00:00I was thrilled when I heard that Alan Cumming had called X2 the gayest film he'd ever worked on.
00:11Yeah, it made me really happy. And I was so glad that we had done right by him. He's such a,
00:16such a, you know, an icon for gay rights. And, you know, and Ian McKellen also really recognized
00:25the allegory of it from a gay perspective. But also, you know, but our overall goal
00:34with the X-Men in general was just exclusion for anyone, you know, anyone who faced hatred
00:39or exclusion or judgment still and still felt compelled to do the right thing, you know.
00:45Like we had the Holocaust and opening of X1 and Magneto paraphrases Malcolm X at the end,
00:53he says, we're going to fight this war by any means necessary. And so, you know, it's really
01:01for anybody who feels exclusion. But, you know, we had a number of key creatives behind the camera
01:09and on camera who were gay. And so obviously, that element was on our minds. And so the fact
01:16that that came through was and, you know, and felt fulfilling for Alan really meant a lot to
01:22me personally.
