00:00Hi there, Conor Gormley here for Sussex World and this is our daily news bulletin where
00:06I run you through all of our top stories across both East and West Sussex today. A road in
00:12Polgate is set to close for three months due to Southern Water Road works we've reported.
00:17Dittons Road as well as parts of Penansy Road will both be partially down until September
00:21while the works which started on June 24th take place. It's hoped that once complete
00:26the works will reduce storm overflows and create extra storage for water. The Battle
00:32of Hastings in 1066 may have taken place somewhere else in Sussex according to new research.
00:37A paper produced after five years of intensive research suggests Heathfield may have been
00:42the real backdrop for the battle due to its communication links, topography and strategic
00:47location. The paper adds that archaeological research undertaken at Hastings and Battle
00:52Abbey specifically has produced no or very little verifiable evidence of a battle having
00:58taken place. Tributes have been paid to a man who died following an incident in Chichester.
01:04David Hallett was at the Dolphin and Unko pub in the city on Thursday June 20th when
01:09he was, according to police, assaulted by a man unknown to him. The incident took place
01:14at around 11pm and despite the best efforts of police and paramedics he was later pronounced
01:19dead at the scene. David's family have now paid tribute to the 57-year-old calling him
01:23an avid fan of football and rock music who loved his family and his work as a tiler.
01:28That's all from me here at Sussex World but for more from us do make sure to visit our

01:36very much for listening.
