00:00than the desperation over this betting story that is going around.
00:04That goes to the heart of what the Tories have become.
00:09When their first instinct in relation to a general election
00:14is not how do I serve the country? How do I get the message out?
00:19It's how quickly can I get to the bookies and make some money? That instinct tells you everything
00:26about where this Tory party is now.
00:29It also tells you about leadership.
00:32Because these candidates should be suspended, they should be gone.
00:36If they were my candidates, they'd have been out, their feet would not have touched the ground.
00:40But Rishi Sunak is too weak to show the leadership that is needed.
00:46And his own side are now calling on him to do the right thing, but he's still too weak.
00:52And what's he done this morning? He's announced an investigation.
00:57An investigation designed with one purpose,
01:00which is to knock this into long grass to the other side of the election.
01:05Any investigation should have been done a week ago, it would take half an hour.
01:10Who knew? Did you place a bet?
01:13That's it. But he can't even show that basic leadership.
01:17This is weakness upon weakness, a total failure of leadership,
01:22a process only set up to try and delay the answers until after the election.
01:28And everybody but everybody can see what is happening here.
