In a historically unprecedented turn of events, the Liberal Democrats have ousted the Conservatives from Chichester, after more than 100 years of dominance. Following the results announcement, Former Secretary of State for Education, Gillian Keegan, addressed her former constituents.

00:11who to play their part in that. It's not the outcome we wanted but clearly the people have
00:16spoken across the country and here in Chichester. I admire anybody who puts themselves forward to
00:25Parliament but we all understand how the system works, albeit it does appear more volatile than
00:31ever. I want to place on record my thanks to my amazing team who have worked so hard for the
00:38people here in Chichester, in the whole constituency. Thank you, you are amazing and
00:44also my agent Susan and for all those who have supported me. I wish everybody in Chichester
00:51and in our country the very best for the future and thank you for giving me the opportunity to
00:57serve you for the past seven years. This year will mark my 40th year of working full-time
01:04and I can honestly say I've loved every minute of serving the people of Chichester. I've given
01:10it my all and I've really enjoyed it, even the difficult bits like tonight. I wish my
01:17successor the very best as the new MP for Chichester and I want to thank you all for
01:23playing your part in democracy and I wish you all the very best for the future. Thank you.
