
01:38The flower girl will almost be as tall as the bride.
01:42They then talked about raising Layton, who will be average size, in a family of little people.
01:46I wonder if she's going to grow up and ask her mom why she's taller than her mom.
01:55Of course, those questions will come around. Absolutely.
01:58But if she grows up in a good family with parents that are explaining things, she grows into it and grows up with it.
02:06There won't be a lot of wondering.
02:08She's going to be a well-rounded individual because she knows she'll automatically be grown and taught into acceptance
02:15and how to accept people being different.
02:17Meanwhile, Liz was getting her nails done with Amber and Heidi.
02:20And Heidi, who raised her own average-sized child as an LP mom, gave Liz insight into what to expect.
02:25So being a mother of an average-sized child and a little child,
02:30tried to give Elizabeth some advice with the difference between them.
02:35And the biggest thing is that she's going to be doing things, Miss Layton, a lot quicker and sooner than the little person child would.
02:43She's going to be walking. She's going to be sitting up. She's going to be rolling over.
02:49All of these things quicker. Going to have to childproof the house a lot sooner.
02:54On the night before the birth, Liz and Bryce had a date night, and they talked about their nerves setting into the big day.
02:59My nervousness is more like when I get put to sleep, what am I going to wake up to?
03:03Like, yes, I know I'm going to wake up to my daughter, but hoping that I'm waking up to everything.
03:08Like, you know, she's great. She's doing good. You're okay.
03:11Not like anything else different that I wake up to.
03:14Yeah, because I'm going to be worried about you to death.
03:16I'm also worried about Elizabeth. You know, something accidentally going wrong with her.
03:22And, you know, there's an emergency because, you know, you never know what could happen because not all things are perfect.
03:27Then me, I'm, you know, I just lose it.
03:31Meanwhile, all of the siblings got together to meal prep for the soon-to-be parents, each making a tray of lasagna.
03:37It definitely takes a village to raise a kid, and I think we've got a good-sized village amongst us in this house to be able to give Leighton her best start.
03:47Enjoy this meal. I know cooking is hard, even with a kid. Good luck, Liz and Bryce.
03:51I hope this meal will be amazing for your belly. Can't wait to meet Leighton.
03:55Can't wait to watch y'all become the best parents. Love the crazy aunt.
03:59The next morning, it was delivery day. The whole family packed up to get to the hospital in Atlanta, and Trent filmed once they got there.
04:06Elizabeth, how are you feeling?
04:08Happy because we're here. And there's a possibility she would.
04:11How far away are we from baby time? Delivery time?
04:15We're pretty soon. Pretty soon. Hopefully sooner.
04:18What's the first thing you're going to do when you see your baby?
04:25Are you going to cry? You think you might get emotional? This is your creation.
04:31Soon, it was time for Liz's C-section, and Amber was hoping it would go well.
04:35When we delivered Jonah, he came out not breathing and spent six weeks in the NICU.
04:42And obviously, our biggest hope is that Elizabeth doesn't have to experience that.
04:51I'm very much a person that is a realist and has had conversations with Elizabeth that,
04:58you know, remember, you are having a C-section and you are being put under general anesthesia.
05:04Therefore, there is that possibility that, you know, Leighton may have to go into the NICU.
05:09As they waited for Leighton to be born, the nerves continued to grow.
05:12They were on the operating table, and mom and dad said, it'll only take like 30 minutes.
05:18You know, C-sections are very quick and everything. And it got past 30 minutes.
05:23It was about 45 minutes. And so at the end, we were getting worried.
05:28The next, what is it, past like 15 minutes, all of us were, all of us were stressing.
05:35It is a bit overwhelming. As much as we want a grandbaby, that's also our daughter going back there for surgery as well.
05:43So, and this isn't tonsils or adenoids or ear tubes or anything. This is a major surgery.
05:48But soon, all the tensions were eased when Leighton arrived.
05:51Bryce told us about his first moments meeting his daughter.
05:53I was sitting out there for a little while. And then I hear her crying.
05:58They come and get me and they brought me in there and I just hear really loud crying.
06:05I'm like, oh yeah. And then I go see her and she's just the most beautiful little thing.
06:10Soon after, Liz got to introduce the whole family to Leighton through a window.
06:14When we got close to the window, I'm pretty sure I started crying because I was just overwhelmed
06:18because I had no idea that my Aunt Heidi and Carrington and that more people were going to be there.
06:22And so I started crying when I saw them and especially when I saw Mom and Dad
06:26because they were like, it was like the look of relief.
06:29And then Paw Paw and then Alex and then Anna were looking.
06:33And it was really, really sweet, but they just got to see her through the window.
06:36And then before I know it, the nurse was like, you can bring them all back to your room.
06:40And we were like, all of them? It was like eight people. Like all of them? They're like, yeah.
06:45Amber and Trent were among the first Johnstons to hold Leighton.
06:48She opened her eyes for a minute. We got to see her eyes.
06:51Oh my gosh.
06:53Holding Leighton in our arms for the first time, that was, I think, the moment that we're like,
07:01holy s***, we're really grandparents. This really just happened.
07:06Mama's first grandbaby.
07:08I read, and until you hear it, you don't realize it,
07:12but a grandchild is the best gift your child can give you.
07:16And it's true.
07:18It was clear right away how in awe of the baby Liz was.
07:21I just couldn't get over how small she was and that she definitely did have a lot of hair.
07:25But she was just so sweet. And she was, I mean, she was pretty.
07:29I couldn't get over the fact of like how pretty she was.
07:32Gotten the good looks from her mama.
07:34I mean, I was like, yeah, we did a pretty good job.
07:36She has that baby smell.
07:38The season ended with Liz and Bryce reflecting on the joy of becoming a family of three,
07:42with lots more love and adventures in store.
07:44You gonna keep her?
07:46Yes.
07:48Even though Bryce and I are absolutely exhausted,
07:51we are super, super excited having Leighton here with us.
07:55And we could not be more grateful that we have a very happy and healthy and beautiful baby girl in our arms.
08:01And I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.
08:04Best feeling in the world.
08:08Yeah.
