Tenby has been crowned as the UK’s top holiday destination - according to research factoring in pubs, restaurants, beach review scores, and nearby attractions to visit.
According to a YouGov survey, three-quarters of Brits plan to holiday in the UK this year and with the peak holiday season fast approaching, the top 10 best seaside locations for an entertainment-filled staycation have been revealed with Tenby taking the top spot.
UK seaside towns are renowned for their amusements - especially arcade and slots entertainment, and with this in mind, the team at OLBG have created the ‘Holiday Entertainment Index’ to profile the best destinations to mark for a visit this summer, using data from Tripadvisor, Google, and Kayak.
The index considers the number of activities per location including amusements, the cost to stay there, average weather patterns, and more.
Factors considered as part of the Entertainment Score include - number of pubs, restaurants, museums, parks, zoos and aquariums, water and amusement parks, arcades, beach review scores, hotel prices, Google searches, average temperature, average rainfall, and local train stations.
Tenby known as the ‘Jewel in the crown’ of Pembrokeshire ranked first with an entertainment score of 7.71; beating the likes of St Ives in Cornwall in second; and Lyme Regis (known as the ‘Pearl of Dorset’) in third.
