Yorkshire Weather: Forecast for region as heatwave hits the region

Heatwave hits the UK, with temperatures soaring to 26 degrees celsius.

00:00You'll be feeling hot, hot, hot this week because the UK heatwave is upon us.

00:06Many of you made the most of it at the weekend heading out to the seaside or the races.

00:12But temperatures are set to soar even more at the start of this week,

00:17with temperatures here in Yorkshire reaching up to 26 degrees Celsius.

00:22Your plants may be relieved that there will be a bit of rain on Wednesday, but only mild.

00:28And temperatures will be cooling down by Friday.

00:32Today and tomorrow we'll see temperatures at their highest.

00:37As the heatwave kicked off on Friday, I asked some people in Wakefield City Centre how they were enjoying the sun.

00:45Sunglasses check. Shorts on.

00:48It's nice to have some nice weather for once, isn't it? I think.

00:51Because we get very long winters, so yeah, it's nice to see a bit of sun.

00:54And have you got any plans if the weather continues?

00:57Yeah, well, I'm going to go to the coast tomorrow, hopefully.

01:00Go to Scarborough for the day, I think, with the kids.

01:02If it stays like this, you know, because it's perfect. Ice cream.

01:05A bit of fish and chips, but yeah, that's my plans.

01:08Making the most of the heatwave at the moment?

01:10Yeah, loving it. Shorts on. Any excuse to get shorts on. It's great.

01:15What are you making the most of the heatwave?

01:18Well, it's bad timing, really, because we're off on holiday on Saturday.

01:23But this is a nice introduction to it, so this is pretty good.

01:27Yeah, it's settling in to the holiday vibes.
