00:00So Catherine, we're here with you at Market Drayton Library and Library Books on Tour, what's all that about? Fill us in.
00:06So Library Books on Tour was a brilliant idea by Alice, one of our library staff, and the others came up with it and we all support it and we're asking all our library borrowers to send us a picture of any library books that they take out on holiday.
00:21So whether that's trips out locally, or maybe you're visiting family and friends in maybe Wales or a couple of counties over, maybe even going further afield to Europe or to Greece, last year we had a couple from America or travelled further, so it's fantastic for us to see how far they've travelled.
00:42It's quite interesting isn't it, because you get a little glimpse into people's lives when you know what books they're in, don't you, when you're on the sun lounge on holiday and someone's reading next door, always have a little glance to see what they're reading.
00:52Yeah, it's really good and it's a good way of starting conversations with people when you're on holiday as well. And I know myself, I've taken travel books when I've gone on holiday, so it'd be lovely to actually see maybe the travel books on holiday in use, that'd be fantastic, or just your nice relaxing reads on the beach.
01:09Oh, that's what I was going to ask actually, so if you're on a lounger there, chilling out under the parasol, sipping on a cocktail, I'm getting carried away now, what book would you be reading then?
01:19What book would I be reading? My To Be Read pile is so long, but the book I really really want to read is Iron Flame, the new trilogy about dragons, because pretty much all the staff have read it and I haven't read it yet, so we can't talk about it until I've read it.
01:35Yeah, because you're like, yeah, don't give away the ending, I've still got it. Yeah, you can't give away the ending, I say it's just fine, I'll have completely forgotten by the time I've got a chance to read it. But yeah, that's definitely on my To Be Read pile.
01:45So go on then, give us the shout outs, what have we got so far? So far we've got Bronnington in Wales, we've got Stratford-upon-Avon, so we've got a nice picture of the Shakespeare's Theatre here, and the Swan Fountain.
01:59Well-chose backdrop for the Stratford one. We've got Lake Como in Italy, and somebody's taken one of our Friday Night Book Club ones to Greece to read on holiday.
02:11So far that's the record, 1,808 miles travelled. So far that's the record so far, but I'm sure it will be beaten. Shrupshire Library's having influence around the globe. Definitely. Thank you Catherine. Thank you.
