00:00Previously on Forth and Forever,
00:02Glade Central senior Jermaine Mays got cleared to play.
00:06Everybody knows what needs to be done,
00:08what's at stake, what's on the line.
00:10We're going to make history tonight.
00:12But he was left on the sideline during a demoralizing defeat
00:15for coach Jesse Hester.
00:18No!
00:20And Pahokee, with first-year coach DJ Bolden,
00:23suffered their second embarrassing loss in as many weeks.
00:26Y'all got to make plays!
00:28Questions about the team's leadership spread across the muck.
00:32You got social media, you got fans, you got the community.
00:36It's like everywhere you go.
00:38And fuses burned short on the practice field.
00:41You want to be an individual? Well, play tennis.
00:59Football is religion in Muck City.
01:03The stadiums at rival schools Pahokee and Glade Central High
01:08are the temples.
01:10And the head coaches are supported by a staff of assistant coaches
01:14who must act as loyal disciples.
01:17I'm currently in the process of coaching coaches.
01:20I definitely think they feel the pressure,
01:22hear the voices in the streets and in the communities,
01:25that probably wavers how they feel about what's going on.
01:33The Pahokee Blue Devils are coming off back-to-back blowout defeats,
01:37so the pressure is on the entire coaching staff to get a win.
01:41But that's not first-year coach DJ Bolden's only problem.
01:45It appears that there could be dissension
01:48in his ranks of loyal assistant coaches.
01:51Someone is sharing inside information about the program
01:55and creating a backlash from disgruntled fans.
02:00I have a big family here in Pahokee,
02:03and my family tells me everything.
02:06When it was told to me verbatim,
02:08some of the private conversations that we have as coaches
02:11to people in the community, that's never a good sign.
02:14It's a concern that needs to be addressed.
02:22Muck City locals talk football year-round,
02:26in the barbershops, out in the cane fields,
02:30even on nearby Lake Okeechobee.
02:33Football in the South is a lot more important
02:36than it is all over the rest of the country.
02:38And South Florida's no different.
02:40It's a big part of the community.
02:45The local obsession with football
02:47creates opportunities for fans like DJ Bolden
02:50and opportunities for fans like Lester Finney.
02:53Lester played at Glade Central High School and in college.
02:58Football has been good to me.
03:00It sent me to college on a scholarship,
03:02and I came back home, Belle Glade,
03:04because I love Belle Glade.
03:06Now Lester teaches arts at his alma mater
03:09and doubles as the city's most sought-after muralist.
03:14It's wonderful to be able to do something in the community
03:18and make people smile,
03:20and that's the mission that I am on.
03:23And it makes a difference.
03:28Lester's talents and his love of Raider football
03:32have led him to a lucrative side gig
03:34creating an entire universe of Glade Central paraphernalia.
03:38This is my man cave.
03:41The name my wife gave it.
03:43It's just my workshop, but it's home.
03:46I come up with good ideas, bad ideas.
03:49Every time people come to town,
03:51anything about the Glade Central Raiders, they want it.
03:55My favorite table.
03:57What made money to pay bills.
04:00Help people in the communities.
04:03It's a wonderful thing.
04:05And you put the paint down.
04:07I smear it.
04:09Ta-da!
04:11And the collard greens, wild rabbit, fried gators,
04:14that's what it take to be a Raider?
04:16Okay, that's us. That's us.
04:19Lester's one-of-a-kind shirts are emblematic
04:23of just how central football is to Muck City's identity.
04:27But the area's fixation on the sport can cut both ways.
04:32For Lester Finney, it drives T-shirt sales.
04:37For coaches, it creates nonstop pressure to win.
04:42They like the microwave thing.
04:45Everything is instant.
04:47And this year, almost halfway through the regular season,
04:51Glade Central and its rival Pahokee High
04:54have disappointing records.
04:56Negative gossip about coaching decisions and player performance
04:59is spreading among Raider and Blue Devil faithful alike.
05:03Fans can come down,
05:05but the fans got to understand that we got to stay in it.
05:08Your emotions is getting in the way,
05:10you got to stay focused, you got to stay in it.
05:18Pahokee's first-year head coach DJ Bolden
05:21must fix a situation that's affecting morale around his program.
05:27All right, Coach, I'm going to cut straight to the chase.
05:30I got a Judas in my camp.
05:33And I ain't feeling it.
05:37I don't know who it is.
05:41But I'm going to find out.
05:43And when I do,
05:45I'm going to get on it like a dog on set.
05:48I can no longer be part of this program.
05:51I'm a grown man.
05:54Personal conversations within our circle
05:56should never leave our circle out to the people in the community.
05:59Because y'all already know how these people operate.
06:01You already know.
06:03You can't be a part of me.
06:05You're against me. You're an enemy.
06:08I don't have a place for it.
06:11That's all I got to say, fellas.
06:13Let's go. Let's go to work, man.
06:15I don't know why I feel like that.
06:17It's been brought up.
06:21Oh, it's been brought up.
06:23Messages, people in the community.
06:25I'm talking about direct stuff that was said within our conversation.
06:37All that stuff.
06:39Somebody in the community said something to me about that.
06:41Speculation, one thing.
06:43Verbatimally quote, it's an initiative.
06:51I really wish, like,
06:53people would just trust the process a little bit more.
06:56But I think that we must do better at this point
06:59because there's too much at stake.
07:02Over in Belle Glade,
07:04Glade Central's team is coming off a difficult loss to rival Coco.
07:08Local fans are uneasy about the team's prospects
07:11against their upcoming opponent, Dwyer.
07:14But not senior Jermaine Mays,
07:16who feels like he's back at 100% following a knee injury.
07:20Ball! Ball! Ball! Hands up!
07:22Man, I feel good, man. I feel good to be on the field, man.
07:25This is what I wanted, so I'm here.
07:27I'm going to practice every day this week.
07:29I'm going to make a statement to the coaches
07:31that I deserve to be on the field, you know what I'm saying?
07:34Straight up, they called it.
07:36They're very competitive, you know what I mean, on and off the field,
07:39you know, in the classroom as well.
07:41Hey, hands going in, or they keep it contained?
07:44Keep it contained.
07:46He's the life. He's the dog walker of the team.
07:48You know, he's the kid that learning.
07:51His heart beat, his mind, his body,
07:54You know, he's the kid that learning.
07:56His heart beat, but he's the kid you have to really coach and train.
08:00Slow that **** down!
08:05He's a fire stick.
08:07He wears his emotion on his sleeves.
08:09You know, we just got to make sure
08:11he just tone that down a little bit in games.
08:13Even when it gets pahoki, guys, no personal fouls, guys.
08:16No grabbing the face, man.
08:18No cussing at the guys.
08:20If you do that, they're going to call it immediately on us.
08:25While Jermaine stays laser-focused
08:28on making a comeback this Friday versus Dwyer,
08:31some of Jermaine's teammates appear to check out during practice.
08:37Angle, angle, angle!
08:39639, what did you hear?
08:43He ain't know what you hear.
08:44How you going to line up and don't know what to play here?
08:46That is a no-no.
08:49Get out of here! Move!
08:52Head coach Jesse Hester's team
08:54needs to improve on this 3-3 record
08:57if it hopes to live up to the fans' expectations
09:00of a playoff run every year.
09:02Right now, the kids are having a little bit too much fun
09:06in a bad way.
09:07You want them to have fun, but not to the point
09:10where they're not paying attention to detail.
09:13Each game is very important for us down the stretch,
09:17especially for seeding in the playoffs.
09:20Excuses are the tools of the incompetent.
09:25Those who use them will seldom ever achieve anything.
09:30We got to be in playoff mode right now,
09:33not play mode, not playful mode.
09:37Come on, guys, every game, every game at this point counts.
09:42All right? All right, guys, get a break.
09:44Break it down, man.
09:451, 2, 3.
09:46Break!
09:51With Pahokee coach DJ Bolden uncertain
09:54about who to trust on his coaching staff,
09:57it's a relief for him to get away from it all
10:00by spending time with his son Dallas.
10:03We're the Wolves, so we'll catch you!
10:07Come here, Dallas.
10:09Come here.
10:10No!
10:11When I had Dallas, it grew me up.
10:14It definitely grew me up.
10:16I had the opportunity to be a stay-at-home dad for a year.
10:21Which meant pushing Pah's on his budding career as a coach.
10:26I had the minority internship in the NFL
10:29with the San Francisco 49ers with Jim Harbaugh at the time.
10:34Internship was supposed to have been for a month.
10:37Harbaugh extended it to a year, and that turned into a job.
10:43When I coached with the 49ers for three seasons,
10:47then after that, my son was born.
10:50I chose family.
10:51And as I moved back down here for my family,
10:54the job opening came open for Pahokee's head coaching job,
10:59and only rightfully so to apply.
11:02Yeah! Yeah!
11:04Show them that speed, Dallas.
11:06Show them the speed.
11:07When I see Dallas sort of puts everything into perspective
11:10whatever feelings I had prior to that,
11:13it's out of the window immediately.
11:16Go!
11:17Dada, I need help!
11:19We got to get our first gear now.
11:21On your mark, get set, go!
11:25You're never going to beat me.
11:27Hooray, Dallas!
11:30With this job, just being a leader,
11:33being a significant other, being a coach, a teacher,
11:39with all of those things on a day-to-day basis
11:42can be overwhelming at times,
11:44especially when you are the leader of many people.
11:52At Pahokee High School,
11:54the football coach is not only the leader
11:57of the beloved Blue Devil team,
11:59he's also an ambassador to the community
12:02and surrogate parent to his players.
12:04Let's go!
12:05It's very important for them to see a strong father figure
12:09each and every day.
12:10Some kids don't have that opportunity at home.
12:13Some kids are from broken homes or single-parent households.
12:16So for me, to give a piece of myself to those kids
12:20is everything.
12:23Like parenting, film sessions after tough losses
12:27sometimes call for doses of tough love,
12:30especially following Pahokee's back-to-back blowout defeats
12:33to Palm Beach Lakes and Trinity Christian.
12:37I'm going to address the team.
12:39I'm going to be brutally honest.
12:41I want to highlight the good and the bad
12:44so that we can learn from those mistakes.
12:49About to watch this film.
12:50Y'all already know what it is.
12:52All right?
12:53Y'all take constructive criticism.
12:55You ain't getting on nobody to make fun of anybody.
12:58All right?
12:59We want to become a better football team.
13:02I really want guys to keep their eyes on me
13:05so that I can teach them through this process
13:07on how to handle it, how can we move forward,
13:10how can we refocus, you know,
13:12help them see light at the end of the tunnel
13:14so they can stay motivated and play the game of football.
13:18Coach Bolden first singles out senior defensive lineman
13:21Jalen Williams, whose job it is
13:24to stop the opposing team's running attack,
13:26not only to win games, but to secure Jalen's future.
13:30Jalen, if you have any aspiration
13:34to play in Division I football,
13:36you have to make this play.
13:41Run your feet.
13:43Man, you so close to being great, bro.
13:45You so close, bro.
13:47You are so close to being great.
13:49I'm not a D-line coach, but what do they talk about?
13:52Playing at the heels of the line, right?
13:54So when you made your move and you're at the heels,
13:56if you would have scraped flat,
13:57you would have hit him right in the mouth.
13:59Same, different.
14:00Big football.
14:03Coach Bolden's the only person still be talking.
14:05I don't have no more kids, bro.
14:07I'm trying to be an effective leader, fellas.
14:10Just like the Glade Central staff,
14:12Pahokee's coaches are frustrated
14:14by what seems to be a lack of focus.
14:17Oh, he's stiff. He can't run.
14:21It's not funny, fellas.
14:24Why?
14:25We just got blown out again!
14:29Again!
14:31Everything ain't funny
14:32until they start taking them scholarships.
14:34That's what y'all play for.
14:38After the film session,
14:39Coach Bolden tries to refocus his team
14:42and get them to take their losing record more seriously
14:45by holding a meeting with just him.
14:49Hey, coaches.
14:51Coach, step out for a minute, please.
14:53All coaches.
14:55Step out a minute.
14:57All right, fellas.
14:59Let's have a real conversation.
15:02Like men.
15:06Don't wait till you leave out of here
15:07and you got something to say to other people.
15:09This is the time amongst your brothers,
15:11amongst your head coach,
15:13to voice your opinion.
15:16I feel like you need to be more aggressive on us
15:19about the little things,
15:20and you got to be more hard and, like...
15:23You got to demand it, Coach.
15:25They're listening to you, Coach.
15:27Let me tell y'all something right now.
15:29I'm not going to cuss out a kid.
15:31I'm not going to berate a kid or belittle a kid.
15:34That's not my style.
15:36That ain't how I get down.
15:38Now, can I try another effective way to teach
15:40to try to get through your head?
15:42Yes, sir.
15:43I'm going to do that.
15:44And one thing you got to do,
15:46you got to start blaming it on you.
15:48Half the time, it'll be on us.
15:50Including me, too.
15:51It'll be on us, though.
15:52It won't really be on y'all.
15:53If something go wrong,
15:55because I'm a professionalist,
15:57because I'm the leader,
15:59I always got to take the blame.
16:03When we win, guess who they're going to praise?
16:06Cobold.
16:07We lose, guess who they're going to blame?
16:09Cobold.
16:10And I want y'all to understand that,
16:12because I believe all of y'all are leaders.
16:14And I believe if everybody shoulder the blame
16:16when you on that pedestal,
16:18then you become a better football player.
16:20Yeah, but y'all ain't got no plan, though.
16:22We got no plan.
16:23We got to take the blame for all that stuff.
16:25I'm with you, Cave.
16:26I'm with you.
16:28What I can do is lead better,
16:31because if y'all having issues with coaches,
16:34leave that to me.
16:36Leave that to me.
16:38We never had a session to where
16:42we could talk to Cobold personally.
16:44That was different.
16:45That shocked me, too.
16:46I'm like, that's the first time.
16:48But I love that session, though,
16:50because I feel like Cobold got somewhere
16:52where he never got before,
16:53and I feel like we came together more as a team.
16:56Y'all good?
16:57Yes, sir.
16:59All right, fellas.
17:01Y'all go to the locker room.
17:03We got conditioning.
17:06It's a bye week for Pahokee,
17:08so Coach Bolden has time to zero in
17:10on his team's shortcomings
17:12and fix what isn't working.
17:15High knees, high knees.
17:18One, eight.
17:24One, eight ball.
17:27Coach Bolden trying to make everything work
17:30as a cohesive unit.
17:31You know, we're actually trying to get back
17:33to the real old Pahokee
17:34where we're just blowing people out.
17:40The old Pahokee blew out opponents
17:42behind the play of outstanding quarterbacks
17:44like Anquan Bolden.
17:46He was a great wide receiver in the NFL,
17:48but he got his start playing QB with the Blue Devils.
17:52Coming from the glazed area,
17:53I think it equips you for life.
17:55We always say if you can make it on Muck City,
17:58you can make it anywhere,
17:59and that has absolutely been true in my life.
18:03There's a lot of things that, you know,
18:05you encounter in college,
18:07even in the professional ranks.
18:09Some things that people may falter under,
18:12we strive in because we've been prepared
18:14for that moment.
18:17Mack Williams began the season as the starting QB
18:21but has since been benched.
18:23It's up to the coaches, and Mack as well,
18:25to build up the confidence
18:26of the potential new starter, KJ Bui,
18:29the youngest QB on the team,
18:31who also happens to be Mack's younger cousin.
18:35I taught KJ everything he knew
18:37ever since the spring we first started.
18:40Like, everything I do, he'll ask me how I do it,
18:42and I'll show him.
18:43It's like he copies everything I do,
18:45and I always help him.
18:46Like, if he's in the game, I help him out.
18:48I tell him what to do,
18:49like, if he don't know what's going on.
18:51So it's like, KJ's my cousin,
18:53but me and him are like brothers together.
18:56That's why I call him.
18:58Now!
19:00KJ, he's good. He's a sophomore kid.
19:02You have two good quarterbacks
19:03that are, you know, both leaning on the edge
19:06of having a breakout season,
19:07and then at the end of the day,
19:08still trying to learn through the adversities.
19:12There we go.
19:16Perfect.
19:17Coach called me before practice,
19:18told me I'm the starter,
19:20and I gotta man up and take control of my offense.
19:22Catch the damn ball.
19:24Good catch.
19:25Catch.
19:26If y'all play how y'all practice,
19:28I promise y'all we gonna win.
19:30Good practice.
19:34The film session earlier in the week
19:36helped improve play during practice,
19:39but Coach Bolden must still confront
19:40his biggest challenge off the field,
19:42dealing with the leak
19:43that seems to be coming from his staff.
19:46I can't turn a blind eye to it.
19:47It can't be ward off a duck's back.
19:49And we're at a turning point in our season.
19:52We can't afford to have someone like that a part of us.
19:59This week, the Glade Central Raiders
20:01travel across Palm Beach County
20:03to face a tough team with its own winning tradition.
20:06Dwyer High School is one of the best teams
20:08in Palm Beach County.
20:09The expectations at Dwyer are usually very high.
20:15With no game of their own,
20:16Mack Williams and some of his Pahokee teammates
20:19travel to Dwyer to take in the game
20:22and scout their number-one rival.
20:25We're here to watch Glade Central,
20:27Dwyer play.
20:28Glade Central, our rival.
20:29Looking forward to playing Glade Central
20:31in, like, four more weeks.
20:34Ladies and gentlemen,
20:35we now direct your attention to this field
20:37with tonight's point club.
20:38Against Dwyer,
20:39the Raiders will depend on a few key players,
20:42including its fleet of speedy receivers
20:45like number nine, Desna Washington,
20:48and number one, Jim Davis,
20:50who also plays defense.
20:52Then there's number two, Jacob Camacho,
20:55whose family travels as a pack through every game.
20:58Jacob is pretty much,
21:00talented in all the positions.
21:02He'll be able to handle any position they put him in.
21:07Defensive end number 20, Jermaine Mays,
21:10is itching to get out there and mix it up
21:13now that his knee is fully healed.
21:15Everybody hit somebody!
21:18Make sure you don't miss nobody!
21:24Dwyer gets the ball first,
21:25and Davis goes to work on the pants
21:28Together with Camacho,
21:29they shut down Dwyer's drive.
21:32Raiders tackled by number two,
21:34Jacob Camacho.
21:36Let's go, offense!
21:37When the Raiders take possession,
21:39they look for Desna Washington,
21:41who makes a catch in the flat.
21:46And then another in the corner of the end zone for six.
21:49Touchdown! Touchdown!
21:51Touchdown!
21:53Now back on defense,
21:54the Raider coaching staff sends in their spark plug,
21:57number 20, Jermaine Mays.
22:02But it's Jacob Camacho who delivers,
22:05stripping the ball and returning it deep
22:08into Dwyer territory.
22:11Yeah, I was surprised when I had the ball.
22:13I was going for the tackle,
22:14and it happened to pop right here.
22:17Then I just tried to put our offense in the best position
22:20or try to score if I can.
22:23Camacho's aggressive play shifts the momentum
22:26and pushes the Raiders to the end zone.
22:29It's a tough game.
22:30It's a tough game.
22:31It's a tough game.
22:32It's a tough game.
22:33It's a tough game.
22:34It's a tough game.
22:35It's a tough game.
22:36It's a tough game.
22:37It's a tough game.
22:38Camacho's aggressive play shifts the momentum
22:40in Glade Central's direction.
22:42But the offense doesn't capitalize,
22:44despite multiple open shots at the end zone.
22:52This gives Dwyer a chance to even the score
22:54before halftime.
22:57That's who got all that hard in.
22:59On the team so far.
23:00It's been two.
23:01Everybody out.
23:02Now they scared again.
23:03Glade Central's defense off guard.
23:04Check him out.
23:05Check him out.
23:06Check him out.
23:07Check him out.
23:08Touchdown.
23:09Dwyer just scored.
23:10You feel me?
23:11Touchdown by Dwyer.
23:12No, I think they got a flag.
23:13I think they took that back.
23:14They took that back.
23:20Well, the score's still 7-0.
23:22539 left in the second quarter.
23:25This trio of Pahokee players,
23:27Mack Williams, Scooter Kabir, and Trey Reeves,
23:31all transferred from Glade Central this year.
23:33But they barely recognize the Raider team on the field.
23:36Dwyer just got a touchdown.
23:37Took that.
23:38But Glade Central do not look like the same Glade Central
23:41that I left a year ago.
23:42Glade Central look mediocre.
23:44Yeah, yeah.
23:46Dwyer can't get in the end zone,
23:48but they do narrow Glade Central's lead
23:50with a field goal.
23:53That's good.
23:55Raiders 7.
23:56Panthers 3.
23:587-3.
24:00That's a danger.
24:01They ain't gonna be 2-0 right now.
24:03You run the ball.
24:05Defense, defense, defense.
24:07In the closing minutes of the first half,
24:09Jermaine Mays returns to the field.
24:11Get it, Raiders!
24:13And immediately lowers the boom on a Dwyer receiver.
24:19But the Glade Central senior
24:21doesn't keep his emotions in check.
24:25There we go.
24:26Look at the flag.
24:27I think some people be missing they calling, man.
24:30Every time they do something good,
24:31them bitches do something bad.
24:32They did that.
24:33You always doing that, dawg.
24:35You always doing that, dawg.
24:37Straight up, straight up.
24:38Come on, come on.
24:43It was a good play, but you tall.
24:45You can't cuss.
24:46Straight up, straight up.
24:47You can't cuss like that.
24:48Just own up to it, bro.
24:49We can't have no penalties, though.
24:50That 50-yard got a poster.
24:51That's all.
24:52He didn't even hear me cuss.
24:54He heard me when I said,
24:55all night, all night, all night, all night.
24:57No, bro, you said,
24:58yes, bro, you was cussing.
25:00That ain't even what I said, bro.
25:01Listen, that was a good play.
25:02I'm going to get you back in the game,
25:03but you got to remember,
25:04when you make a good play,
25:05don't give that up.
25:06You can celebrate that,
25:07but you foul language.
25:09What?
25:11He basically made the best hit of the game,
25:13but he stood over the kid
25:14and turned at the kid.
25:15I knew he was emotional,
25:16coming off an injury.
25:17He just wanted people to know
25:18that he was back.
25:19It was a better way to just play that.
25:21All that extra stuff wasn't needed,
25:23and he understands that.
25:24Stay, stay, stay, stay.
25:27The 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty
25:30against Jermaine
25:31puts Dwyer in field goal range,
25:33and at the end of the first half,
25:35they make it a one-point game.
25:38Go Raiders, set up.
25:40All right, go Panthers, six.
25:42One for one to get ready
25:43for the big half-time goal.
25:45GCU's up right now,
25:46but we're struggling right now.
25:47Too many penalties going on.
25:49We finna come out here
25:50and get it right, though.
25:51We ain't leaving no more points
25:52on the field.
25:53We left about 21 points
25:54in the first half.
25:55That scoreboard's too close for me, though.
25:57It finna get ugly, though,
25:58for real, though.
26:00Unfortunately,
26:01in the opening minutes
26:02of the second half,
26:03it's more of the same
26:05as Jacob Camacho
26:06and Jim Davis
26:07get burned deep
26:08by a speedy Dwyer receiver.
26:14But when Dwyer
26:15tries to pass
26:16into the back corner
26:17of the end zone,
26:18Camacho flexes
26:19his defensive muscle.
26:25Minutes later,
26:26on fourth down,
26:27Glade Central blocks
26:28Dwyer's field goal attack.
26:31But it comes at a cost,
26:33as Camacho heads
26:34to the sideline
26:35with what appears
26:36to be a knee injury.
26:41Back on offense,
26:42the Raiders again
26:43look to go long.
26:44Y'all might want
26:45to watch this one.
26:48This is gonna be
26:49a first-down touchdown.
26:50I'm calling this one.
26:51I'm calling it.
26:52You're too far up.
26:53You can't see me.
26:54You can't see me.
26:55You can't see me.
26:56You can't see me.
26:57You can't see me.
27:01All right, touchdown.
27:03All right.
27:04All right.
27:06That was on the money, bloody.
27:08Good job.
27:10That was, bro.
27:14Jesus Christ.
27:16The long touchdown
27:17enables Glade Central
27:18to hold on
27:19for a 16-6 victory.
27:21And despite his
27:22unsportsmanlike
27:23conduct penalty,
27:24penalty. Jermaine Mays is thrilled to be back on the field.
27:27It feels good to come out with a win. This is my whole plan when I came out here. Redemption.
27:35Jacob Camacho's knee is a little sore, but it looks like he'll be good to go next week
27:39with his family there for him every step of the way.
27:43There's a great support system behind me, you know. It's great to see them cheering
27:48for me.
27:50The players are happy with the W, but the fans and coaches still see the Raiders as
27:54a work in progress, especially if the goal, like always, is a state championship.
27:59They had a lot of missed opportunities, and the defense kept them in the game.
28:05You guys have to start taking this game seriously. But like we tell you all the time, right now
28:10we're not smart. We're not smart, because we're making too many dumb mistakes.
28:16We gotta play Raider football. This is not Raider football.
28:19I think Jesus did probably came down and touched them or something. But whatever that momentum
28:23was, we need that for the next couple of weeks. Then when we do that, we need it for the playoffs.
28:28Then when we do that, we need it for state games.
28:36The next day, Raider players and coaches gather for another long-standing tradition.
28:42The Saturday morning prayer breakfast, served up during the regular season for nearly three decades
28:47by the team's spiritual leader, Reverend Desmond Harriot, or as the kids call him, Mr. Des.
28:53Congratulations on the victory last night, and I hope it will continue.
29:02We have been doing this so long, almost 30 years, and they're enjoying every bit of it.
29:08That's why we're here every Saturday during the football season.
29:13Over heaping piles of pancakes, the players listen as Coach Hester motivates them
29:17with tales of his career as an elite NFL receiver.
29:22I'll never forget my first practice being drafted by the L.A. Raiders.
29:27Uniform, all of that stuff, sitting in the locker, going out on the field.
29:30Mr. Davis, you know, he stops me before I run out on the field.
29:36We kind of go, you're here amongst excellence.
29:39Yeah.
29:40You are committed to excellence.
29:44Okay.
29:46You guys are in that same boat.
29:50All the past guys that come through here have set the mark high.
29:55Talent-wise, you guys have the talent to do what's necessary to get us where we need to go.
30:00But your commitment to it is nowhere near the levels that it's going to take.
30:07Three more regular season games.
30:10This is it.
30:12This is it.
30:22Back in Pahokee, Coach D.J. Bolden has identified the person on his staff
30:26who is leaking inside information to the public.
30:31For now, Coach Bolden will keep the assistant's identity a secret
30:35instead of potentially causing even more unwanted drama for his team and his staff.
30:42As a leader, I can't judge or lead off of emotions and heart.
30:48I have to be headstrong.
30:51I know who the Judas is, and Jesus knew who Judas was the entire time.
30:55You know, from the first moment he knew he was going to betray him.
30:59But what Jesus didn't do was hang Judas.
31:02Because if he doesn't change, then he's going to hang himself eventually,
31:05and he won't be a part of this program.
31:12More than any gossip and nonstop pressure to win,
31:15the emotion expressed most through Football in Mug City is a love for community.
31:22It's a love that compels Coach Bolden to put his team's best interest above personal squabbles.
31:28A love that brings Desmond Harriot and Coach Hester out every Saturday morning
31:32to feed the players win or lose.
31:35A love that Lester Finney showcases the only way he knows how, through his art.
31:42Believe it or not, with all this Mug City stuff, I have a song called Mug City.
31:48And the kids thought, like, I'm an old man trying to rap and sing, but then they liked it.
31:54You're listening to a Sugarfield production from Mug City.
32:04Everybody knows about Bear Glade, a beautiful place to fish and play.
32:08Surrounded by a lot of Sugarfields, a special place I might say.
32:13Twelve miles away is PK, their real name is Pahokee.
32:18Next to the big lake, take a swim, fish, barbecue, or you can play all day.
32:24PK Sugartown, make a Mug City, and we all get down, you know it.
32:29Don't make us show it.
32:31Hey, everybody knows about Bear Glade.
32:35Mug separate, rapid chasing, baby, make it lazy.
32:37Let them tell it, we're just no good.
32:40We're just no good.
32:48That's Mug City.
32:52Next time on Forth and Forever, Coach Bolden faces a homecoming crowd itching for a win.
32:58It's a homecoming. Get this crowd together.
33:01And Glade Central receiver Jim Davis reflects on the long road that brought him back home.
33:07I told his mom, get him out of Middle Glade, because that was going to be the only way we saved his life.
33:12Around here in our neighborhood, a lot of kids lost their life.
