00:00Today we presented the Sustainability Balance 2023, which tells a little about the relationship
00:14between the two countries and the territory of Calabria in the course of 2023.
00:1920 million euros of investment, an increase of 78% compared to 2022, an important sign.
00:26Investments in the next few years, included in our decennial industrial plan for Calabria,
00:30are more than 300 million euros, in the sectors of water, hydroelectric, hydro-cyclic and waste cycle.
00:39So, three topics, energy, water, waste and the central topics with which Calabria is compared,
00:46on which A2A can certainly be an important player.
00:5036 million euros of value left on the territory, which means 10 million euros of returns for our 150 employees.
01:0212.5 million euros to suppliers, small and medium-sized companies, sometimes even very small,
01:10which constitute an essential element for us to be able to work and also an essential element of the relationship with Calabria.
01:20So, in short, I would say an important impact in a mutual symbiosis in which for us Calabria is a very strategic region, very important.
01:30I remember that here we have 10 hydroelectric plants, we have a large thermal power plant in Scandale,
01:38we have a large waste pool in Crotone and we are also working in collaboration with Sorical to give a hand on the whole issue of the water cycle.
01:50In addition to these great projects, the region has launched an interest demonstration for the new thermal power plant in Gioia Tauro,
01:57precisely to close, in the best and most efficient way possible, the urban waste cycle in Calabria.
02:04When we presented ourselves, the dialogue with the local governments, let's say, starting from the region, is extremely constructive and therefore we are happy.
02:12The relationship with the region and in particular with the administration, President Chiuto, I must say that it is extremely constructive,
02:22so we are very happy and I am clearly happy that he is here today.
02:27I believe that A2A is an important interlocutor for the region to face some great projects.
02:34The issue of energy is certainly one of these, a lot of flexible energy is also necessary.
02:41We provide, through hydroelectric and thermal power, that flexibility that, of course, renewables cannot give because they are more connected to the sun and the wind, obviously.
02:54Therefore, A2A is a complete operator, an operator that today provides all sources of energy and therefore can be very well balanced.
03:02However, it is also a great operator on water, a topic that I emphasize because, unfortunately, we are in the presence of one of the worst droughts of recent years in Calabria,
03:10and therefore I think there is a lot to work on and we must invest.
03:14We must invest in new pipes, we must invest in accumulations and on this we need great companies that are able to face the issue.
03:23And then there is the issue of the management of waste, on which I believe that the Calabrian region can be one of the first Italian regions to completely close its cycle.
03:33So, in short, it means without sending anything to waste, which is the goal that all European countries and communities will have to achieve.
03:42So, in short, it seems to me that there is a virtuous work here in the region and certainly a very constructive collaboration,
03:49both with the region and with many local administrations, because then many things are done with the municipalities, with the local administrations, and also with these the dialogue is very positive.
